I purchased similar lighting for my garage from Amazon, same clip types ( so probably the same lights even). They clipped in easy, but are a pain in the ass to take out. I made a mistake and had to redo one of the clips and had to bend the clip out on both sides with pliers to get the light out. When I plugged a light in to test how bright they were, it didn't seem very bright, but I installed 6 x 48" lights in total, and it is brighter than daylight in my garage. They are cheap and a great solution. I only wish my garage looked like yours with the race car in it! Thanks for the great content again!
I have watched all but one of your videos. This was not one I was very interested in, but thought I would watch, as I have liked the others. I was really good! Thank You! The ending got me giggling to myself a lot :D
To diffuse / dim the light on your face, consider a scrim (fabric in a frame) on a friction arm that is mounted to the ceiling, or to a c-stand. Easy to reposition, and available in various light reduction amounts, .25 to 2.5 stops.
@@Humbulla93 Photographers more commonly use bounces, which do not allow light to pass through, but instead reflect it. Though they have a similar appearance to a scrim.
Electrician tip here, assemble on the ground, clips on, square it up on the ground from the walls. I love your series. have you epoxy painted the floor of the garage? You'd be amazed how much light it adds, specially when working under the car. ETA: Also, Epoxy floors clean easily and don't stain.

I've seen lights down around a meter off the ground on the sides of paint booths for giving a nice side light. Something like that would help fill the shadows on your face and also get some light in to some of the places the over head lights miss. BTW, I'm assuming you have them in Australia, but the thing I thought would be helpful is a drywall lift. I used one to put up the ceilingin my shop and I expect you could have put a piece of wood on the lift and then gotten much of your lightin up in one piece. Only licensed electricians should be wiring up 240, legally speaking. The earths can't be cut and left un-terminated like that. Those lights catch fire, your house insurance is void. You've got enough power for a small heater, as you say, running through many aliexpress push in connectors all over your roof... You've seriously got to start being careful - you are making unsafe decisions regularly.
Where is that illegal? I wired an entire building, three sub panels, a main/meter combo, buried lines, presented my work to the inspector and passed without question and I’m not licensed.
@@TTRacingYT Not required, sure. But I love the turn-on effects - imagine the video if the lights above the racecar would light up first over the rear spoiler, then "flowing" towards the front with 20% brightness and once they reach the front go to 100% in the middle and then flow outside towards the tires. This would never get old for me - would go "to check something" in the garage like 3 times per day :)
they are awful for working with. The reflection is terrible with the shape left, the installation is time consuming and over complicated. Regular LED fittings with diffusers would be able to give as good or better light levels, leave no refection and a lot easier to install. As an electrician into detailing I find the hexagon lights a terrible product
DO NOT EVER BUY THESE PARTICULAR HEX STYLE LUMINARIES OR ANY OTHERS THAT LOOK SIMILAR First of let's just address your comment in the description about these being 800 watts. 800 watts for approximately 84 linear feet of high density led strip lights should be WAY more than enough of a red flag for you to laugh historically and then keep shopping around. My shop hours are 8AM to 8PM and with the commercial kwh rate PG&E charges us in California that puts the monthly energy costs at $184.10. So just look into your electricity cost per kwh and daily usage so you have an understanding of what a new lighting solution is really costing you because I promise you these are not only 5 times higher consumption per foot than an average led strip. Not only that but if you buy a light design that actually has an effective design and one that has the specs that your workspace requires to accomplish your lux goal at the work surface, you'll needing a much less dense smd per square meter of area. Well if that's not enough of a deterrent I go on with red flags 2 through 48 really quickly... Despite what it may say on some of these shady Chinese distributor pages these things ARE NOT UL Listed or CE or ETL or CSA approved or rated by a million miles. Just because I claim that in an Amazon advertisement doesn't mean the product is going have those designations on it or its power supply when you open the box. So no matter what these are illegal to use in the US and several European countries. Even if for arguments sake nobody cared how terribly thought out the safety was of the electrical products we work and sleep under you still couldn't use this in most municipalities because they aren't 10%-100% dimmable as is required by 2024 environmental standards seen in code pertaining to lighting replacement (Title 24 in California but check with your local government for your requirements). So far everything I've said is 100% fact. Here's my opinion: There are so many different things they crossed an ethical line doing in the design of the product just to keep the manufacturing cost to as cheap as possible for the thing to just barley turn on and be bright enough to wow you for a few days. Today's SMD LEDs last anywhere from 25,000 to 60,000 hours with the new smd 2538 which could translate to decades of life. I would seriously be surprised if these things make it a year. The one I took apart and looked at off of Amazon had no heat sink on an already overly dense diode count strip. The particular LED diode was not designed nor recommended on the cut sheet to be driven with AC power. So you have mains voltage up to 240 volts being reduced down to the 40 or so volts you have to stay under just so the LEDS don't instantly burn out when you flip the switch with the cheapest method possible... big ass resistors at the top of each section. All of this is running through wires 6 sizes smaller than the ones coming out of the wall of your house. The boards are in no way insulated or protected from water/dust regardless of the false sense of security wording on their website says, "IP54 Waterprooft/suitable for wet locations". There is no cross circuit protection so if the surface gets just moist enough it will short and be instantly toast. If someone touches the surface of the pcb once it's been hooked up it's lights out for them and your fancy fixture. When you get suied for knowingly installing a Final Destination movie in your shop because you got a good deal a jury of average rational people will mutually consider it GROSS NEGLIGENCE on your part which is NOT considered an accident anywhere on the planet liability insurance is sold. Even if you don't live in a place that puts you in jail for this you definitely don't have enough insurance coverage to cover the amount of punitive damages the judge is going to pass out to 1 or more claimants so you're for sure going to lose asset you have that's not being kept in a qualified retirement account. It's probably not be a good deal under any circumstances you might have in your garage and budget.
@@TTRacingYT fair enough, that was cynical, youre not selling. i was really looking forward to some more tech deep dives or finally driving, but then: shop lighting. thats why i wrote it like this

It's probably not be a good deal under any circumstances you might have in your garage and budget.
sooo, you buy a race car and use it to sell/advertise aliexpress lights for "content"? c'mon man
How am I selling anything? Not even an affiliate link. How do you navigate life being so cynical?
@@TTRacingYT fair enough, that was cynical, youre not selling. i was really looking forward to some more tech deep dives or finally driving, but then: shop lighting. thats why i wrote it like this
As I said at the start. There's nothing I can do on the car until the fuel cell comes. Then I can fab straps for that and the new harness bushes, followed by pouring the seat and servicing. Then finally the first drive.
