I have a 2004 1.3 yaris and absolutely love it, it has 280.000 km but still going strong. Never had any issues with it except for the brake making a weird noise when ur going 10 km/h.
I've done everything you mentioned on my 51 plate Tsport. I'm 35 years old and I decided to sell my RS3 so that I could afford 3 top small hatchbacks for my garage to keep. I got a Lupo GTI, a 106 GTI and now a Tsport. I've never regretted that decision since 👍 great video .
I've a 1999 one 178,000 miles no problems going well going cheapest car i ever bought jusr got it to get me to work 3 years ago and id say with regular service and maintenance heres easily another 10 years in it,going to try get the lowering springs looks well on yours, otherwise for its year paintwork and bodywork is very clean worth spending the few bob on
One thing I would’ve added, is the head unit wiring. Explaining the link between both original dash units. Since the upper one isn’t a head unit, yet you would use it’s buttons to operate the original head unit. And a quick pic of OEM>ISO Wiring would be helpful to a lot of people. Personally took me at least six hours to find proper documentation, because I wasn’t gonna tear the dash apart and follow the wires
Hey thanks for sharing your story of your troubles! Yeah this is something that would have been good to add in my radio install video but sometime for myself I can forget about that kind of thing as it's second nature to me now. Maybe even just a video on what a headunit need to work. Power wire, ground, 12 volt switch ect. Something for me to thing about!
Basically done everything you’ve mentioned to my 1.3 Poly bushed drop links Tein springs T sport seats Exhaust Speakers and headunit Pads T sport skirts Diagnosed the old drop links when one snapped in halve mid corner 😂 Fitting my t sport bumpers once there painted as well
I would have hate to have seen the body roll when it did snap! I miss my old sportex exhaust :( It looked and sounded good but rusted far to quick xD Should look good once it all together. I'm think about getting a t sport yaris but I honestly not sure if its worth the extra power. I need to drive one first to make my mind up
Do you have a French or jap yaris and how did you find fitting the tsport seats in it? I'm looking to buy some now but don't know how or if they'll fit
There is a Yaris which is my grandads and used to be my mums which has been used for over 21 years and still works quite well, even after the paint chipping which was repaired and the spilled milk which smelt for a while but is gone now. The Yaris is a beautiful car
ive got a mk2 yaris at the moment (im only 18 aha), This video was really helpful. My dad is in to his speaker systems and had a spare amp and subwoofer so thats already been done, springs exc will be happening within next few months. :D
Nice man! I wanted a MK2 when I was looking for my first Yaris! Subs are such a simple thing that adds a lot to your sound range! All yaris's are monster trucks on stock springs!
I’m 15 turning 16 soon so i’ll be able to start driving, and i’m getting my dad’s old 2009 Yaris S Sedan in “Blazing Pearl Blue” that he stopped using since he got his new car. Its probably not doing very well because it hasnt been used in pretty much 6 years through some rough winters. Got about 69k miles (110k km) on it and I plan to add some performance mods, maybe even engine swap to a corolla 1.8L down the line to actually make it quick. Gonna do some exterior mods as well like springs and new wheels. Hope to actually make a yaris sedan look nice, especially with the S package, its got slight factory body mods already that make it look a whole lot better than the regular sedan. I’ll definitely be adding these mods to my list of things I want to do with it. I live in america, just for clarification because yaris models vary by country
Since you have the Yaris SE parts bin available, you might see what all can come off that. The rear disks (and likely larger front disks) are both likely plug and play. I really like the S hatchbacks and SE (aside from the horrible turning circle-- they have a unique sport steering rack), but no matter what, they're nowhere near as light as my Echo Coupe. At least with a Yaris, you can fit the Corolla/xD 1.8L Dual VVTi. Not as peppy as a 1NZ IMO, but very smooth and proven regardless.
Just bought a 1999 Toyota Yaris for £50! Body work is a bit battered but its a nippy bugger. Good video. Im wanting to upgrade with all you suggest but a mechanic was telling me to find a 2 litre engine that fits in it lol. Then supercharge it to hell.
I have a recent purchase on the XP10 Vitz/Yaris on my end as well, handles like a boat, but I think it's comfy enough to get me from point A to Z, but we're different, as for the sound, I only just installed a very inexpensive head unit bought on your typical hardware store for car applications with no reducing on the high spectrum whatsoever, sound with bass, mid's and the high's is constant all the way up to max, but my Kenwood KDC unit was never like that. Subwoofer installed with an amplifier that cuts out when I go to eager on the bass, but at least I don't k!ll my subs and the built in speaker down low and under the windows is actually doing a good job in keeping up with the sound level all around, although the mid could be better, but it's okay for what it is, and I'm still trying to k!ll the speakers and the car, not really, but it works🤣
There is a limit to how much you can spend on speakers before you need to start looking at sound proofing the car. Sounds like you are right there 😂 For your head unit the Kenwood will have a better built in amp. Kill a Toyota? Drive it through some salty water!
A note on the "3 clicks" handbrake adustment. Have you had the rear end in the air with the handbrake released, and verified that the shoes don't drag? Mine started dragging at around 4/5 clicks, so I increased it to 6.
Nope it dosen't drag! It's a right jigsaw puzzle to get the rear drums set up right haha. I started with a FM to aux adapter but I hated the sound quality and how fiddley it was!
mine used to stop with 1 click.. until i took it to a shop to get a wheel alignment done and when they parked it they ripped the e brake super tight and way up i had to use both hands to undo it, not it needs 3-4 clicks and still rolls a foot or so when i do. Dont let other people touch your ebrake. Probably stretched cable
@@DriveShifty can't remember the brand but I know for a fact that they are mid range performance breaks 😂 and they are working great rn cant wait to start adding more to my car
@@joefries7046 that must be the brand I got, they are good and have lasted me this long still haven’t replaced! Little grinding now but I can still stop on a dime.
No problem! Yeah I'll try my best xD So if you have ever flipped up the seats you are half way there! Remove the head rests. Remove the 2 bolts under the base of the seat. You will find them where the legs of someone would be if they sat in the middle seat. On the frenchy they are a weird torques head bolt. Fold the backs down and lift the bar at the back that would flip the seats. Wiggle it out the car without scratching stuff xD I hope this helps. It is the same as flipping them but you need to remove the two bolts holding them in!
I just changed my yaris dash to the vitz jdm rs dash! what a mission! But now i got the sick real tachometer instead of this digital trash! I had to rewire the plugs and extrend them by 25cm as they plugged in on different sides! but otherwise she all bolted up and no more crappy cluster! mines a mk2 tho :)
That sounds as if it was a massive pain! Trying to get a soldering iron in to do the dash speakers on my one was a pain and that was only 4 wires! Awesome work man. Good to see the newer ones are getting modded!
@@DriveShifty My back was screwed afterwards from being hunched up inthe middle of the car there. I also put the car up and realized it has full trd suspension, lowering springs shocks and rubbers! Mines a 4door but its trd ncp91r with the kit and 1.5 manual. trd exhuast and intake and it had the trd racing decals...but they were long since destroyed by the sun so i had to also spend a day with the heat gun and a credit car getting the stickers off so the car looked mint again. @@vctrsone Thats awesome! I would look after those TRD parts. The are like gold on a the MK1's. That's awesome! You should make some videos on it if you do. Great video man, I just bought my first car 2011 Yaris t-spirit. One thing I'd really appreciate if you made a comment with all the mods detailed in text. I stay in Scotland and aw but I still struggle to understand the details of what you're recommending.
I would do the close captions for my videos if it wasn't a massive pain to work with. I've done it for a few of them and its a buggy mess. If you look at it from my view TH-cam wants me to keep people's attention spans on the video. If I put it all into the comments or the description then there would be no reason to watch the video 😅
i have an 04 echo and i put 205/50r15 wheels and tires on it, some sticky rubber and a front strut tower brace and it corners like mad. it DOES have body roll so i will be looking for a better sway bar but it still sticks like crazy. Not sure if i want to get different springs tho
If you're in the U.S. market like I am (Echo), get a Scion rear beam. Unlike most markets, our North American Echoes didn't have the integrated rear swaybar, even the Canadian RS Hatch didn't. Australian Echo sedans even had a loaded rear beam. That, and it opens up aftermarket choices a smidge. I have a TRD/Progress rear swaybar for the xA/xB as well, and on a stock Echo torsion beam, I had to drill two holes as the bolt mounting points are a bit longer on the Scion torsion beam. One of the Echo owners even took a picture of the two beams side by side, and the Scion unit overall looks a little "beefier." And of course, xA seats are basically Yaris TS seats, which is an easy swap (xB has a much taller frame and extra bolt, but the pads can be swapped to stock Echo frame). I also have some 205/50r15's on my Echo, on very light Advanti Storm S1's. Awesome combo. For now I'm back to xB steel wheels (15x6) and 185/55 tires... lord I miss those 205's, even though it's the exact same Kumho PA31 tire.
@@hduncan2587 wow thats alot of usfull information! Hey man, I don't think it does but just in case I wanted to check the drum brakes don't have asbestos right? Also I was thinking of buying a 1.3 as a first car and converting the brakes to disc, do you reckon that's worth it?
Good question. I'm not sure about the Asbestos in the brake pads. Resreach into it would need to be done. I've never see a warning stick on a set of pads saying that it contains Asbestos. You would think it would only be on really old stuff. As for converting it to disks on the rear unless you are going to be doing track days and racing it isn't really needed. You can get a pretty good braking set up just by keeping on top of the rear drums and adjusting them. You would be better off sticking a set of upgraded pads in the fronts if you are looking for a better brakes. To convert to rear disks you need a T sport rear axle and even at that you might as well get the bigger front brakes and the engine out of it!
@@DriveShifty Okay, thanks. I just wanna buy one as a fun and affordable daily driving, it's between this and the 1.4 Vauxhall Corsa c, but I'll probably go for this since Toyota is always reliable, it looks better imo and hopefully it's more fun to drive. So probably not worth switching to disc brakes on the rear, just hoping it has no asbestos but I might upgrade the front brakes.
@@TDF2004 If it's anything to go off the yaris in the video is my first car and I've had it since 2014. I've done well over 70,000 miles in it and it's even passed 150,000 miles. It needed welding as like all car they become rusty. Upgrading the front pads is a really nice upgrade. It's also easy to do and really good for if you are starting to work on your own car! Even if you run around on the stock pads and get a feel for them, then upgrade them so you can feel the difference. It's always good to know why to change them
Just got given a 2000 1.0 yaris collecting it tonight will be a bit of a change but much more economical and looking forward to doing little bits to it
The mid range drivability is nicers as well. But a few of the yaris's ECU's are not remapable so you would have to go piggy back or standalone which is money!
Just my own personal experience, but I bought this car an 08 model used in 2016 and the what looks like stock system is enough to play proper bass music with enough power and clarity to shake the mirrors just a smidge lol obviously its not a booming system but im honestly blown away still 4 years after i bought it the cars 12 years old and the speakers still pump well. That being said I'm planning a 3000 dollar upgrade to the sound system cause im a fan of having my internal organs vibrated and blasting bass lol
I can't comment on the mk2 modles but I know the MK3 MR2 had a great sound system and it was the same age as the mk1 yaris. Hopefully they upgraded the sound systems between the MK1 and the MK2
I'm not sure what part of the world you are from but in the uk when have handy sites like eurocarparts where you can type in your reg and fit parts that fit. Ebaying "Toyota yaris 2005 springs and shocks" and comparing the pictures to your yaris is one of the most basic ways of doing things. And lastly you can always try asking the selling if they fit you car! Hope this helps
@@Isah305 Oh wow! Turns out my videos have more of a reach than I though! It will be nice and sunny there! Yeah just replace the 2005 with 2009! No problem!
Hey I am looking at changing my corsa 1.4 c to a yaris 2003, and I was wondering if you have any suggestions for a touch screen or music system? Also thank you for the tips on the springs my mums 1999 yaris has a lot of body roll
I've always went with Kenwoods for headunit's. I've never owned any touch screen stuff. Not my kind of thing. Best off reading reviews on them! I've seen some folk have good luck with the android ones but I tend to stay clear from them as when you get a rubbish one, it is really rubbish! They do have a lot of body roll from stock. Doesn't give you the sporty feels haha
You can make them or get them from hyper-sport.co.uk/handling/yaris-poly-droplinks-d-bushings. When I bought them I had to get them shipped over from the US as they only did them for a Toyota BB
Best to do some research into PCD's, offsets, widths and diameter to understand what you are looking for. Not really the case of typing Yaris aftermarket wheel if you know that I mean. If you search "wheel sizes explained" and "what is a PCD". This will give you a good insight into them
I find my 1.3 t spirit handles really well after wider wheels and tyres l, body roll doesn't seem an issue with mine but to be fair I have come from a lifted diesel truck 😂
I think the lifted truck would be very rolly xD Yeah same here! Went from the standard 185/65/14 to 195/50/15 and it was night as day! I didn't want to put the 14's back on for when I was refurbing the 15's it was that bad haha. Lets be honest the lifted truck bombing about quarys would be more fun than the yaris
Unfortunately I can't give you a brand that you can go out and buy. When I bought mine years ago I bought them for a Toyota BB and they had to come from america. People tend to make them out of some threaded bar, nuts, washers and universel poly bushes
This might be a dumb question but I thought lowering spring basically rendered the shock absorbers useless? I am asking bc I have a 2009 passo and its worse than yaris in terms of it's monster-truck stance. I have put vogtland lowering springs to fix the height, but bumps in the road are still ridiculous, I am searching for solutions, maybe changing dampers could help?
How do you mean the bumps are ridiculous? As in it bounces a lot after or that because they stiffer its to solid. If it bonces along after a bump in the road then sounds like the shock absorbers are gone and should be replaced. It's its way to stiff then this could be because of the springs. If you were to take a shock off and compress it you would find it harder to push the futher down it went. With lowering springs the are in most cases shorter springs in which lowers the car by compressing the shock more than standard. If the springs have been made and tested right then this really should mean that the springs and shocks should work together well. I would maybe look at if it has poly bushs on it. They can stiffen it up to much. Springs and shocks help each other in there jobs at taking the impact of bumps from the road and smooth it out. I don't think you can stop a shock from working with a spring unless you put an spring in with a insanely high spring rate in. A 2009 Passo is a very different car! Didn't even know they were a thing! I hope this helps you
Hey wow srry didnt realise you replied.. they were initially bouncy until they settled and i used to have 13 inch rims which added to the bounce, now I have 15" and its not so much. I guess stiffer is the term, every bump or pothole is very loud and slams the car violently...its unpleasant and Maltese roads are terrible
I THINK our cars are very similar, all the things you said , suspension, brakes seem the same and even the sound I've upgraded mine too they were rubbish and now they actually sound excellent!
Regarding shocks... you have Bilsteins available?! Never shows up in an American search for the Echo or its sportier Scion-brand siblings the xA and xB. The xA is pretty much as close to the Yaris TS as we could get here (though, we only ever had the 1.5L). The xA had the seats, shorter gearing than our Echo (not that I mind 3,300rpm and 80mph as opposed to 4,100rpm at the same speed), and a stiffer rear beam. No rear disks, no lower (same springs and shocks as Echo, and same wheelbase). The xA also weighed over 200lbs more😶 Back to shocks, then: I have Eibach Sportline springs on my 2000 manual coupe (unique to our market), and Koni STR.T Orange shocks. Our 2003 automatic coupe also has the Koni's, and both cars suffered premature strut mount failure up front. I'm likely going KYB again, but wondering if you have the same GR2/Excel G branded shocks, or if there's another choice because of your market.
Some interesting knowledge xA and the xB! When I got my poly ARB drop link and D mounts I had to get xB ones from America! The Bilsteins I had on the rear were just a OEM replacement. I like the KYB which I had on the front more. I think they could have been the Excel G's. I got them off ebay. I know KYB was a good brand because a mate had them and when it was the Bilsteins I just wanted to try them out. In the uk there is a company called demon tweaks that are a all round track car part specialist. If you see something that you want but they don't stock it you can always send them a message and they can get in contact with the suppliers and see if they can get something ordering in. It's always worth a punt to see what's out there. Not sure what you equivalent is for you. If you want to have a wee browse on some uk websites I would recommend demon tweeks and fensport!
Good question. I've never seen a TTE spoiler in this colour but there could a PH1 SR kicking about the same colour. I just got it resparyed. Defos the other types in this colour though
Just got myself a 2000 Yaris recently, found this video because the sound system is absolutely abysmal. I was just wondering what speakers did you install into yours? Were they cheap Pioneer ones or something with a bit more oomf
I would look up diffrent types of speakers if you haven't already just so you know the pros and cons of them. Stuff like components speakers , 2 and 3 way. I have 3 way Pionneers in the doors and so long as you have a good headunit behind them they are great! Going from paper speakers to plastic cones allow them to send the sound futher. The headunit is key as for the standard one is just lacking the power to drive the speakers. They are not hard to install as well so it won't be long till you can blast your sound system bangers! I'm getting a feeling I should do a couple of videos on sound systems as a lot of people ask about them! There is a lot of videos on youtube about sound systems in cars but maybe something simplified
@@DriveShifty Aah yes, in face I installed a brand new headunit today (I say Brand new it was a used JVC for £30 on ebay) and it's made night and day difference, going to hold out on speakers for now but it's something I'm definitely going to do. @@storrho Aye haha. Best sorting the problem out and they you will only need to clean it once after. A lot of folk including me have sealed the rear light in with silicon. If the rear lights have been off they are often tighten to much and the seal then lets the water in
I would say that teins are good quality! My ones have lasted and are still going after 5 years. The ride is good. If you want something super stiff I would go for coilovers but for back road driving I would go lowering springs. Just got to keep an eye out for those super high speed bumps.
@@thatwasthedaythatwas There will be a lot of juggling about with rails. Cutting and welding. People put the celica mk7 seats in as well but there is a lot of work with rails on them as well. Yeah even just sticking new OEM stuff on makes a massive difference. Interesting point about the Anti-corrosion coatings. What brand do you prefer? I've always been on the fence when it comes to them. I believe they are great to use on a car that is new with no rust to begin with but they can also be bad at trapping in moister. For the radio You just have to remove the storage area. If you take everything off it's held in there with a few screws on the cage. There might be a few things that have got lost in translation there so I hope everything makes sense!
@@DriveShifty For an anti-corrosion coating: I use oil from a manual gearbox or oil for chainsaw chains and mix it with Paraffin Lamp Oil, then I brush off large pieces of rust - and apply the mixture from a sprayer (you can even use a manual one (as for spraying flowers or windows)). The mixture absorbs rust and preserves the car for 1-2 years (and after 1-2 years, you repeat it). It takes 1-2 hours and $25.

Gay mods, budget for 5k. Bigger throttle body with cold air intake done properly, headers(heat wrapped all that shit), catback exhaust all done with a tune. Get some weight out of that shit as well and maybe chuck some front and rear sway bars on it for increased stabilty. Everyone always ask me "What car should I buy that is reliable?". The awesome is always yaris!
Basically done everything you’ve mentioned to my 1.3
Poly bushed drop links
Tein springs
T sport seats
Exhaust
Speakers and headunit
Pads
T sport skirts
Diagnosed the old drop links when one snapped in halve mid corner 😂
Fitting my t sport bumpers once there painted as well
I would have hate to have seen the body roll when it did snap! I miss my old sportex exhaust :( It looked and sounded good but rusted far to quick xD
Should look good once it all together.

Aye good cars
ive got a mk2 yaris at the moment (im only 18 aha), This video was really helpful.
Awesome to hear! Yeah I'm always suprised to hear what other yaris's their are all over the world! Good luck with the car. It will be some good fun
GG your insurance my first year for a yairs 1.0 1.5k
3sgte ;)
1.3L + small turbo = beast.
Sounds like you are right there 😂
For your head unit the Kenwood will have a better built in amp.

@ that’s great! I need to do that to my Yaris but it’s just too fiddly.
mine used to stop with 1 click.. until i took it to a shop to get a wheel alignment done and when they parked it they ripped the e brake super tight and way up i had to use both hands to undo it, not it needs 3-4 clicks and still rolls a foot or so when i do. Dont let other people touch your ebrake. Probably stretched cable

Hey man, thanks for all the yaris vids, could you give some advice on removing the rear seats for the non mechanical drivers please ?
Wiggle it out the car without scratching stuff xD
I hope this helps. It is the same as flipping them but you need to remove the two bolts holding them in!

I've done it for a few of them and its a buggy mess. i have an 04 echo and i put 205/50r15 wheels and tires on it, some sticky rubber and a front strut tower brace and it corners like mad. it DOES have body roll so i will be looking for a better sway bar but it still sticks like crazy. Not sure if i want to get different springs tho

@@DriveShifty i splurged and got some EBC pads and rotors. just gotta do the back now!
@@joefries7046 Awesome!
One of the Echo owners even took a picture of the two beams side by side, and the Scion unit overall looks a little "beefier."
And of course, xA seats are basically Yaris TS seats, which is an easy swap (xB has a much taller frame and extra bolt, but the pads can be swapped to stock Echo frame).
It's always good to know why to change them
Just got given a 2000 1.0 yaris collecting it tonight will be a bit of a change but much more economical and looking forward to doing little bits to it
They are simple to work on so I really wouldn't be worried! Just make sure you wire brush the bolts. Enjoy it!
10-12% power gains from a remap. Doesn't sound like much but would be noticable
The mid range drivability is nicers as well. But a few of the yaris's ECU's are not remapable so you would have to go piggy back or standalone which is money!
@@DriveShifty yeah i have an 04 1.5 echo and noone will touch it, they say its not reprogrammable and would need a new ecu to get a custom tune
Good video. Thankyou!

How to know which springs and shock absorbers fit Toyota Yaris ?
I'm not sure what part of the world you are from but in the uk when have handy sites like eurocarparts where you can type in your reg and fit parts that fit. Ebaying "Toyota yaris 2005 springs and shocks" and comparing the pictures to your yaris is one of the most basic ways of doing things. And lastly you can always try asking the selling if they fit you car! Hope this helps

Where did you get the polyurethane drop link?
You can make them or get them from hyper-sport.co.uk/handling/yaris-poly-droplinks-d-bushings. When I bought them I had to get them shipped over from the US as they only did them for a Toyota BB
Fm transmitter is the word
Hey, where did you get the rims please? Can you drop a link?
Starlet SR wheels. You have to get them second hand
I prefer the comfortable standard ride.
Lowering springs can add more comfort if they are progressive springs!
Any online or eBay links where to get some rims etc for the TOYOTA YARIS GS VVT-I 1 litre?
Best to do some research into PCD's, offsets, widths and diameter to understand what you are looking for. Not really the case of typing Yaris aftermarket wheel if you know that I mean. If you search "wheel sizes explained" and "what is a PCD". This will give you a good insight into them
I have 2000 toyota yaris 1.0 but where i can find those tein springs?
I got my last set from Fensport
I find my 1.3 t spirit handles really well after wider wheels and tyres l, body roll doesn't seem an issue with mine but to be fair I have come from a lifted diesel truck 😂

Btw i reaaally do not regret the springs, cornering and drives so much improved
I THINK our cars are very similar, all the things you said , suspension, brakes seem the same and even the sound I've upgraded mine too they were rubbish and now they actually sound excellent!
@@jonathancauchi7 Good to hear man! Yeah less rubber cushion on the 15" wheels
Where can I get the mud flaps from
eBay, facebook or even try toyota for the OEM ones
Regarding shocks... you have Bilsteins available?! Never shows up in an American search for the Echo or its sportier Scion-brand siblings the xA and xB.
The xA is pretty much as close to the Yaris TS as we could get here (though, we only ever had the 1.5L). The xA had the seats, shorter gearing than our Echo (not that I mind 3,300rpm and 80mph as opposed to 4,100rpm at the same speed), and a stiffer rear beam. No rear disks, no lower (same springs and shocks as Echo, and same wheelbase). The xA also weighed over 200lbs more😶
Back to shocks, then: I have Eibach Sportline springs on my 2000 manual coupe (unique to our market), and Koni STR.T Orange shocks.

Can anyone recommend a set of seats for my 2005 1.3 VVT-I? Ideally with as little fettling as possible
T sport seats fit. Just need to cut a pin off the rails. Anything else is a bit of work
@@DriveShifty yes I’ve heard of that. I’ve also heard Subaru Impreza seats fit and might be a little more easily available??
@@thatwasthedaythatwas There will be a lot of juggling about with rails. Cutting and welding. People put the celica mk7 seats in as well but there is a lot of work with rails on them as well.
If you have the infinite money glitch them I would suggest getting some rails and a reclining bucket seat. If not t sport seats are about £120. Chop off the pin and bolt it in. Plus the airbags all work with the standard system
@@DriveShifty thanks. Do you know the best place to acquire tsport seats? Apart from the obvious eBay etc?
@@thatwasthedaythatwas Yaris club uk facebook group! Put a post in on that most of the time there is a pair going!
Good day. I want to change all of my shocks as you mentioned. Are you able to send me the exact part model etc I’d need ? Please.
Just search on ebay "Toyota Yaris (Your year) shock abosrbers". I'm not sure on the part numbers
I got a 2008 yaris for my first car a few monthes ago.
I did what you said and boy it rides better.
Do these apply to a 2008 Yaris too?
Hi there. I've never owned a MK2 before so I wouldn't know. It's not bad mods you should do to any cars to be fair!
The first thing you need to do to your Yaris is buy a Yaris. This is an Echo.
The Echo was sold in North America and Australia. In the UK this is a MK1 Yaris. They have the yaris badge and everything. Really at the end of the day the Echo, Yaris and Vitz are the same car just different badges. There may be other differences like wiring and parts but body wise they are the same
Ok fair enough. We're I come from the echo and Yaris are a different body same engine.
@@martinodea502 Yeah you're MK1 yairs is our MK2 yaris! I can mind this on MCM
I have a 2001 echo (Aus) and my daughter has the 2007 Yaris. Both 1.3
And they are fantastic little cars although I do like the feel and style of her car a little more.
@@martinodea502 I honesty haven't had anything to do with that yaris. When I bought my one 7 odd years ago they were a lot more expensive haha
dude are you able to get a set of those fog light covers, I will pay for them and shipping to the states
Right now I can't due to cornna as we are in lockdown. Have you checked ebay uk? Someone might want to ship them to you on there
Also join "YarisClubUK" on facebook as ask if anyone is parting out one
@@DriveShifty ah that's understandable, I'll try hitting up the Facebook group, from what I've been reading is that canadian echos have different fog light covers but from the pictures they look identical 😕
@@YungSteambuns I would have to look at them if I'm honest. When I googled it they had a complete different bumper but I have seen them with the the uk yaris style of bumper. See if someone can get the sizes of where the clips are as well
@@DriveShifty forsure, whenever you get the chance!
Show me the signal fuse at were
I do not understand what you mean
Is it posible to turbo the 68hp 2001 yaris;
You can turbo everything if you put your mind to it. I'm sure there is a turbo kit for the 1L's
What size alloys is it sitting on dude
195/50/15! So 15's
Thanks dude I'm going to lower mine but it's on 16s been looking at 30 mm drop
@@ashworthontrail2300 Just play with tyre size and they will fit!
@@DriveShifty sweet dude thanks for the reply
@@ashworthontrail2300 No problem!
стандартна підвіска працює відмінно, а найкращий мод - зробити антикорозійне покриття. п.с. магнітолу треба було вирізати акуратно і вставити туди Кенвуд, а так, ти втратив нішу для речей)
@@DriveShifty Regarding the radio: the old Toyota OEM is cut out, a blanking frame is inserted and - another radio is put in its place.
in this way, you have that small niche at the bottom "glove box".
@@emigrant4life I've heard of folk using old engine oil before but not that mixture! Quite the cocktail. I do believe oil is better for the underneath of cars as for waxoils or rubber coatings. Thanks for sharing that
@@emigrant4life I've always though about doing that but I know it would end up looking like a dog chewed it unless I spent hours with filler after it! I always think so the "Soundman Car Audio" ipad Dash kits! The more storage the better. You can get aftermarket double din fascia for the yaris
i thought that car is called the echo
It is in some place like Canada and Australia. But in the UK it's a yaris. Your first gen yaris is our second gen yaris
@@DriveShifty ya I’m from Canada
May I ask what your tire specs are?
195/50/15!
wanna know whats funny... my toyota yaris 1.0 vvt-i eats up much bigger cars with much more hp like they are toys... bmw e39 eats dust in start... my 65 hp car is destroying a bmw with 150 hp! ofc that he will beat me in long drive races, but first 500 meters are just for my little devil...
They weight nothing. Thats why you beat them off the line. It's the corners that the fwd helps!
Ya I drive with such confidence ! It's like a race car
@@DriveShifty for corners use wider rear wheels... with little practice short 90 degrees angles are childs play! Ofc front wheels need to be regular 165/65R14!! I prefer last tiers to be winter, when they heat up its much better grip believe it or not! the only minus is you rip them much faster than the summer tiers...
oh and yes now its not anymore 65 hp!! :D :D now its 1.4 vvti with 103 hp :D was doing some upgrades just for fun :D now when i drive in her its a little bit scary :/ hahahaha
@@caffycro7568 I know I'm like, a year late to the convo here, but what did you upgrade to get it from 1.0 to 1.4? Engine swap?
Sound system yea 🤣
you look just like the guy from twosync
Big forehead gang!
I thought this car was dead?
This is something I addressed in one of my older videos but I left out at. Long story short. It was mean't to be a joke as a lot of my friends and family say I will never get rid of the yaris xD But I found some bits on it that needed to get welded on it and it was about to run out of mot. So I went out and I bought an other car. A Celica 190. It was a lovely thing loved it but it had a lot of big problems with it. Plus the fact that it just passed and mot with no advisories I wasn't happy. I had the car for 2 days before I gave it back to them. I didn't have a car for two weeks whiched killed me. Ended up getting temp insured on my dads car. I finaly got the yaris back on the road with some helps of some good mates. My intentions with the yaris was to fix everything when it was off the road and make it better. I never got the time for that though haha. So that is why the yaris is still kicking about. I have went out and bought another car much to the discuss of everyone I know xD Not sure when I'm gonna make a video of that
I don't even have a Yaris lol
I'm sorry to hear about this
"lower the springs" ?.. you brits have nice roads dont you?
Nope all the roads are full of pot holes xD And I'm a scot ;)

Gay mods, budget for 5k. Bigger throttle body with cold air intake done properly, headers(heat wrapped all that shit), catback exhaust all done with a tune. Get some weight out of that shit as well and maybe chuck some front and rear sway bars on it for increased stabilty. Dont like the ride height, get another car dont know why youd want to make any car strictly road only. Always important to have some very minor offroad capabilities.
Na dude! Doing all that would make a Yaris way to fast man! It would be un-driveable! Speeding tickets through the door on the daily man!
Most of these aren’t mods
:(
