    One thing folks might not realize is that run has to be done with neutral direction, so you can't hold crouch when you cr.hp xx run

      You can actually hit forward with it, I’ll hit forward for the start of my DP input to get it faster in combos.

    Ken’s run is awesome, you can use it in launch combos as a poor-mans drive rush, without spending any gauge

      Somewhat related, I swear Drive Rush comes from Ken's VT1 in SFV, "Heat Rush". Very similar

    Your videos are great and informative, I was having problems with the stop run then into chin buster. Didn't think of punish counter scenario. Been using my dummy as a normal neutral hit

      Interestingly I've found combo routes that are the same damage that don't require CR HP. I need to figure out why people aren't using them as they are so much easier.

      Yeah I think that's why we're all learning it.
      What I've found is, after some DR's you can go into Stand HP for a combo, DR Stand HP combos directly into Chin Buster.
      Stand and CR HP do the same damage

      @@RushG i think the value of the cr.hp routes is more corner carry. but definitely the stand hp combos are way easier and just as optimal situationally
      unless i'm wrong, i was testing it yesterday morning so might be misremembering lol

      So what I figured out yday, if you do Stand HP after Punish Counter or DR, it links into CR MP which does more damage than Stand MP alone. If you DR off CR MP rather than Stand MP it means more damage overall. I'm using a lot of Stand HP, CR MP in those situations.
      Arguably, you can do CR HP > Run > Run Stop > CR MP but the window is tight. It's so easy to mess up

    Love using the step kick to confirm supers. Surprisingly good burst option to close out rounds.

    I really wish run stop was just pressing back. It feels very clunky with a button press, and yes, I have mapped it to a single button. It's the stopped-into-target combo that's a learning curve.

    What game controller do you use? I was thinking of getting a new one since my cheap $20 Xbox controller was actually starting to make my left thumb a bit sore on the top. I feel like I have to really push the dpad down to get the correct inputs. I've been looking at a lot of hori commander controllers but have no idea which one to choose.

      I use either a Hori Fighting Commander or Betop C3 fightpad
      I've always been a stick player

    Hello @Rush G you got any tips and advice for execution timing on the chin buster to run into heated tatsu for that mid-screen corner carry. The tatsu having a hard time to come out using an lever arcade stick. I am now contemplating purchasing the same controller you got if it makes it better?

      The most simple way to do this is map a single button if you can as 3K. This will give you the run at a single press.
      The input will then look like this:
      MP > HP > 3K > QCB + K
      You could even use the 3K button to get the heated Tatsu after the QCB, might make it easier because you used 3K for run prior to the Tatsu input.
      Regarding controller it's all down to personal preference. The pad won't make it easier, the muscle memory is what makes things easier, over time

    I just really didn't want to map a Run button. Going with out it and trying the combos is making me faster and faster by the day.
    But it's obvious how much easier it is with a dedicated button. . . .
    I guess I'll continue to do it the old fashion way, and whenever I feel the need I can just add the damn button.

      I tried doing it with L2 as run and now I find r2/x on ps5 controller the easiest way don't even use the run button I set up

      I'm on stick and have drive rush and parry already mapped :( it's a struggle but im slowly getting it down hardest part is canceling mid combo and doing light links

      There's 8 buttons total so I'm using the stand 6 buttons and the additional 2 for 3P and 3K

    I can crouch mk into dr into chin buster. I can crouch hp into run/runstop into chin buster. But i cant combo the 2 yet. Been playing 15 hours of ken so far. Slow learner now that im older.

    Im having trouble seeing the point of this route. The optimal damage from st hp, drush is st mp, cr hp, run dp. And its easier to do. I feel like im missing something. Another route that comes close to optimal is st hk, chin buster, run dp. While st hk is good range, its -3 ob after drush. Cr hp is -6 ob after drush. The clear winner to me after a drush when you confirm the hit is st mp. If they block, u can still do st mp, or st hp for more range and its still plus on block. Otherwise you can go for a drush tickthrow, drush tick shimmy, or cr lk for a low if you see they are standing. Again let me know what im missing. Idk why capcom would give ken these drush routes with run cancels and not make them optimal.
    The cr hp run cancel is still great as a punish. It has more range than st mp, and cr hp pc, run cancel, chinbuster, run dp is 20 more damage than st mp pc, cr hp, run dp. But in this case, st mp still has a use as a close range, 5 frame punish. Drush makes range irrelevant (at least thats what it seems at first impression). Lmk how im crazy. Ive seen different ken pros doing different drush routes, if i find out what im missing, ill come back to this comment. Maybe its just swag

      @@RushG glad to see im not crazy. the thing that i dont get is the st hk one. having st hk go into chin buster looks really cool, but again, i dont see the use of it over st mp, cr hp from drush. and outside of drush, st hk pc as you know gives the air spin, similar to sfv crush counter. maybe the scaling works better with these routes if you go into supers?

      @@RushG another thing, it seems drush, st mp, cr hp, ltatsu, mdp is more damage than run dp. but again, the super scaling on lvl 3 super is better with run dp, as u get the full animation and like 400 more damage. even with od tatsu after the super3, the ltatsu, mdp route was less damage with super. but the best route for lvl 3 super is st hk, chin buster. its like 100 more than st mp, cr hp, run dp, lvl 3. it doesnt seem like it should work, since st hk, chin buster, run dp is one more hit, but there it is. when you are going for them supers, go st hk.
      and cr hp run cancel is seemingly a situational punish at best.

      something else. so the run stop combo after a drive rush is maybe the most optimal side switch route. you cant dragon lashkick from st mp, cr hp. since the run stop leads to chin buster, thats the best way to side switch.
      and i figured it out. the whole reason we were confused i think, is cuz we had the route wrong.
      the optimal 3 drive bar route, is: st hp pc, cr mp (cr mk from far), drush, cr hp, run stop, cr mp, ltatsu, mdp
      the optimal super route would be: drush, st mp, cr hp, run dp, super3
      post drush st hk route is only a better super route than post drush st mp, when you start the combo with st hp-drush (no crouching mids)

      I train it daily and I've got a lot better at it. The key is the timing of the run stop. Too early it doesn't come out

      In SFV it does, but yes you are actually right regarding SF6. Scaling works differently in this game compared to older titles

    For some reason I can’t get kens dash cancel right I don’t know if it’s the timing or iuno… i play on console and with a controller… I can’t connect the heavy cr punch into the the quick step into the medium punch everytime I hit the heavy punch into the quick step and cancel into the heavy cr punch it gets blocked

      The sequence should be:
      CR HP > 3P (run), LK (run stop), Stand MP > HP.
      You need to press LK to stop the run early before doing MP

      For the run stop combos it only seems to work from CR HP when done from counter hit / punish counter / Drive Rush

      @@RushG Thanks for the quick info. I'm trying since 1 hour in training modus. I set the pc to "Block after first hit" but it seems like after the stop I can't connect to a medium punch after it as the pc starts blocking. That means I'm doing something wrong right?

      You need to set your attack counter state to "Punish Counter" from the menu also
      Without this it won't combo
      Timing on the run stop needs to be immediate, if you run stop late the Stand MP doesn't connect. It is tricky at first

      I use 3K for my OD kick moves, EX moved in older games. So it helps with these moves and helps with run. It's really good IMO to have it set this way

      Pad is a good choice for quick inputs compared to stick. That said I do strongly believe it's more important how many hours you have on your chosen pad. The experience is what matters. So choice what you feel is more comfortable for you to start with

    Can you tell me please why they made this so hard as if button Combinations weren't hard enough now you've to stop the run the you have to ask Carol vorderman in your head to do the mathematics on what's go a do damage and that's one combo, mate to be honest I think life's to short for this. Bought the game last week getting rid this week there my maths thanks for all your hard and informative vids but as I'm said I'm done...
