I always thought the best ending would have been if he died without being detected, just a random old nobody that no one cares about, reminiscent about glory days that are only appealing to himself and some lowlife criminals. No 'glorious' retribution and especially not this fanboy convention ending - the only good part to me was closure with Kim.
Without the music, it's more of a somber ending, that Jimmy will never be able to escape the name he's made for himself. With the music, it's a more triumphant ending, Jimmy's reputation has it's perks in prison, and his time is going to be just fine.

But the thing is that the prison has a decent number of guards and a lot of security. Huell beats up most of the guards, but one guard captures him, and he is sent back to his cell. I love the atmosphere of this! It really feels weirdly hopeful, like he's beginning to feel smug and confident again because he's got these prisoners on his side and they're gonna break him out
I think not. Like, Saul became extremely famous with his ability to free any criminal from severe punishment, he literally was the savior of anyone who committed a crime. If he was a lawyer who got criminals arrested, there would certainly be something to worry about, but his legal career has always been on their side.

My favorite moment of the Better Call Saul is when Slippin' Jimmy stood in front of the prison bars and said: "It's *Slippin' time* folks!" and slipped through the prison fence and he was sliding to the horizon under the title theme of the series.
That moment when you see Kim post-BB for the first time and that she's moved on and is now with another partner made me feel a deep sense of melancholy and sadness that I've never felt with any other movie or TV series I can't even describe
