    I use Estée Lauder skincare. It is fantastic! Their night repair products are amazing. I am 66 and people routinely think I am at least 10 yrs younger! Mt daughter in law has switched from Lancome and the difference in 4 weeks is astounding! I so love their holiday deals. The bag this year is so pretty. Super deal!

    I bought a half price Lancome concealer during 21 days of beauty and loved it so much I felll down a Lancome rabbit hole. All this to say that I got the Lancome version of this set, and I'm really happy with it so far. Their creme lipsticks are lovely.

      I'll be reviewing the Lancome set when it arrives. I was really excited about it too. I'm glad you're enjoying the Lancome products, I feel that Lancome makes excellent mascaras, foundations and concealers. I prefer the Lancome bi-facil over the gentle eye makeup remover from Estee Lauder. Thanks for watching today!

    I bought the Lancome Holiday box last year, but I also wanted the Estee box. This year it seems that Estée Lauder resonates with me more, it looks so pretty and I have wanted to try their skin care products.

      I've always like both brands for skincare. I don't have sensitive skin, and almost anything works for me. When I get both holiday boxes (like this year) I use all the skincare, and I really like it. Not enough to pay the $85 for one item, but in a set like this, it's worth it. Thanks for watching.

    I got this lovely box from my sweet son on my birthday last month. I got the cool set. I find the eyeshadows to be easy to apply with no fallout. They last all day over primer or concealer on my lids- I apply with my finger tips. I’ve purchased their quad eyeshadow set, the regular one not in a gift with purchase, and I find these shadows to be as good if not better than the regular quad. Maybe you got a bad batch?? I’m glad they gave us larger portions of the shadows this year. Thanks

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Huh, that's interesting. Compared to many other brands I've tried, these didn't perform well in my opinion. It's just my opinion. 🤷‍♀️
      I'm glad you found these too be extremely long wearing and easy to apply. It sounds like you're enjoying the gift set. That's wonderful. I've been loving the new cleanser and the rest of the skin care. My oldest is head over heels for the mascara and makeup remover. The lip products have been in regular rotation, and it's just the eyeshadows that haven't been my favorite. That's ok, I still think the set is worth it. Especially if you're an Estee Lauder skincare user.

      I used last years bag and this years bag for travel. I normally have to put smaller bags inside because these bags are just so large. I will get a bag makeup for brushes, another one for medications, another bag for makeup, and then I can toss the skincare I need in all the corners. My hairbrush and the rest of my toiletries don't fit in a bag this size, but if you travel with less than I do, it might work. When I'm not traveling, I store the rest of my smaller makeup bags in this large velvet one.

    After purchasing the Lancome holiday beauty box, and watching your video review of it, I found myself watching this Estée Lauder video. I think I made the right choice for myself going with the Lancome box. I do have one unrelated question. It seems everyone is using cleansing balms . Which one do you use?? Many thanks.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm currently using the EL Skincare and the Lancome makeup. : ) I'll get around to using the Lancome Skincare too, but I have so much right now. I know the eyeshadow palette from the EL blockbuster isn't one I'll reach for again, and the glosses have gotten lost in my collection. The Lancome makeup is actually getting used, and most of the EL makeup isn't.
      As for balm cleanser, I use whichever one is least expensive. Here's my theory: it's on my face for less than 60 seconds, and it washes right down the drain. I then use a second cleanse to get all the residual makeup and cleanser off my face. That's why I get what's the least expensive.
      I usually purchase balms when they're on sale. Sometimes I can get a 2 pack of the Clinique Take the Day Off at 20% off. (it's already a reduced price in the 2 pack and then I get an additional 20% off) I've recently been getting the Banila Co. Clean It Zero in the large tub during the Ulta 21 days of beauty when they're 40% off. The larger size is a better price per ounce than the smaller size. I really love the formula of the Heimish All Clean Balm.
      One thing I've noticed is that the drugstore balm cleansers aren't always a good price when you're doing the math based on price per ounce. The initial price is less, but they're usually less product in the container. I've tried the really expensive ones from Elemis, and it's not a better cleanser even though it's $68. Check the price per ounce for whichever one you're interested in, and try and pick them up on sale when you can. That's my best advice. Thanks for asking, I'm always happy to answer any questions you have.

      I normally don't spend department store prices on skincare anymore. I used to, but then I discovered Korean skincare that's so much more affordable. I'm also a huge Good Molecules/inky list/ the ordinary/ beauty pie fan. It's easier to get effective skincare at non luxury prices now, than it was decades ago.
      I like the skincare, but I think it's certainly over priced except when you get it in a set like this. These types of sets make so much sense if you're already using the brand for skincare. Thanks for watching today.

      @thelipstickgal hi, yes I am on my 2nd bottle (100ml+) now and still have the 30ml bottle to use. Cosmetically elegance and feels great on the skin, feels hydrated. I cannot say I feel a big difference in the anti aging effect. To be fairI started my anti aging skin care since I was in my teens so no significant effect can be observed. Although I don't have any wrinkles and look younger than my age in my 30s now.
      Like you, I dont pay department store prices. I only buy when they have a very big sale. For example, I got the Brown bottles when they had a sale, coupled with cash back programme, I got them for 45% off retail price. Similarly woth Lancome, I got 40% off by stacking discounts and offers, as well as getting travel sized gifts.
      I am planning to move on to prescription retinol, after preparing my skin for over the counter retinol for a few months now. Moving to retinol and eventually tretinoin will drastically reduce my needs for skin care, although I'll still buy some.
      This Black Friday sale, Ive placed 3x Elemis orders for myself and as gifts, as they have a huge sale, and I stacked new subscribers (20%) with cash back (5%), on top of the sale prices, so for the biggest value order:I got 2 discounted gift sets (40% off, came to aud 334), along with 6 complementary gift sets (total value close to aud 1000 - using codes and their automatic offers), and 5% cash back on the entire order value of aud334 (3rd party). Not bad.

    I enjoyed watching this. Even I know this set is not for me anyway. Because of the added fragrance in the skincare. But if you are a person with no sensitivity to fragrance than it is a good deal after all. And that bag looks gorgeous. I have 2 estee lauder lipsticks that I have to juse more. Even they contain added fragrance as well, I like the formula that I took the risk. ( they have not irritated my skin so far,...) If I can go for a uncented lipstick from a brand that is fragrance free I am more willing to pay extra. ( I own some lippies with added fragrance when i think about it; Mac,Bobby Brown,estee lauder, Hindash and Dries van noten,... but I love that LisaEldridge and Victoria Beckham are brands that are fragrance free.)

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I wish more brands would no add fragrance to skincare and makeup. I miss the days of when a lipstick smelled like a lipstick. I don't know when lipsticks started getting added fragrance, but I recall it only being something that I could find in drugstore lip glosses or lip balms when I was a kid in the early 80s. The rest of the makeup I recall from the 80s didn't have any added fragrance. It would be a good move to head back in that direction. Sadly I feel like skincare is something that has had added fragrance since I can remember. I'm not sure why. Maybe the brands are trying to make the skincare more appealing?

I think they use great ingredients but the fragrance is terrible for my skin. I’ve tried nearly everything and the only thing that doesn’t leave me itchy & rashy is the advanced night repair serum. I bought a Blockbuster pack last year after watching your review. In Europe you don't need to purchase anything to be able to get it, i even received a gift (a cute pouch, mini-serum, lipstick, makeup remover foam and a face cream miniature) with the order, so it was a great deal!
    I agree that their eyeshadows are lacking in everything if you tried the quality of indie brands. I HATED the lip gloss. However, all other products I properly enjoy. I even learned how to make that mascara work for me!
    This year I am going to skip buying it to get myself an advent calendar from a polish Indie brand GlamShop. Plus, there's a bit too much skin care for my liking.
