This was a great talk. I wish there were still exciting scenes around to document and get involved with. Maybe there are and they're just completely off my radar, but you have to admit there was something very special about the time and place where these guys created their best work. America in general could use a bit more of that punk rock spirit these days. It kinda feels like we're falling backwards into a stupor of indifference and cultural bankruptcy. I was hoping the T**** era would galvanize us to do something radical again, but more and more it seems like most people just don't give a shit. Anyway, thanks for hosting this. It was very enjoyable.

Glen's photography is sick! he has some of the best shots of the z boys.
Guy's right about the photos being inspiring. I remember seeing the photos for the 45 end on end by rites of spring and feeling like it really caught the scene feel to me, the darkness of the winter, etc. I miss those days. I don't think those were taken by Friedman though, I don't recall.

I kind of regret never documenting all my crazy half pipe skating but oh well, we were just living on the edge way back then, no thought of posing for pics. It was just for kicks and fun and the thrill of taking risks and doing tricks to top previous tricks or to outdo one another. Of course that coincided with getting an occasional nasty injury, but it was just part and parcel of the game. My crew used to go into WDC to see those bands Bad Brains and Fugazi over those years.
LOL, i think Glen asked me at at least at 2 shows back in the day if he could stand in front of me, him saying that gave me a deja vu moment. Fugazi let me take an entire roll of photos of them backstage in 1992 and all of them got destroyed by the processing company, that was my kind of luck. I took the chance of letting someone else develop them and got screwed.

Wow! Wasn't a waste getting into fugazi. But it was a very weird and awkward time.
Speaking of the no set list. Also makes it way more interesting for fans, especially ones who go to multiple shows. Although some fans will be disappointed, well, boo hoo.

In 2020 everyone thinks they are a photographer. Anyone can buy an expensive digital camera (or use a phone)and take "quality" photos but most don't know anything about the art form.
Joe and Ian are still looks young while Guy and Brendan looks like my grandpa now
It's the early balding thing. When you completely bald you tend to look the same 10 - 15 - 20 years later. 😉

@@IFP.249 She, along with a small handful of others in Congress, is the closest thing we have to leftists in public office in the U.S. She's in the Democratic Party but is closer to Socialist in her policy positions. If we really want things to change then we need to vote for more candidates like her instead of applying these ridiculous purity tests to determine who's "left" enough. That kind of thinking gets us nowhere.

I forgot to mention the hateful song Guy wrote -Smallpox champion usa which is baseless....never happened, a myth that he so much want's to be true. No one purposely could spread smallpox on blankets.
