the best I have seen in you tube in what comes to instruction of Congas, I wonder why cuban or puerto rican players are not as good when it comes to teaching it....
Thank you Victor for watching and your support. Actually I am puerto Rican haha. While I do realize there are many great conga players and teachers out there, I also recognize teaching is a gift and a skill. Hopefully I do will continue to grow in both my playing and teaching. The most important thing is that it helps someone. Thanks again!
I've been a fan of the Congas since the very first moment I ever heard their unique sound. I'd have to say that the Congas are "deceptively simple"...Seems so easy, but Boy Howdy that sure as hell is not the case! So many nuances...so many tempo detours, so many possibilities!! Your skills are immense and quite enviable. I hope that someday I will be able to put a few of those skills securely in my back pocket. Practice is the only way... Appreciate your videos and the time you take to make them brother!!
Man how did i miss this video this is really good stuff. Thanks!!!! for sharing cant wait to go practice. I jumped into all the latin beats first this is what i've been looking for.
The higher quality videos are often recorded by a professional videographer (sometimes using a canon 5D or Nikon) such as Adam C Erickson or Dalton Carter. If it is a medium quality but clear video it may have been shot with a Kodak ZI8 (very nice camera and affordable price for what it can do). Some of the lower quality to medium (depending on lighting) were shot from my phone. As far as the room is concerned it is my studio and I have acoustic paneling to help capture unwanted bouncing of soun
Also thank you for your previous comments as well. There are a lot of great drummers and videos out there. I suppose we all help to create a pool of creativity and inspiration. My prayer is that I am a positive contribution. If you get the chance check out Flor de Vida on itunes. Thank you again and feel free to keep in touch
haha yes... but it's one of those "don't throw the baby out with the bath water..." Keeping focus of what I am teaching, the next thing to present, (script?curriculum) playing while being in front of the camera is not easy. Things like that are bound to happen. It's ok.
Very nice! You provide a nice, clear explaination on the rudiments! I'll be checking out your other vid's.
