Thank you for demonstrating this beautiful fly. The ingenious snelling of the hook frees me from the usual large swing hook, allowing a large variety of smaller hooks to serve. I will try this with some of my Kamasan hooks, which imoress me with their strength. Well done. To the vise!
Try a tmc 150 2x strong in size 6 or smaller and bend the eye up. Perfect stinger hook. I use them all the time. Will hold a trout to an average steelhead no problem.
Help me understand how you can feel comfortable that the trailing hook isn't merely going to be pulled off of the leading shank after you cut the hook off. The fight of a steelhead I would think would be strong enough to merely pull the rear hook right out through the windings, no?
Hey Barth! This is a smaller fly we would mainly be targeting trout with. Though I think it would hold up to our summer steelhead here as well. That connection with the mono to the shank, when wrapped, glued & thread wrapped is very strong and proven.

I've used commercially availbale snelled hooks as a stinger before. Works great! Skips a step or two
Great looking pattern, with nice fishy materials. Love the hook choice. Looking forward to trying this one. Thanks!
