      '69 roadster with a 400hp tri-power. Beautiful body design, a very cool engine with that tri-power, yet drivable and easy to maintain. Not all that rare so it would not sit in the garage and never see use.

    A guy here in Moncton has a 1967 corvette convertible 427 tri-power 4 speed side pipe car with 6200 miles. The car is absolutely 100 percent original . Never restored. When I say 100 percent original I mean everything is original.
    Same colour with black interior. He has probably the best corvette collection in Canada.

      Gary Klutt. The 67 is like it just left the factory. He’s got a 63. He’s got a 62. He’s got two 1993 ZR1 with almost no mileage. He got a 2008 Z06 special corvette with 1.8 kms. He’s got probably the best and very rare corvettes in Canada

    My all time favourite car, got a ride in one when I was 11, it was new and belonged to my uncle. You could line up every new super car and I would still take this Vette it ticks off all the boxes.

    When I was in college (mid to late 70's), there was a "Used Car lot" about a block away from the college campus I went to, ... and they always seemed to have quite a few 67's. They were "dirt cheap" then, ... would have been the time to buy one of those then! If I remember, around 7K at the time for most of them.

    I worked and have my brother owns a Corvette part business since 1980, we have owned dozens and restored a few dozen mid-year/C2 corvettes 1965/396, 1967/427's Coups & Roadsters and "Everyone" does not prefer sidepipe cars! If you every actually own these cars and drive these cars you will discover in a hurry that after a 1/2-1 hour you want to get out of the darn thing as it will literlly give you a head ache! + Lood at a Corvette from the side and it is much more sleek and better looking-less chunky. + when you get on especially a high horse big block rather that hearing only one half of the engine exhaust beating into to head, you hear the massive engine sound most and then the high revving sound of both exhaust pipes! Not to mention from the back you have much better looking car with both SS exhaust tips coming out of the lower body of the car. At least this car wasn't ruined with repro bolt on wheels like many do. VERY nice original car, I just had to give you my opinion because too many people are ruining orignal cars with noisy side pipes because they think that other people are impressed by them. Only to have a car that they can no longer enjoy for long trips.

    Awesome vid! My first choice would be a '67 427-cid tri-power/4-spd. coupe w/factory side pipes in Marina Blue. My second choice would be a '69 427-cid L88/4-spd. coupe w/factory side pipes in LeMans Blue. I remember watching your dad road-test cars like these on "Dreamcar Garage" back in the day! 😄👍🇺🇸

    My buddy has a 67 427 coup, factory pipes, BUT, he swapped out stock Muncie linkage for HURST competition plus linkage , and put Bilstein shocks and BF Goodrich TAs ,, WHAT A FREAKING DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING

    I agree with two caveats: I would never want to own a solid-lifter big-block Corvette. Setting the valves is a pain. The better combination was the 400 hp hydraulic cam version, still 3x2, with the aluminum head option. Having had one of these beasts in my family, my second caveat is this: if you intend, as you should, on driving this car or one like it, know that it is outstandingly unaerodynamic and has significant lift at high speeds, is severely under-tired stock and needs at least 2" wider tires to be driven fast (check your wheel offsets..) and does not countenance unattentive drivers. It will be, for the skilled driver a BLAST to drive, though.

      I thought the 400 3x2 was an oval port head engine, basically a 390 version with the 3x2 on an oval port intake and smaller jetted center cab. They made aluminum oval ports? I knew that for a very brief moment,
      Chevrolet put an aluminum Qjet intake on the 390 hp version as well.

      Correct, no aluminum heads on L36 or L68 due to the oval ports used on those engines, aluminum heads on solid lifter engines only.

    A microfiche was basically a negative image of a document that was reduced in size so you could fit many pages of documents into a single microfiche. A microfiche looked like a film negative but was thicker so it could be handled easier. You would use a projector that uses a light source that beamed the light through the microfiche and would project the image to a screen or viewer. It was really a very cool "analog" way to preserve documents before the digital tech era.

    I have my perfect Corvette: a 2021 C8 Corvette hardtop convertible in shadow gray with adrenaline red and black 3LT interior; Z51 package. Chrome Trident wheels of course. C8 is the best Corvette ever at this point in time. Can’t wait for the Z06.

      Microfilm was on reels and microfiche was a small sheet. I used both 30 years ago as aircraft maintenance manuals were issued like that.

    I drove a yellow one just like this -- tri-power, 427, 4-speed convertible -- used to tune it for the owner. Very sweet, quick -- but the reality is that the build quality lacked a lot.

    I honestly believe that those corvettes, I think that original body style was created under the
    "working name" or "in factory name" barracuda? Which is Perfect, if accurate.
    I think they are The Most Beautiful Automobile EVER Made. Bar none. Ferrari, Lambo's, Maclaren, Jags, Mazzerotti, all beautiful works of performance engineering art. They all fall short. Those 'vettes(to me there is a couple different years and configurations) the leg pipes, the sharp predatory leading edge of the hood, the way that it appears like a twin bumper splits in the center, making some kind of hungry maw, coming for you, the hide away head lights, sometimes moulded hood, sometime drop top, some aviation-fuel devouring, mechanized monster's heart, seething under the hood where other cars have motors...
    So so so so so so beautiful.

    i liked my 66 convertible more. it had the "mother in law" seat behind the shifter where the 67 had the emergency brake. I once was on a double date with my buddy on the passenger seat. His girl on his lap. My girl next to me on the thin mother in law seat. 4 people in a vette.

    Semantics.
    The tank build sheet states the car was equipped with these options. The tank build sheet does not prove that the engine, wheels, exhaust, etc. on the car now were the ones that the factory installed in 1967.

      Right and tank stickers and most all other paperwork can be faked, forged and even aged to look real and has been for years. The Canada documentation is really the only way to know it's a real car but it just copies the tank sticker but it's probably the best you can do at this point. At least you know the engine is what they are claiming it to be.

    For the record, the Stock linkage on the 1964 on up Corvette's is not tight, its twice as wide as a hurst shifter, or muncie linkage of the ERA. You also have the option of shortening the throw of the linkage or the steering ratio to 16 to 1 on these cars. They came long throw and long steering from factory and you get points take of in NCRS or Bloomington for any mod's even dealer installed options so this might be why many of these restorers don't make these adjustments.

    65 Corvette 396,425 h.p.Eng.Only year a 396 Came in a Corvette.That Same Eng.Was offered in Chevelles for a Few Years.Friend of Mine @My Last Duty Post in ARMY Had One,the Chevelle Version was Labeled a L78.Same Eng.as 65 Vette.Story I heard was That Corvette Club of America insisted to Chevy that the 425 H.p.Rating was Only to be Used on the Corvette,So They Could Claim the Top H.p. Eng.of the Era,So Chevy Claimed Only 375 h.p. on the Chevelle L78.

    In reality these C2 corvettes drove with the ride quality of a truck. They look nice but lack seriously in suspension and handling.

    I'm confused. The GM of Canada build info shows A/C but I didn't see any signs of A/C. Is there a mistake on the build info? Seems you couldn't GET A/C with the 427/435 HP engines. And a microfiche for all you young un's was a film that had all the information on a slide type 4x6 (I think) that you loaded into a projector and it had a magnifier built in and showed that page on the screen. You simply slid the pointer around to find the item you were looking for. This was used for parts catalogues with drawings. This was used until the 1980's I believe. So, if you could check on the A/C I would appreciate it. It DOES show the car you have with other options, so it would be interesting to find out. Also I find it interesting they only offered PowerSlide for automatics. I would have thought they would have put TH 400's in (a much better automatic transmission).

      Air Conditioning never offered or available with any solid lifter big block. Chevrolet did offer that combination a couple of times with the small block but never on the big blocks.
      On the transmission, I always heard the Turbo 400 just didn't really fit the transmission tunnel with the clearance that Chevrolet wanted so they decided to wait until the C3 to release the TurboHydramatic in the Vette. And on the Powerglide, it was available behind the hydraulic lifter big blocks only, never behind the solid lifter engines, those all required the 4-speed for 65 thru 67 and also 68, the first time you could get a solid lifter big block behind an automatic was 69 and it was a special high upshift model that would shift at the 6500 rpm redline.

    side pipe car is NOT what you want. The noise will give you thumping migraine headaches. Also, the under body exhaust actually produces MORE power than the noisy side exhaust system.

      Going by the magazine times, the 66 L72 would smoke the L71. One of the rags ran a 12.8 @ 112 mph on the skinny 6.70 tires and a 3.36 gear and can't remember another 12 second time for a completely stock Vette back then.

    4:29 - Speedo is not working (to keep the odometer inactive?). I entered high school in '67, and there was no car more desirable to me, at the time. I lived in Detroit then, and did see these 427/435s on the road (along with 427 Cobras). I would be very hesitant to take this one - considering the necessity for its absolute showroom-perfection down to the tiniest detail - on the road before selling it.

    Which GM of Canada division has those microfiche?? I called the Montreal GM division and they told me they have no documents on 1970 vettes! infact they referred me to the corvette historical society!! thanks!

    It’s a super nice car but being a triple crown car why isn’t the speedometer working I saw it on the video that would compromise the accuracy of the miles and a car that expensive you want to have all the accurate information just saying but I still love it when I 16 my dad had a 66 427 425 hp soft top I still remember it so I bought a 2013 grand sport convertible I like alot

    Did these come with removable hard top ?

      Yes. The convertible came standard with a soft top and from there you had several options..
      - Keep the soft top as is.
      - Order the hardtop for extra cost in addition to the soft top.
      - Order the hardtop in place of the soft top for no extra cost. Good for buyers who liked the looks of the hardtop and by removing the soft top and hardware it freed up valuable interior storage space. And racers often took this option as it was cheaper than the coupe and some believed stiffer and more aerodynamic.

      Speedometer is working and actually wasn't disabled - that shot was just from a standstill at a red light (took the steadiest view I could find). Great eye to catch that though!

    Big deal. These dorks brag about the originality of the car. Here is a flash for you. Having a Vette has drive well and is reliability what it is all about. BTW, I had 4 Vettes with side pipe and I really dislike them. The car vibrates and resonate with headache throbbing noise from the pipes. My current 67' big block car has high performance under the car mufflers. No obnoxious noise just driving panacea.

      I’m 6’1’ and I have plenty of room in my 64 coup with the seat all the way back. Now my 72 is tight. My son is 6’5’ and he fits in both cars too.

      I've owned a bb 67 conv for 35 years now, and I'm 6'2". Luckily my Vette had a telescopic steering column. That gives me just enough room for shifting the 4 speed.
