Gul Poli | Stuffed sweet Roti I Evening Snack

- Ingredients
Covering dough (flat bread)
1 cups wheat flour
2 tbs gram flour
2 tbs hot ghee
½ tsp salt
Water as required
Filling (stuffing)
2 cups roasted sesame seeds
2 cups roasted ground nuts
4 cups Jaggery
Nutmeg OR Elaichi
Method (flour dough)
Take wheat flour, mix 2 tbs gram flour, 2 tbs hot ghee
Mix the flours and ghee with spoon as the ghee is hot.
When the ghee cools down mix the ghee into the flour by hand for 2-3 mins
Add Salt, and water as required.
Knead the dough with your hands until it is smooth
Close and keep for 15 - 20 minutes
Method (stuffing mixture)
Roast the Sesame and Groundnut seeds separately in a pan.
Roast till its light brown in colour
Grind the sesame seeds fine and once done remove and keep aside
Grind the groundnuts and fine and once done remove and keep aside
Put the jaggery in a plate and place in a cooker to melt the same OR
You can grate the jaggery.
Mix all the stuffing ingredients and grate a little bit of Nutmeg for flavour.
Now knead the stuffing mixture to the same consistency as the flour dough.
Procedure to make the Gul Poli
Take small dough ball make a small round shape puri with your finger making a cavity OR
You can roll by a rolling pin.
Take it in your hand and take some stuffing mixture and fill the puri with it.
Close the puri by circular movement on your palm.
Press the dough ball filled with the stuffing against the rolling board with your fingers
Pressing will spread the stuffing evenly
Roll it with the rolling Pin with frequently turning the roti while rolling.
Place the Pan on the gas stove and adjust the flame from high to medium.
Turn it once you see the bubbles forming on top side.
Let it cook nicely on the other side as well.
Once it starts puffing up pour or apply ghee.
Once its well done on both sides remove in a plate.
Serve when its hot and eat when it is hot.
