There are still more layers to explore, waiting for the willing. And about Niko staying in the world I am not sure it is exactly that. When we first find the sun in the basement, it turns on in reaction to Niko's touch. Then, more peculiar, it turns off after Maize dies, and stays out until Niko picks it up again. And then we find it on top of the tower, once again, turned off. Those instances make me believe, that the sun only works in the presence of the living being, and thus Niko is forced to stay on top in the inescapable radiance of the sun.

That’s a really cool theory! I didn’t really notice that before you mentioned it, but that is definitely peculiar 🤔
