I have an idea: since Ubisoft Bordeaux has proven they know what fans of old school assassins creed want, let them make more AC games in that style, and let the other studios handle the other styles. They’d all have to communicate with each other to keep the modern day plot going, of course

Ok this is the simple best AC themed content possible on the internet, Altair Stealth and Leo K talking AC for almost an hour! Thank God for this. First of all obviously I am an AC fanboy since AC1 and for the same reasons I share most of your feelings on all the topics discussed obviously, Now I am midway whatching and started to write down some topics that came to my mind and would ask you too on your take: - in modern day, the narrative and how they do it is not the same since AC1 , and AC3 I agre, but what they came up with by the end of the RPG trilogy era, honestly I loved the idea, Igdrasyl being Isu , and Basim returning to modern day, as protagonist, basically it made a perfect excape route to a new blank canvas as you also put with great potential, let's hope it will be taken in the right direction - What would you like to see modern day story culminate in, return of the ISU and modern day assassins/ templars fight with them, for them to ally with them, or to stop them...? - what I really liked in regarding fav characters, Altair, Basim, Bayek, I consider Ezio as well, wait for it, as you put it, not only skilled badass assassins, but wise in their own rights, So this idea explained to myself why I am drawn to a full assassin arc in each story: it is that I want to see my character become a master, net because they killed enough targets, or did big damage to the current templar order, but because they have the years, the experience the wisdom... that is what is drawing my full attention to a really well rounded character. AC revelations is sooo good because it emerges 2 masters as characters, showing us the life path of Altair, ( pro move ) and opens Ezio's mind gives him the wisdom not to take another piece of eden... was a perfect moment for me, also it helped Desomond to finish off his story in a prefect way the next game - to make the right decision. - AC red 2 protagonist news, made me wonder how cool would it be if not only recruits would come in but someday a coop campaign , that would be a dream! let me know if you agree :) - as for the setting conversation : I want soo badly to witness the moment when the hidden ones were renamed to assassins - which would mean staying in the middle East , but as historical importance in the brotherhood history would be awesome, and also I would love to see the a more modern world AC game without it taking the series to Mafia or GTA games clones...but it may be hard to do. - finally you mentionned playing a good game is what makes it good no matter the set up the type - did you try the VR game AC Nexus, any thoughts? - I 100% agree with you may the AC universe last long to see what 1000 years of AC looks like! As someone who grew up playing AC I really had to take a step back and truly listen to what these two said. Seeing the newer games like Origins and Valhalla really turned me away from the series for a while. I was so used to the old formula, but hearing them say that AC isn’t just a genre of stealth but a universe just completely opened my mind. I never would have thought like this before so I’m just stunned that I was so close-minded about it as someone who truly loves and wants the best from this franchise. I’m glad I got to watch this interview and just open up possibilities, thank you both for you’re prospectives.
For context, I bought the AC summer bundle, so I get to play through all the games in release order back to back (or at least a few weeks apart due to classes). I finished AC3 a couple of days ago, and have been running around Havana gathering collectibles in 4. Black Flag feels like AC1 in building design/parkour flow/player-guard interactions, and honestly reminded me what stealth *can be*, especially in terms of "target-only casualties". I resonated a lot with what you both had to say. It's tangible even as a relatively new AC fan who's only played a few titles. Revelations got close with Eagle Vision showing guard paths, so I tried to play low-casualties, but late-game was pretty much just ignoring guards as I ran across the city. I ended up reverting to AC2/Brotherhood, where I just kill rooftop guards to not have to deal with them. I probably killed the least amount of enemies in 3 solely because of the "health" mechanic that got rid of one-hit counter kills (very glad that's gone in 4). I adore 1, and even without experiencing the naval mechanics past the tutorial, I understand how my partner loves 4 (at the time of this comment, he's never played 1).

Never understood the "AC needed to evolve" point, since they dont actually evolve at all. They get rid of everything instead of actually improving on its core elements. I believe they've done this all the way back in AC1
Ubisoft makes the skeleton of any mechanic really good and then abandons it in the next game, I understand the leap between ac syndicate to ac origin but I dont understand the removal of freedom we had in the first 4 ac games (in parkour ofc)
wow, I would have never guessed that someone is going to make an interview with Leo and that is going to be you. thanks for recording such an interesting discussion between you two! every other second I was humming to myself «yep, you totally get it boys, you're so right», it's so exciting to hear someone express similar to mine thoughts and ideas, while also undestanding how my perspective as someone who played assassin's creed for the first time in 2020 is so different from yours perspective, but is kind of similar at the same time. thank you so much for this video, it was a real christmas time treat for me!
Man that part about ac1 and what makes it great brought a tear to my eye. I'm glad there are more people who understand what made it great. Especially the horror aspect. As someone who came from a religious household, the amount of sacrilege in it, and the way it capitalized on conspiracy theories at the time, was refreshing and a scary "what if?" scenario. AC also fount like an AR-game. In that it coincided with the time and events of our waking life. Even 3 had to be released before 2012 due to the conspiracy theory of the end of the world happening there, for better or worse. It was also an ARg because just like how Desmond enters the animus, we use our respective console to play ac, and immerse ourselves into this weird, parallel world and intake the experiences ourselves. I also loved that bit about how Desmond is trapped irl, but feels free in the animus, yet, in the animus, we are also controlled. That's how I feel about real life. I am only alive when I play games. And those who came before? Ooh boy, scary things for a believer of a god.
The interview was great- questions were thoughtful and all, but Gawd dang those Origins highlights were hella neat. Back ejecting into hay? Assassination through fence?? Thoroughly impressed.
If the two of you start an AC podcast i would listen to that every single episode. And i love how the two of you stop care about genre of AC game, as long as AC got the AC elements, got the Creed, it will be a good AC game. When they announced AC Hexe will be a different AC game I have been secretly hoping that it would be a AC horror game with the right amount of mythologies and witches. I just hope more future AC games is made by the AC fans in unbisoft like Mirage
I love you two, like you understand so perfectly what is good and what is wrong with the franchise, you don't fall into stupid critics or even in your own likes and dislikes. For the Souls like idea, hard agree. There's so much missinformation (in no small part thanks to TH-camr that do a poor job showing these games) and people still think you only need OP weapons or builds, when anything can and will be viable and strong. I'll support that idea! Goes without saying that this was a phenomenal interview. Glad to hear the Master Altair speaks, hope to see more of these videos.
It was around 2015 when i came across Unity and fell in love with it immediately and watched through the whole playthrough of it because i couldn't afford it nor do i have the specs to play it. years later, i finally got to play Unity while already forgetting everything about the story (kinda thankful for that lol) and you two (and Master Assasins) have been a huge influence to my playstyle.
Nice job. I agree with your statement upon refining and reiterating. Especially nowadays when Ubisoft is obviously following two directions with the more classic AC (like Mirage) and the RPG AC (like Origins) it would be great if they focus in one of this directions on parkour and stealth. Maybe even with different difficulties. One thing I'm interested in and you sadly didn't cover, is your opinion on an AC multiplayer/coop game. I believe it could be fun to get such a game. Maybe located in the Future with the possibility to go to an Animus and play one of the known Assassin's.
So I will say this, I love Unity, even though its a buggy mess sometimes. I love unity for the fact of, it had a great story, being able to pick and use different robes is amazing, and than my MAJOR thing about it is the animations, from the climbing/parkour, to the finishers and assassinations. I loved unity because of that. But another reason was because of the game before it...Rogue, Shay's story being tied in with Arno's is just amazing. I loved those two games with my heart. I like the older games more, personally Revelations is my favorite game out of all of them. But I liked what they tried to do with Mirage, I think they tried going back to more simplistic less stylish animations of the game and worried about the games story, ((Or they were just lazy,)) but I enjoyed Mirage, it made me want to play AC1 and 2 again. I love stealth in AC games, bc I'm bad at it and a sense of pride comes when I actually kill my target in complete stealth. Or finding some way to kill the target other than just running through the crowd and killing him or blend assassination. Like until I saw you could kill what is his face from the hiding place in your "first" assassination target from the Council in unity. People request unity, give them that. But don't burn yourself out on it. I have seen enough unity, personally I'd like to see some AC:Rogue Stealth, perhaps even Black Flag or Freedom Cry. Much love to you Altair Stealth and Leo, you guys helped me like stealth in the AC games more. And its good to see you two coming together and actually doing this! Maybe you would like the game Thief as well, its first person sadly, but it gives me an AC kinda feel with its stealth and I'd like to see you do some stealth in that game as well.
@@AltairStealth I love syndicate but I hate when it gets compared to Unity. While I prefer Unity, Syndicate is different in so many ways, while the parkour was pretty much copy and paste, it was more limited and had different elements.

To this day, I still dream of an ac1 sequel that's not ac2. Like it can work by just setting it on an alternate timeline something like that but why would Ubi do such a thing anyways.
I've been playing since just a couple months before brotherhood came out. I always loved this series for the story and historical setting, its actually what mativates my interest in history in general. I also enjoy the freedom the series gave you in terms of gameplay. However, this is the first video I've seen that's actually given me a sense that there's a COMMUNITY associated with this game, regardless of how spread out and niche it is. It's nice knowing that other people enjoy this series as much as I do. P.S. Is mirage worth the pickup?
i loved playing unity and trying to ONLY kill the target. it was really hard in some interior levels, but when you got it man it felt good. no disguise though, that magic ruins it for me. berserker darts though? 100% lol. warms my heart though to hear people talk fondly of unity. i've been an ac fan since ac1 was announced, the pitch was insane, trailer blew my mind, hooked since. and unity was my dream game after ac1. player customization, hitman style missions, stealth, incredible animations and setting, and co-op missions. I really hope mirage is a sign that ubisoft is going to go back to something like that. if they nail that formula its going to be huge. also, imagine if it was AC: Persia, and its a proper sequel to the story of AC 1 (which was heavily based on the history of the real order of nizari assassins who lived at maysaf. I'd love a more historical game set in that period that harkens back to prince of persia and AC 1 but with the features of unity.
An insanely overpopulated futuristic city with humans n robots (considering ubi's history u can't tell the difference between them) it can be like the future protagonist can change the past in the futuristic setting in some way or form in order to prevent the Templar order
One thing I’ve took from AC after all the years of hearing the dislike or just general criticism of these games. That AC is a skill based Role-play game. Meaning if you physically have a hard time learning how to play, you will be pulled out of the immersion/fun. There is a skill ceiling to AC games, cause they are fun games, all of them. Lore is a different story, or random choices that frustrate players like Eivor, and the Isu. That’s totally up for debate.
Folks who don't understand the draw of speed ghost style don't understand why I want a mod that makes guards check hiding spots more frequently or lets them wake up enemies I've knocked out instead of assassinated.
tbh but this might be a stretch but a AC setting with that cyperpunk type story would be fire if we can create our own assassin look wise something like cyberpunk and if they implement a lotta modern day lore from the end of valhalla and the reincarnation system with the reader (desmond idc) and layla figured out the answer to prevent the near end with basim as the master assassin of that time period or as one of the endgame villains just make the gameplay feel like unity parkour system with some watch dogs 2 gamefeeling and you might have a perfect remedy for a AC creed game with a good online feature also idk its just a idea
AC1 does *not* change its core mindset during present day because Desmond and Altaïr are both detectives. In the historical section, you're talking to people, investigating documents, and pickpocketing couriers. In the present day, you're talking to people, investigating emails, and pickpocketing old men. They both push you to use your perception of the world around you to advance your understanding of it in the same way. The only difference is that in present day there's no pickpocketing minigame. Furthermore, the open world freedom is an illusion because there isn't actually anything to do that isn't related to killing your target. In 2007 we probably wouldn't have even used that word to describe it because of how segmented it is. The only reason to save citizens is to unlock monks or vigilantes to help you operate. The only reason to do investigations is to learn more about your target. Altaïr has one job, and that's to end someone's life. He's just as much a prisoner of Al Mualim's punishment as Desmond is of Abstergo
I think a non-lethal stealth video would be interesting to see, we’re all used to just slaughtering everyone so intentionally avoiding it would be cool
I think ac2 was still fine for modern day it started going downhill with brotherhood and totally derailed with black flag. And the modern day is beyond repair. We need a reboot to fix it
Bro, we do the same with SC and MGS! Try to kill as few enemies as possible and avoid detection. And we get...NO views lol. But it's the most fun way to play stealth imo.
great vid but i have a question. I'm getting back into this series and I was going to start with the first game in the timeline which is Odyssey. Should I play origins before Odyssey or can I dive into Odyssey first and have origins make sense with the story? I know there's certain things in origins that come from Odyssey (story wise) placed all over in origins. But should I play origins first or can inplay origins then odyssey and have the atory still make sense? Im aware Odyssey ganeplay was made 10x better since it came out after origins.

Man that part about ac1 and what makes it great brought a tear to my eye. I'm glad there are more people who understand what made it great.
Especially the horror aspect. As someone who came from a religious household, the amount of sacrilege in it, and the way it capitalized on conspiracy theories at the time, was refreshing and a scary "what if?" scenario. AC also fount like an AR-game. In that it coincided with the time and events of our waking life. Even 3 had to be released before 2012 due to the conspiracy theory of the end of the world happening there, for better or worse.
It was also an ARg because just like how Desmond enters the animus, we use our respective console to play ac, and immerse ourselves into this weird, parallel world and intake the experiences ourselves.
I also loved that bit about how Desmond is trapped irl, but feels free in the animus, yet, in the animus, we are also controlled. That's how I feel about real life. I am only alive when I play games.
And those who came before? Ooh boy, scary things for a believer of a god.
Assassins creed is what you make it, one has to do what needs to be done for one to enjoy it

When they announced AC Hexe will be a different AC game I have been secretly hoping that it would be a AC horror game with the right amount of mythologies and witches.

For the Souls like idea, hard agree. There's so much missinformation (in no small part thanks to TH-camr that do a poor job showing these games) and people still think you only need OP weapons or builds, when anything can and will be viable and strong. I'll support that idea!

It was around 2015 when i came across Unity and fell in love with it immediately and watched through the whole playthrough of it because i couldn't afford it nor do i have the specs to play it. years later, i finally got to play Unity while already forgetting everything about the story (kinda thankful for that lol) and you two (and Master Assasins) have been a huge influence to my playstyle.

Nice job. I agree with your statement upon refining and reiterating. Especially nowadays when Ubisoft is obviously following two directions with the more classic AC (like Mirage) and the RPG AC (like Origins) it would be great if they focus in one of this directions on parkour and stealth. Maybe even with different difficulties.
One thing I'm interested in and you sadly didn't cover, is your opinion on an AC multiplayer/coop game. I believe it could be fun to get such a game. Maybe located in the Future with the possibility to go to an Animus and play one of the known Assassin's.
That would have been good to cover but in short we both love it and want it back
So I will say this, I love Unity, even though its a buggy mess sometimes. I love unity for the fact of, it had a great story, being able to pick and use different robes is amazing, and than my MAJOR thing about it is the animations, from the climbing/parkour, to the finishers and assassinations. I loved unity because of that. But another reason was because of the game before it...Rogue, Shay's story being tied in with Arno's is just amazing. I loved those two games with my heart. I like the older games more, personally Revelations is my favorite game out of all of them. But I liked what they tried to do with Mirage, I think they tried going back to more simplistic less stylish animations of the game and worried about the games story, ((Or they were just lazy,)) but I enjoyed Mirage, it made me want to play AC1 and 2 again. I love stealth in AC games, bc I'm bad at it and a sense of pride comes when I actually kill my target in complete stealth. Or finding some way to kill the target other than just running through the crowd and killing him or blend assassination. Like until I saw you could kill what is his face from the hiding place in your "first" assassination target from the Council in unity.
People request unity, give them that. But don't burn yourself out on it. I have seen enough unity, personally I'd like to see some AC:Rogue Stealth, perhaps even Black Flag or Freedom Cry.

Maybe you would like the game Thief as well, its first person sadly, but it gives me an AC kinda feel with its stealth and I'd like to see you do some stealth in that game as well.

@@AltairStealth I love syndicate but I hate when it gets compared to Unity. While I prefer Unity, Syndicate is different in so many ways, while the parkour was pretty much copy and paste, it was more limited and had different elements.

i really really wish ac games had more environmental interactions to either kill or distract or interact with in new ways
To this day, I still dream of an ac1 sequel that's not ac2. Like it can work by just setting it on an alternate timeline something like that but why would Ubi do such a thing anyways.
I've been playing since just a couple months before brotherhood came out. I always loved this series for the story and historical setting, its actually what mativates my interest in history in general. I also enjoy the freedom the series gave you in terms of gameplay.
However, this is the first video I've seen that's actually given me a sense that there's a COMMUNITY associated with this game, regardless of how spread out and niche it is. It's nice knowing that other people enjoy this series as much as I do.
P.S. Is mirage worth the pickup?
i loved playing unity and trying to ONLY kill the target. it was really hard in some interior levels, but when you got it man it felt good. no disguise though, that magic ruins it for me. berserker darts though? 100% lol. warms my heart though to hear people talk fondly of unity. i've been an ac fan since ac1 was announced, the pitch was insane, trailer blew my mind, hooked since. and unity was my dream game after ac1. player customization, hitman style missions, stealth, incredible animations and setting, and co-op missions. I really hope mirage is a sign that ubisoft is going to go back to something like that. if they nail that formula its going to be huge. also, imagine if it was AC: Persia, and its a proper sequel to the story of AC 1 (which was heavily based on the history of the real order of nizari assassins who lived at maysaf. I'd love a more historical game set in that period that harkens back to prince of persia and AC 1 but with the features of unity.
I wonder if it's possible to mod Valhalla to be like Mirage like a detection system etc?!

An insanely overpopulated futuristic city with humans n robots (considering ubi's history u can't tell the difference between them) it can be like the future protagonist can change the past in the futuristic setting in some way or form in order to prevent the Templar order

One thing I’ve took from AC after all the years of hearing the dislike or just general criticism of these games.
That AC is a skill based Role-play game. Meaning if you physically have a hard time learning how to play, you will be pulled out of the immersion/fun.
There is a skill ceiling to AC games, cause they are fun games, all of them.
Lore is a different story, or random choices that frustrate players like Eivor, and the Isu.
That’s totally up for debate.
Folks who don't understand the draw of speed ghost style don't understand why I want a mod that makes guards check hiding spots more frequently or lets them wake up enemies I've knocked out instead of assassinated.

tbh but this might be a stretch but a AC setting with that cyperpunk type story would be fire if we can create our own assassin look wise something like cyberpunk and if they implement a lotta modern day lore from the end of valhalla and the reincarnation system with the reader (desmond idc) and layla figured out the answer to prevent the near end with basim as the master assassin of that time period or as one of the endgame villains just make the gameplay feel like unity parkour system with some watch dogs 2 gamefeeling and you might have a perfect remedy for a AC creed game with a good online feature also idk its just a idea
AC1 does *not* change its core mindset during present day because Desmond and Altaïr are both detectives. In the historical section, you're talking to people, investigating documents, and pickpocketing couriers. In the present day, you're talking to people, investigating emails, and pickpocketing old men. They both push you to use your perception of the world around you to advance your understanding of it in the same way. The only difference is that in present day there's no pickpocketing minigame. Furthermore, the open world freedom is an illusion because there isn't actually anything to do that isn't related to killing your target. In 2007 we probably wouldn't have even used that word to describe it because of how segmented it is. The only reason to save citizens is to unlock monks or vigilantes to help you operate. The only reason to do investigations is to learn more about your target. Altaïr has one job, and that's to end someone's life. He's just as much a prisoner of Al Mualim's punishment as Desmond is of Abstergo

great vid but i have a question. I'm getting back into this series and I was going to start with the first game in the timeline which is Odyssey. Should I play origins before Odyssey or can I dive into Odyssey first and have origins make sense with the story? I know there's certain things in origins that come from Odyssey (story wise) placed all over in origins. But should I play origins first or can inplay origins then odyssey and have the atory still make sense? Im aware Odyssey ganeplay was made 10x better since it came out after origins.
origins will help you make sense of the modern day story and its a better game
