    Thank you for this video. I have been making body butters, soaps, and shaving products for over 3 years now and I still have a lot to learn....watched a million tutorials. Like you I had to try or buy every new EO, or butter base or MP soap base that I read about. If it was organic I had to try it...and I had the best time telling them what was in it. I gave away a lot of products which my friends/family absolutely loved and started buying from me. But, now I'm toning things down to a select few products and I have an idea of a new product for sometime 2022. I like the idea of perhaps having just one new product a year, but for me it has to be something unique about the product. I was always coming up with something different, but now I keep a lot of things to myself and make a decision according to what my customers really like and ask them for suggestions, instead of, "Hey, can you try this and let me know". I just opened my ecommerce store and it is not easy, but I gives me joy and at 74 it keeps me going. Thank you for being so direct, honest and professional😍👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽. You've given me a lot of tips!

    As a boy idk why but i've noticed so many girls and women feel ashamed or kinda shy to promote their stuff irl and even online sometimes
    Like i kinda get it because i don't have friends and been suffering with social anxiety so im not out there but tbh for my business i would yell in streets😭 and since it's a whole industry you should continuously promote yourself because people might forget of you in a matter of weeks

    I really enjoyed this video and the transparency I got from you. I liked that you mentioned if a person is looking for something specific and you know your products wouldn’t be what they need you’d tell them.
    People are looking for a quick buck now (and I get ppl have products to sell) but just being honest in my opinion would’ve made come back!

    I’m not sure if anyone can help me, I live in Louisiana and I started making CP soap the end of 2018.... I took a break when Covid showed up.... I’ve been doing it mainly as a hobby and I use it myself and family as well... I got back into in December and I have made several batches, well it came up in conversation at work and now I have co-workers who want to buy from me.... I’m terrified because I am not a business and I don’t have license or anything.... honestly I work full time but I love making soap and I wouldn’t mind selling it to the side, I just don’t know what to do to sell it without getting in some type of trouble... any advice is appreciated... TIA

    • @brendarowe984
      @brendarowe984 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Christal S If you are selling to your friends here and there then go for it. Use the cash they give you to buy groceries etc. It's no different than if you were giving 10 bars of soap to a friend or family as a birthday gift or something. Be proud of what you make, love what you do, and people will give money to you. :) I hope you see this message....

    Typing this whole still watching. Do you have any tips for when someone steals your marketing strategies. For example, whatever I post on IG another soap maker who follows me post the same thing. So if i do a giveaway she does a giveaway. If I post a pic of my soaps curing she'll do the same right after. It frustrating because I've worked hard educating myself and I know she just started this on a whim. I try to ignore it but it lowkey hurts because I take pride in being original.

      JezreelJoy someone copying you is ALWAYS one step behind you. Remember that. I’ve experienced this too & I know it’s really aggravating. Just keep doing you & you will stay ahead cause she can’t be you & her customers will see through her if she’s not passionate about her products.💕

    Hi Carmen, I so enjoy all your videos, I appreciate the hard work that goes into them! I always look forward to your next video. Now that I sound like a stacker, LOL. I do have a question: I do see you use lard, I live in the eastern US where animal fats aren’t well received. Is it a hard sell for you? I love tallow and process my own, but during testing when people find out there’s tallow in the soap I get the “yuck” face. This has actually postponed my opening my website. I am feeling I need to just go to palm but my soap isn’t any where as nice! So would you stand by your differences or give the customer what they will use? I would like to see a video talking about marketing your lard soaps? Thank you for any insight you have on this subject. 😃 have a wonderful day.

      I live on the west coast and yeah there are "vegans" that wont buy products with bees wax or goats milk, or they want all natural with no lye (I know it cant be done but they are looking for it) or some soap that can do all sorts of things. That said if you use tallow because it is a wonderful oil that is super conditioning don't worry there are lots of folks who want that. In fact folks will hunt you down because you are unique so dont worry about the all vegetable based thing just do your thing

  • @h2t26

    You can't make medical claims about your soap. It makes it go rom cosmetic to a drug (medication) which will force it to be regulated by the FDA. I'm not saying that there aren't benefits to certain ingredients, like I love the way clays and other things make the soap and the wash feel, but I wouldn't tell anyone that it cures anything.
    I was considering starting to sell after falling head over heels for this hobby recently. There is a lot to consider, and for me who has a full time job and not interested in quitting it, I just wont have the time needed to make it big. There are so many costs that go into it to. In my state it's not just simple registration of local government. I need protection from lawsuit, so its insurance, LLC, and private mailbox coting me nearly 2k a yr altogether in my state. It would be cheaper to not sell
