@BristolRE We have some streetdecks, couple of years old now and I got soaked driving it in the rain as water poured out of a panel above me all over the electric controls and ticket machine. They look nice....but that's it
It appeals to me how there's the natural evolution in buses on this route. Initially, we have the integral Wrightbus Pulsar Gemini 2 DL (fleet name: DW) and now we have the electric successor, the integral Wrightbus Streetdeck Electroliner (fleet name: ES/O).
I cant lie , These electroliner buses are really Amazing and they are my very 1st favourite buses , I saw an electroliner bus on route 86 on Wednesday at Romford Bus Stand , Once again and overall these electroliner buses on route 307s are better than T Buses
These buses seem incredibly sophisticated compared with the buses that I drove years ago. I'm glad that I retired when I did because I just couldn't cope with all this technology. I raise my hat to your good self and all the other 307 drivers.
Look like a nice bus and great for the environment. I assume the different colour from the little I can see is to indicate the priority seating, same as they have on the jubilee line certainly
It is, yeah. I don't approve of it either, a slightly different shade of green mightve been better. This just looks all worn regardless of how new the seat is
These seats look a lot more comfy than the ones on the E400 EV Cities by GAL. The headrest on those forces your head to be completely level which is quite uncomfortable whereas these ones look a lot more ergonomic. I still prefer the low backed seats on the DWs, the padding and shape is amazing.
@BristolRE Plus, the ISA system should be banned, because it's very annoying when you're still driving 10mph on the main road! It causes traffic congestion easily!
@@jj318 How what? You asking about the ISA? Yes, very dangerous as it takes ages to update. You can leave the stand at Brimsdown as an example, which is 10mph, and still be doing 10mph for the next 200 yards in a 30mph limit. Cars think you are stopping and overtake in a dangerous situation.
Dublin Bus are getting these soon. I believe their having issues getting planning permission for the chargers in the garages so some of the 2006 ALX400s are staying on the road for longer.
The buses on the 307 am I right to say the 279 are getting some buses I have being on the new 307 the ouce I've noticed a problem back of the seats have got USBs but they're only on one of the seats If you're sitting with someone you don't know you'll be fighting over to USB socket For the best part the front seats got a USB socket
Thanks for the video Peter, I'm not a technically minded person these are just my thoughts and are probably wrong, wouldn't it be a better option to have a hydrogen fuel cell battery hybrid and use the combination of the battery to get the bus going from a standing stop and then the fuel cell takes over, I think the hydrogen cylinders would refuel a lot quicker than charging the battery up.
No downstairs rear window again. Were lessons not learned late 1990s when the early DLAs had no downstairs rear window? Many passengers complained it was like being in a cave. As a passenger, I for one like to see through the rear window to see if my connecting bus is coming up behind. The TLs (New Routemasters) have no rear upstairs window, so same problem upstairs.
I think the lack of a rear window is to allow more cooling and batteries but I do know that the Optare electric buses do have a rear window but its rather small
I miss the rear window as I used to angle the small cab mirror and use it to see when it was safe to pull out of a bus stop. Now I cant see what's coming up behind.
Do you like the electric drive? The car I drive during my lessons is hybrid. Whenever it’s in the electric mode I love how smooth it is. That thing with the brake is quite common on EV’s. When you “start” it you have to keep the foot on the brake otherwise the READY light will not come on. (Hence it’s not accelerating) Those alarms in the cab are hideous.
I've never been asked for any GSCE for a bus driving job. Usually they'll give you a basic English and Maths test at interview, but never been asked if I have a GSCE or other grade - so no, nothing required
I knew it wouldn’t be long before you found a few faults. Technology needs a little testing ground before full service. One good thing with London, you’re left alone on the stand unlike up here
do these have the same door interlock system on the brake pedal like the e200/400 mmc's? i only ask cause we're getting a batch of these at stagecoach for the 86 and wanna know if its gonna be some strange dance to get the thing moving lol
Yes, you have to tap the footbrake after releasing the handbrake - most annoying. Also cannot be moved with any door open, including the cab door, assuming yours are the same as ours
@@BristolRE cab door too? that’s gonna be a pain. i believe they’re the same ones as yours, if not then ours will be the facelift models that have just been released.
@@ajmoff6888 Another issue is changing the steering position. This cannot be done when the bus is running. So if a live changeover of drivers, you have to turn the bus off, engage the ignition using your 'fob' or 'bomb', then adjust the steering column, then start the bus up again.
Nice Peter! I have to say, I’m impressed with how the big bus manufactures like Wright, Alexander Dennis and Optare are doing with their new buses
It is nice, I won't deny

The digital mirrors would be a lot better if you could adjust the FOV on them. I find them to be far too narrow and not zoomed in enough

They accelerate lovely, but do have intelligent speed assist to keep you under the sped limit

Hey Peter great shot of the ES. Would you say the ES is longer than the DW. Short or long wheelbase?
