    Hi! James & Sarah here, back with another instalment in our DIY camper van conversion series. This week we’re trying our hand at our first bit of electrics and installing a reversing camera in our Mercedes Sprinter.
    It’s takes way longer than expected, mostly due to a missing part, but also due to us not having a clue what we’re doing. Watch on to find out how it turned out and if we eventually got it working in the end.
    And let us know what you think of our first attempt at van conversion wiring!
    Here’s he product links to everything we used in the video:

    This is BY FAR the best video on TH-cam for installing this reverse camera on a Sprinter. There is no need to tear apart your dash OR wire anything into your fusebox. Keep it simple.

    Great vid guys! to anyone reading the comments we've just done this job following the video, had a similar thing where the first blue and white cable didnt power it up, but the second one did, both look to be reverse light cables so no idea there but worth checking both!
    Also, tent poles are great for getting the wire through the headliner as they can be made longer or shorter if its an awkward angle!

    Hey guys! Great video. I have a sprinter that has the camera installed but no leads and monitor so trying to work out what I need. I has a small green wire that comes out of the 4 pin connector on the brake light. It looks kinda like the one in your video. Wondering if you used it? Or know what it is for? Thanks.

    Do you guys have a rear bumper? I see the doors are just about in the shot, I'm just wondering if it can't catch your bumper as a result of it being a little too short? Just for those extra tight parking jobs where you really need to see the edge of the bumper :)

    @mimminabl8946 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey there. I've just finished installing mine. I don't know what made you struggle connecting the wire to the monitor. All i did was: remove the dome light then pushed the monitor's cable against the windscreen and catch it by my hand inside the dome light hole THEN I slided the other cable and caught it again through the dome hole and connected them together.

    Hi guys, good work on the van videos. I've been looking at reverse camera and unsure which one to get due to the lack of a mirror to hang it off. Which one did you actually get? I've clicked on the link but there are 4 types. would you recommend it despite the issues? Thanks

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Darren, yes we were in exactly the same position with no mirror. The one we got was the first one - camera & 4.3” dash monitor. I will say we didn’t get it from this particular seller but it’s exactly the same kit. And we’d definitely recommend it, yes. The issue was more with the seller than the kit itself, we’ve had zero problems since we installed it and it works a treat- wouldn’t be without it! Hope that helps but let us know if you have any other questions 😀

    • @darrenplayer2091
      @darrenplayer2091 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheWholeWorldorNothing thanks for the reply, yes I thought of getting the 4.3 dash monitor is this not quite small or do you find it OK?

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we find it absolutely fine. Obviously it’s not massive but the picture is crystal clear. Personally I wouldn’t want a bigger one but there’s plenty of space on the windscreen if you do opt for a larger model 😀
