Just a quick note. You can use the joystick to position the face/object after enabling tracking. No need to use the dynamic framing. You can use either the joystick or the arrows in the app to reframe.
Thanks for the video, yours is one of the first to talk about the tracking (Active track 6.0) that I've seen on TH-cam so far. I've been using the pocket 3 myself for over a month now to shoot fitness, dance and martial art videos that involve moment, some time rapid movement in multiple planes, the Active track fails every time. Ive also searched through the DJI forums and found this issue goes back at least 2 yrs ( Pocket 2 etc) ... still no solution, apart from not using the tracking. The tracking also is a hit or miss with people of dark skin especial if you fall into the category mentioned above... Dancer etc. Another example would be if you tried to track a boxer doing shadow boxing, the raised hands to guard the face and the side to side quick movements totally confuses the tracking Al. These are problems with facial tracking and DJI to date have not talked about this. Until the Active tracking can do proper full object tracking, I dont see this being resolved.
Thanks for this video! What was helpful for me was dynamic framing, if you are filming a dance video you want to film your whole body rather than cut your legs off, so positioning the face at the top of the frame like your cooking video did the trick. This seems to be the next best thing to tracking a whole body rather than the face. I'd also find it helpful for the option of tilt locked mode during face tracking, mine seems to stick to follow. It would result in less field of view but I prefer the look of a horizontal pan only in some cases.
I think the camera is locked in follow mode whenever tracking is enabled, but that would be an interesting additional feature. Check out also my update video on this topic - it might give you a little more flexibility. th-cam.com/video/nGnfMc_3ncg/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video. Have you tried to track a near subject to simulate a crane shot, for example, tracking a stop sign from high to low using a monopod with either FPV or pan&follow mode? If this is possible, please let me know. thank you so much.
That's going to be challenging, with other players (also with the same uniform) entering the frame. Maybe try tracking a face, but with fast movement, it's going to be difficult.
Basically, do NOT use the auto face detection. Instead, mark the object you want to track (double-tap on the camera screen, or draw a box around it using the app). The object can be anything - not just a face.
@@ttl_channel Thanks for your answer, I think I understand how it works now ! In fact, to follow me when I climb, I need to drow a box with the app on my entire body. The tracking follow my face first, automatically (although the tracking face is not activated), then when I hide my face for example with my arm during climbing, the tracking chose my upper body
Yes absolutely. Use manual tracking to select which person to track and the P3 usually does a good job of staying on that person. If you and the other person cross paths or get very close, there is a chance that tracking might switch to the other person so try to avoid as much as possible and/or keep the app open so you can fix as needed
Pocket 3 is just too fragile/precious and for that reason alone, I’ll take even the Action 4 over it. It isn’t about the camera anyway. Some of the best things I’ve seen have been shot on what most here would consider not a “real” camera. I don’t care what you shoot on. Just make a good video.
Very useful informations from you for Pocket 3
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.

Thanks - I did find that one also. Even posted an update: th-cam.com/video/nGnfMc_3ncg/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic detail on all the tracking nuances. Thanks.👍

Thanks for the input - let's hope that DJI can improve the tracking to deal with situations like these also.
Thanks👍 ,, Merry Christmas from Holland
Merry Christmas and thanks for watching.
Thank you for the detailed explanations! Merry Christmas from Vienna 🎄

Great work - superbe information! Even owning the Pocket 1 -2 and 3 I did learn! Grazie! Thank you and a wonderful photo - and videorich 2024!
Many thanks!

I have not, but will try to check it out.

In covering basketball game what should be the target of the tracking?

Hi! Thanks for tour vidéo ! I want to track a climber , sometimes we see his face, sometimes his face is hide, How to optimize the tracking please ?

Can I use tracking while filming an instructional video with a partner in frame?

great video - the transitions you use are quite jarring. My 2 cents. But great video.
Appreciate the feedback - thanks for watching
