That high part that goes "IIIII Blessed the rains" is the best thing ever
Y'know, this would sound great in a Volvo.
SmaMan I think I just realised why he chose this song for his Volvo
Wow, I never thought this song can sound even more 80s.
Well his icon is technically 90’s but I get the point, Fallouts a old game franchise
it actually sounds more 90s bc this would fit in a later NES game, when devs knew more about it
Africa (cc) 1980 (insert company name here)
Hurry player it's waiting for you
= press start =
The song came out in 1982 but it reached #1 on the US and Canadian Top 40 charts but only #3 in the UK and #18 in South Africa in 1983.
Sing it with me guys!
Verse 1: *doo doodoo doodoo do dooooooo ×4*
I hear the drums echoing tonight, but she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation. She's coming in 12:30 flight! The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation. I stopped an old man along the way, hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies. He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you!"
Chorus:
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you! There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do! I bless the rains down in Africa! Gonna take some time to do the things we never have!
Verse 2: doo doodoo doodoo do doooooo ×2*
The wild dogs cry out in the night, as they grow restless longing for some solitary company. I know that I must do what's right, as sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti. I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become!
Chorus:
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you.
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do! I bless the rains down in Africa! Gonna take some time to do the things we never have!
Verse 2 1/2 (mostly instrumental) doo doodoo doodoo do dooooooo ×2*
*Epic flute solo* Hurry voy, she's waiting there for you!
Chorus:
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you! There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do! I bless the rains down in Africa! I bless the rains down in Africa! I bless the rains down in Africa! I bless the rains down in Africa! I bless the rains down in Africa! Gonna take some time to do the things we never have! End.
Notes: the part where it says, "I bless the rains down in Africa!" five times is intentional. Those are the whole lyrics to Africa by Toto.
Cost: Free but if you want to like, feel free to! ;)
I bless the pixels down in Africa.

when u beat the boss of the hardest video game you have ever played
Ngl mate I'd have loved if this played once I beat the last boss on dark souls
This sounds like it would be the perfect credits roll song for an old school NES game. I'm not alone in this, am I?
Agreed. I feel like I'm sat on a high score screen, not putting in my initials so I can listen to the high score music.
As someone who used to play old NES games, this is way better arranged than anything you could ever hope to get out of that old thing. Maybe the SuperNES could have reproduced this, but I don't think even it could do all the little tricks the arranger managed here. As an example of one of the best arranged end credits of the SuperNES, see this: The Ending Credits of A Link To The Past th-cam.com/video/_aqUR0Y3dM0/w-d-xo.html
I HEAR THE DRUMS ECHOING TONIGHT
HE LOOKED AT ME AS IF TO SAY "HURRY BOY SHE"S WAITIN' THERE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!"
From that one NES game that doesn't loop the same 15 seconds of music
unless there would be an 8 bit version of Damned (the lobby music from COD BO)
This feels weirdly melancholy and bittersweet yet uplifting. What the fuck. It's awesome obviously but damn I didn't think an 8bit cover would make me cry then smile and then cry again wtf
I agree. The original is kind of melancholy in the writing. All descending chords and melodies.
Title: Africa
Developed by: TOTO
Published by: Nintendo and Konami
Platform: NES/Famicom
Year: 1989.
I just watched a guy set the door chime in his Volvo 240 to play this when his doors are open with the key in the ignition 😂
This plays during a scrolling level that has an optional side objective where you have to protect the wild animals that are traveling with you.
Bring them to the end of the level with you, and you have unlock the ability to summon them as a special attack.
The secret ending has Steve Irwin welcoming you and the animals to paradise.
Lyrics :
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu, tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu, tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu
Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tuuuu tu tu
kinda wish an old school game based on this song could be made, going through the African plains and the only way to kill enemies is to bless the rains and make it wash them away xD
@Mariokart360 same person, different profile, i fully agree with this! xD
Black Dracula but you can only kill him by blessing the rains down in Africa and waiting a few weeks for a holy hurricane to hit the continental U.S.
Searching for covers of 'Africa' is one of my favourite things to do on the internet. I am pleased to have stumbled upon this one. Pats on the back all around!
theres just something about them that sounds so nice
like emotional for some reason
immediately searches a good meme,
comes out even more appreciative of life.
Jezus holy christ. For how long have you been doing this? I really needed this in my life. You're a machine not human! Keep up the good work! Props.
This song is amazing. Hands down
Garco Leopard, you must pass over to the next life...and hope you get reincarnated into a frog. I mean, it worked for me

The "Toto Africa game"
Mission: Burn the library with books and shit.
(you'll get it if you watched the music video)
Lion King game vibes! All your stuff is amazing!
Whoever is behind these amazing 8 bit creations is seriously talented and should be very proud
There is a genius behind this that can only be explained in ancient texts, written by the lowly peasants who weren't worthy enough to stare upon the faces of the gods.
the greatest song ever created
"IT'S GONNA TAKE YOU A LOT TO DRAG ME AWAAAAAAYYY FROM YOUUUU!"
LETS TAKE THE TIME TO DO THE THINGS WE NEVER HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summer ending in 10 minutes, and I'm sitting and listening to this and belive that a new summer will come soonly.....
I remember when I wanted summer vacation to last forever. Can't wait for next summer vacation, though! Also not gonna complain about Quarantine being awful like the rest of the internet as I'm just happy to see stuff from better times.
When you go on a gravel road in your Subaru Outback
Damn what the heck how does this channel make the songs that I've been listening to lately
*Song so good, had to name a continent after it*
Next Vid....TOTO HOLD THE LINE
And Rosanna.
Africa's just my third favorite Toto song. I wish either Hold the line or Rosanna would have become an evergreen.
You should totally do Hold the Line by Toto now! This was epic!
I was thinking more along the lines of Rosanna, but an 8 bit cover of Hold The Line would give me the will to live

EDIT: nevermind, i found it and its everything i wanted and more, sorry!
Some guy just set his Volvo's door chime to this.
Uzzle the Puzzle Yeah look at his most recent videos, it's his car AND his sound
No. If you read the description, a FAN of 8BU did this to his 240. Not 8BU himself.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!
I'm crying, you don't know how much I really love this song. You're channel needs to be known around the world. I love it here 💖
AFRICA

Hey, I remember this song. I hear it on the radio so many times.
You've rekindled my love for toto. Bless you.
As a memer I think just because of this 8 -bit masterpiece the Africa meme should come back as a meme
you even put in that subtle bass roll at the end. superb!
All rise for the African continental anthem...
Im in love with this channel now
I love your music and your pixels!
I love 8-bit stuff. First video from you and I'm already subbed.
This would probably make for one of the best arcade game soundtracks ever! Someone should include it in their game.
I hear the AC humming in the night
Glow of amber screens providing my illumination
User uploads are a lovely sight
The modem lights reflect the constant flow of information
I feel connected to the world,
thinking about some distant paradise or fading memory
I try to filter out the new - sneakernet is faster than you knew!
It’s gonna take a while to roll this .tar for me
There’s nothing like a hundred megabytes of mp3
I bless the raid and my DLT
it's gonna take some time to save the songs I never heard
[1:43]
Someone is always paging for SYSOP,
i'm glad to keep them company while they upload the good stuff
Bandwidth like this don't come for free,
But its a nightly side gig my workplace would never notice,
they've got enough
By the way i'm doing all my tasks, this job is working good for me
It’s gonna take a while to roll this .tar for me
There’s nothing like a thousand megabytes of mp3
I bless the raid and my DLT
It's gonna take some time to save the songs I never heard

A song so damn good they named a continent after it
To the person who created this wonderful piece of 8 bit mastery. You are an angel amongst the darkness. Kudos to you and may you always have that light around your soul.
Who came here after watching the Volvo 240 that has this as the open door chime?
1:16 - 1:38 My favorite part. I like this song, because this part - fantastic. I am not alone?
Toto africa. A gbc game about a boys journey across the land.
A marvellous piece of art, love it
*Cries in 8-bit*
Why does this bring a smile to my face.
Why have i wasted my life instead of listening to this 24/7? Thanks to make my life meaningful.
