I tried blowing the shofar and all I got out of it was slobber. Do I need an anointing to be able to play it?
You need to "purse" your lips and blow using the side of your mouth. Practise and you will get it.

Shofars are bad, they are noisy, and they break easily.
Actually, well made ones are good, aren't noisy (unless you are blowing them) and don't break easily. Shalem!
