So meany complicated explanations, I almost paid a stupid amount for a plumber to do it . Then I came across your video. Strait to the point no messing about job done 😁 Thanks 🙏😁
Thank you, very helpful. Even though I had replaced the cistern handle last year, I had forgotten how to do it and this saved me faffing around. I can now lower the water level to ensure I am not wasting water down the overflow pipe. Water bill shot up along with all over bills this year, 2022.
Thank you for this, really easy to understand. Just had our bathroom partially redone while we were away and the plumber disconnected the toilet for the plasterer. When he reconnected it and we got back, the toilet flush was really weak. Just taken me 2 minutes to fix that. Thanks! (We have the last type of ball (cup) valve unfortunately.
The part I'm trying to adjust looks very close indeed to the cistern ball valve @ 01:37...but sadly has no adjustment control! Given this and the symptoms are as same as the video description, should this be replaced? And it is easy to do for someone with only very basic DIY skills?
Thank you I have a dripping overflow not dripping much but I live on my own and I have no idea how to fix anything. Your video has explained things very well. So maybe I don’t need to get a plumber out. Thank you
Thanks very much for this video, it's been a great help to me just now! Can't believe I missed that little screw slot on the the ballcock.. :D Thanks again!
Great video, someone suggested a rubber washer on the brass end ? Better than fibre for a seal....Do you know the size I should get for a 1/2 bsp ? Thanks 🙏
Dereton I have a Torbeck - I have wound it all the way up to get more water, but still the toilet doesn't flush stuff away. Are there anymore adjustments? Thanks
Ive just tested ours out The arm of the ball when it knocks that white little piece to stop. Ours doesnt stop it hisses a little bit. That part that you are showing at time 2.09
Hi, i have the older type you have in this video and there is a dripping from that little tap on top...how do i go about fixing this please? Hope you can help thaks.thanks
We have this old ballcock valve. Toilet overfills and leaks out by handle during night because nobody flushes it for a while. The tank also fills up even though the tap is off. It is the seal that could be work in the part that lets the water fill up
I know how to adjust the water level in the cistern, but my problem is the water level in the pan is about three inches too high, which causes splashing. Is there a way to solve that? Thanks in advance.
Ive got a really old outside loo and recently the water level reaches the overflow pipe. It’s an old ball, cock with brass . Can I stop this filling too high by bending the copper but?
From watching a bunch of your videos in quick succession I see that you've upgraded from your old toilet into this new square one! So when does a plumber opt to change their own toilet? When it's worn? Or when the missus says so?
I have the very common older type . It had a contious flow of water so adjusted float due to getting stuck which cured it but when i flush you have to press twice any suggestions ive adjusted the nut to try get more water but the water flow just continues like b4 so need lock it off after its fully poured water any suggestions?
I adjusted my ball valve and water is still trickling into the overflow can't stop the water from doing so. Change the ball valve not made no difference my water isolation is damaged so I can't turn it off I wanted to adjust the amount of water going in but I'm stuck
Thank you so much for this. I've spent the last 3 days (on & off) trying to adjust the float arm due to water overfilling and going down the overflow pipe (first time in 26 years without any issues). I figured it was just the float arm because if I lifted it, the water would stop coming in. The nut was tight so I've no idea how it changed. I didn't come across any that looked like mine until yours (1.19) where you say it hasn't got a name. Before watching your video I had figured out finally that I can adjust the nut (had tried many times but it finally came loose). I've experimented by adjusting it twice and the water is still not shutting off, but you say you like to have it 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the overflow. Do you mean the top of the plastic ball or the edge of the float arm? Thankyou - Julie

Glad you like them!
Great video, someone suggested a rubber washer on the brass end ? Better than fibre for a seal....Do you know the size I should get for a 1/2 bsp ? Thanks 🙏
Yes 15 mm. Buy the way fibre is better as the rubber distorts as you tighten it up.
@@dereton33 thanks loads👍
super video , so clear and easy to follow . Great craftsman.
Thank you very much!
Exactly what I needed to see, job done! Thanks for posting 👍

Afraid not.
Ive just tested ours out
The arm of the ball when it knocks that white little piece to stop. Ours doesnt stop it hisses a little bit. That part that you are showing at time 2.09
Get a new valve. They are very cheap.
Hi, i have the older type you have in this video and there is a dripping from that little tap on top...how do i go about fixing this please? Hope you can help thaks.thanks
Just give the arm a bend down with some grips. If it still drips then change the valve.
But what's the valve and how to change it.. Please show how to. Many thanks.. As I am awful at all this stuff but plumbers are too expensive 😮
Thanks so much- this video helped me stop a leak!
You're welcome!

It will be the washer worn. They are so cheap I would just replace the whole valve.
Sir, you just helped me so much! Thank you!!
No problem.
Hi, I was wondering if you knew what the rattling sound followed by a clunk is coming from the cistern ?
The ball valve
Thanks so much - your videos have helped me out several times. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Thank you so much, like I've watch more than 10 video's and your's was able to fix able to fix it
No problem Pete.
I know how to adjust the water level in the cistern, but my problem is the water level in the pan is about three inches too high, which causes splashing. Is there a way to solve that? Thanks in advance.
No it`s the pan design with a high outlet bend.
Thanks.@@dereton33
Thank you very much. You've been extremely helpful.
No problem!
my go to person for all all the house ,👍all the best buddy
Thanks . Cheers Al.

You can bend the brass arm down, but it doesn't always stop it.

Change the valve and set to the water level line in the cistern.
@@dereton33 i thought that. was debating getting a flomasta valve unless you have any better suggestions many thanks
How to your fix a radiator leak that's not coming from any of the fittings it's coming just after where the fittings are for the ball like joint
New rad Im afraid.
@@dereton33 OK thanks for the reply and your help

There must be some debris in the new valve you fitted, remove the valve and check it is clear.

No the cistern level mark that is imprinted on the rear of the cistern wall. It may just be a straight line.
@@dereton33 Thank you for replying (I know your post isn't recent). I sorted it before I saw your reply. I just turned it clockwise a bit more.
What are footprints or pair of Wilson’s as I’m 78 female and like to diy .
They are an adjustable wrench.
