Every big free agent deal comes with risk, so kudos to the Rangers for not being scared to take said risk. If it works out it will be a franchise changing pickup.

Ive been with the Mets my whole life. After David Wright retired, he remained my number 1 but I looked up to deGrom. I told all by family and friends I thought he was going to the Rangers, but man, the Mets were such a great club for him. He was the excitement the club needed to keep them going.
Then blame your new owner who wants to buy a ws and let him walk. I'm sure he told him with no taxes in Texas (state) and insane taxes in NY what the price would be and your owner said nope.

It feels like this team is trending up very gradually. Prospect system is pretty stacked and they’ve built up the lineup with semien and seager, not to mention they’ve gotten rid of the people in the front office that held this team back. They may not do something this year but these are moves you make if you wanna make some progress

As a Rangers season ticket holder, I’m pumped. The injury risk is there yes. But to see our front office spend money is great to see. Top 5 farm system and he can help our young arms out. Salute to you Marc for being real and happy for him even though he’s leaving.

I'm a HUGE Met's fan and I'm NOT that disappointed. Mostly because he missed soooooo many games. Availability is the most important ability and he just was NOT available enough. He's getting older and will be even more susceptible to injury. Good Luck Jacob!

Honestly, Mets fans should be happy. The guy has been injured for more than half of his career. The Mets now have an opportunity to hold a rotation with Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and a third more reliable pitcher who will give you a whole season. Maybe a call-up, maybe Rodon

I am a HUGE braves fan but I honestly actually think this is good for the Mets because
1. He's outside the division
2. Yes he's a great pitcher with huge upside but if the arguably best pitcher in the league doesn't pitch much because of injuries then it doesn't matter about his talent just like Stephen Strasburg
3. This leaves the Mets a good amount of money to sign an all-star free agent and possibly try to ink a blockbuster trade during the off-season
Not a terrible loss at all and I definitely wouldn't be too disappointed if I were a Mets fan
Unpopular opinion: Mets made the right move not offering this type of deal. Degrom is the best starter if healthy, but health is the big problem and I will be surprised if he makes 30 starts in a season in any of the years of his deal.
If the Mets get someone like a Rodon or Verlander, they will have made the right move.
The Rangers need more than Degrom to compete in that division cause the rotation is pretty mid even with him.

I don’t see how you can say deGrom is clearly is the best pitcher available when Verlander is coming off the season he just had with more playoff experience and less injury risk. Like I get he’s been dominant when he plays, but availability matters, and it’s not like Verlander wasn’t dominant. The difference between the two isn’t enough for the injury risk IMO
