If you don’t know if you want to take the risk take it this helps a lot I tried it on my off white hoodie just don’t let it sit for a whole hour I did it for 10 minutes and it worked fine :) and don’t rub the soap after you apply the vinegar that was my only issue
@@ArtandLes of course man btw if you have a large heavy hoodie like mine using a large see through garbage bag works just as good and easy to transport it to the shower for a rinse :) I also put mine in the wash to spread the solution around the entire hoodie

Thank you so much. The rinsing water temp doesn't matter too much. It really depends. Warm water is great in removing germs and heavy soil. But based on our research cold water is good for clothes. It will less likely to shrink or fade and ruin clothes. Cold water also reduce wrinkles. Cold water is best also for clothes that bleed.

This whole set up worked for some nasty ass polyester and nylon security uniform shirts that I was given which didn't respond to basic laundering to get rid of heavy arm pit odors and caked on deodorant and antiperspirants. I used a little bit of elbow grease and rubbed and worked the mix to the armpit areas and allowed the mix to stay in soaking for a long period of time before rinsing with warm water then laundering. Sufficed it to say. It worked. I personally recommend Dawn detergent. It worked great.

Just use baking soda OR vinegar. Not both. Very Common misconception that they’re supposed to be used together when all they do is neutralize each other
No, they can be used together. The note worth taking is do not use them in exact quantities.. To become more acidic or base. Their combination produces carbon dioxide that helps lift up dirt from the clothes. That's why in practical use, you can see that it works better than vinegar or baking soda alone. 😊👍
This saved my shirt! Now what if you had to do this on multiple shirts, would you wash it together or separate? Also can you make the formula in the bottle and still make it work?

Oh sad to hear this. Some stains are really hard to remove completely. Not all stains can be removed by this formula. You may repeat the process if you like and letting it soak for more than 8 hours and use a brush to brush the formula into the affected area. But warning, there is a risk that it may fade your textile color depending on its quality.
2:51 Be careful leaving solutions that are largely vinegar on clothing that long. It will especially eat away at elastic. I recommend trying shorter times before resorting to hours.
@@ArtandLes True. Maybe you could bring it out of the bucket and check it at certain points. I was able to do your method but only needed a few minutes- at most- with the four mixed ingredients. I had a leak this past year with a mold intrusion, and as a result I had some bad experiences with clothing soaking too long in vinegar. I suppose long hours of soaking is not damaging so long as all of the vinegar is mixed with the three other ingredients.

Ohhh that is hard to remove. Try using deodorants without aluminum. It will prevent deo buildups. I hope this solution can still work on your severe build ups.

It helps. Hydrogen peroxide lifts up the deo buildups. If you remove it, it may still remove stains and buildups but some may not. Depends on the severity of the build up.
We used a 6% solution that we bought in our local pharmacy. Based on our research, in pharmacies, you can find concentrations from 3 to 9 percent. There are higher concentrations used for bleaching textiles in industries but we are not sure where you can buy it or if it is better. You may want to experiment if you want to.

I did this but got no results unfrotunately. Which side of the t-shirt should I do? The largest deodorant stains are from the inside but it's the outside that's visible too and that what's ruining it for me when wearing the t-shirt... So, I tried doing this on the outside side.
Sad to say it did not work. It depends on the severity of the buildup. Try to concentrate scrubbing and soaking the inside first. I recommend you try soaking it longer. But there is a risk of textile fading depending on the quality of the cloth

Sorry to hear that. It means that the deo buildups were severe and damaged the color of the clothes underneath. This solution can help lift up and remove the buildups but it cannot restore faded colors.
I tried these steps last night, but it was unsuccessful. I think it was because I used different kind of hydrogen peroxide. I will try my best to find the exact hydrogen peroxide just as in the video.

I'll give this a shot, i have 2 weeks before I can go home and fix 35 shirts with this issue. (Any way to un-shrink shirts as well? College has dryers that ruin clothes)
@@ArtandLes it prevents deodorant build up, but promotes sweat and stink build up haha. I went without aluminum for years because I believed some of the warning abouts it only to re-research when I was older and find out that there is zero evidence that the aluminum in deodorant is bad for you. I still use a pretty natural option, but adding back in aluminum has made things WAY less swampy. I'll try this method eventually because my black shirts are getting destroyed.

Wouldn't the hydrogen peroxide whiten the clothes though? I have an almost exclusively black wardrobe with this problem and I'm worried I'm going to exchange a white deodorant stain for a hydrogen peroxide bleached white stain.
Actually, the hydrogen peroxide's purpose is to loosen and lift the stain from the fabric. The vinegar will likely bleach your shirt but depends on the quality of the fabric. As you can see, ny shirt is black and the color was fine after the wash.
Sorry this is a really late response but maybe it can help someone else wondering about the same thing. If you can't find hydrogen peroxide at a pharmacy, you could try looking at gardening stores or hunting shops. Hydrogen peroxide can also be used to get rid of root rot in plants and to bleach skulls, which is why those kinds of stores will often also sell it.
Would this work if I threw everything together in the washing machine? I have a lot of shirts that I need to get rid of the deodorant stains on and if I can do them all at once in one go that would be amazing
If your dryer is enough to dry your clothes completely, there's no need to hang it. 😊 Most dryers cannot completely dry your clothes so you still need to hang it for a while to completely dry. 😊
Yes. It can still be effective. Vinrgar and baking soda is famous for removing stains. But hydrogen peroxide is a great help in softening the build up and also used as effective stain remover. You may experiment as you like. Some stains can be stubborn and hard to remove.

The effectiveness has differenf factors 1. Strength of hydrogen peroxide 2. Strength of the vinegar 3. How long was the stain 4. How much buildup 5. Quality of the fabric 6. Soaking time You may experiment and see what works best for you. Some deodorants are notorious in making deo buildups and damaging clothes. I suggest you get a deo without the aluminum content.
You would think some company would release an all-in-one solution/something you could throw in with laundry to combat this problem by now. Seems pretty common.
@@ArtandLes Sure, but you'd think. say Gillette who has the chemical formula of their deodorant/anti-perspirant could have their chemists create something that would react and break it down in the laundry. Of course it would have to also be gentle enough to not damage clothes/not be toxic.
Some brands are already using a good formula. All they have to do is remove the aluminum and there will be no build ups. I am now using deos without the aluminum ingredients. I hope other brands wull do the same. 😉

I know another way to get rid of armpit stains. First you spread baking soda on the armpit stain, then oxi clean, you toss it in the small washer and you set the washer on a hand wash setting. The big washer I have to experiment or ask my mom about. I took a look at my one blouse and it got most of the armpit stains out.

We tried it.on cotton. We're not sure on other kinds of fabric. Some fabrics are sensitive and some bleeds and fades color. It deoends on the quality of fabric.
I think baking soda is an important ingredient. Usually stain removal ingredients are baking soda and vinegar. Removing the baking soda may greatly affect effectiveness.

Yes. It can still work against stains and some buildups. Baking soda and vinegar duo is a famous recipe. But in removing build ups, hydrogen peroxide can act like an additional help to remove it.
The deodorant buildups doesnt hide when you wet your clothes. White stains can hide on dark clothes on wet cloth but build ups is still noticeable and sometimes becomes water proof.
I have been trying to remove an ink stain from my off white hoodie forever and everyone it dries up the stain reappears but I haven’t tried this method yet

Nylon clothing should be washed with care. You should never use chlorine bleach on them. We never tried the solution on nylon but we think this is a little bit to hard for nylon. It may work with nylon but have a risk of damaging the color or fabric especially if used in high concentration. Use it at your own risk.
I notice in your comments you keep mentioning that fabric quality is a factor in how well it works or if it damages the shirt. How can you tell what's quality? I have a bunch of black band t shirts, mostly from concerts (which is why I really want to save them), some from places like hot topic and spencer's. Just plain old generic unisex t shirts. Are you talking higher quality than that or do you think it'll work?
I am mentioning the quality of the fabric due to the fact that some fabric bleeds color when exposed to acidic liquid like vinegar. There are also many types of fabrics that may affect the severity of deo buildups and how it will react to acidic solutions. We only tested this to thick cotton shirts. f your shirt doesn't bleed during washes and not too thin like cotton, i think it has good quality. 😊

Changed my deodorant to non aluminum, same brand, and that solved the problem going forward.
Great! We also switched to a deodorant without aluminum.. And this prevents deo buildups

I think it was a polyester and cotton. I cant remember the percentage.

May I knw what peroxide concentration u used?
We used a 6% solution that we bought in our local pharmacy. Based on our research, in pharmacies, you can find concentrations from 3 to 9 percent. There are higher concentrations used for bleaching textiles in industries but we are not sure where you can buy it or if it is better. You may want to experiment if you want to.

I did this but got no results unfrotunately. Which side of the t-shirt should I do? The largest deodorant stains are from the inside but it's the outside that's visible too and that what's ruining it for me when wearing the t-shirt... So, I tried doing this on the outside side.
Sad to say it did not work. It depends on the severity of the buildup. Try to concentrate scrubbing and soaking the inside first. I recommend you try soaking it longer. But there is a risk of textile fading depending on the quality of the cloth
Do I have to hang it up to dry or can I dry it in the dryer?

Sorry to hear that. It means that the deo buildups were severe and damaged the color of the clothes underneath. This solution can help lift up and remove the buildups but it cannot restore faded colors.

Sad to hear that. Sometimes it depends on other factors such as the severity of the buildup, quality of the fabric and age of the buildups. You can try increasing the duration of the soaking process if your clothes have good quality fabric.

I'll give this a shot, i have 2 weeks before I can go home and fix 35 shirts with this issue. (Any way to un-shrink shirts as well? College has dryers that ruin clothes)
Hoping this helps. If deo buildups is your regular problem, try using deodorants without aluminum. It prevents deo buildups
@@ArtandLes it prevents deodorant build up, but promotes sweat and stink build up haha. I went without aluminum for years because I believed some of the warning abouts it only to re-research when I was older and find out that there is zero evidence that the aluminum in deodorant is bad for you. I still use a pretty natural option, but adding back in aluminum has made things WAY less swampy. I'll try this method eventually because my black shirts are getting destroyed.

Wouldn't the hydrogen peroxide whiten the clothes though? I have an almost exclusively black wardrobe with this problem and I'm worried I'm going to exchange a white deodorant stain for a hydrogen peroxide bleached white stain.
Actually, the hydrogen peroxide's purpose is to loosen and lift the stain from the fabric. The vinegar will likely bleach your shirt but depends on the quality of the fabric. As you can see, ny shirt is black and the color was fine after the wash.

If you can't find hydrogen peroxide at a pharmacy, you could try looking at gardening stores or hunting shops. Hydrogen peroxide can also be used to get rid of root rot in plants and to bleach skulls, which is why those kinds of stores will often also sell it.

If your dryer is enough to dry your clothes completely, there's no need to hang it. 😊 Most dryers cannot completely dry your clothes so you still need to hang it for a while to completely dry. 😊

You may experiment and see what works best for you. Some deodorants are notorious in making deo buildups and damaging clothes. I suggest you get a deo without the aluminum content.

@@ArtandLes Sure, but you'd think. say Gillette who has the chemical formula of their deodorant/anti-perspirant could have their chemists create something that would react and break it down in the laundry. Of course it would have to also be gentle enough to not damage clothes/not be toxic.
Some brands are already using a good formula. All they have to do is remove the aluminum and there will be no build ups. I am now using deos without the aluminum ingredients. I hope other brands wull do the same. 😉

I know another way to get rid of armpit stains. First you spread baking soda on the armpit stain, then oxi clean, you toss it in the small washer and you set the washer on a hand wash setting. The big washer I have to experiment or ask my mom about. I took a look at my one blouse and it got most of the armpit stains out.

I think baking soda is an important ingredient. Usually stain removal ingredients are baking soda and vinegar. Removing the baking soda may greatly affect effectiveness.

wet cloth actually hides the fact that the stain is still there ...
The deodorant buildups doesnt hide when you wet your clothes. White stains can hide on dark clothes on wet cloth but build ups is still noticeable and sometimes becomes water proof.
I have been trying to remove an ink stain from my off white hoodie forever and everyone it dries up the stain reappears but I haven’t tried this method yet

Nylon clothing should be washed with care. You should never use chlorine bleach on them. We never tried the solution on nylon but we think this is a little bit to hard for nylon.
It may work with nylon but have a risk of damaging the color or fabric especially if used in high concentration. Use it at your own risk.
I notice in your comments you keep mentioning that fabric quality is a factor in how well it works or if it damages the shirt. How can you tell what's quality? I have a bunch of black band t shirts, mostly from concerts (which is why I really want to save them), some from places like hot topic and spencer's. Just plain old generic unisex t shirts. Are you talking higher quality than that or do you think it'll work?
I am mentioning the quality of the fabric due to the fact that some fabric bleeds color when exposed to acidic liquid like vinegar. There are also many types of fabrics that may affect the severity of deo buildups and how it will react to acidic solutions. We only tested this to thick cotton shirts. f your shirt doesn't bleed during washes and not too thin like cotton, i think it has good quality. 😊
