It’s crazy how so many people have mastered the wheelie. Especially those inner city kids who I doubt have any access to parks or private land to ride. Just full on poaching!
Looks like you got some skills my guy. Would like to hear your thoughts on highway wheelies. Back in the day we always looked at the highway as the safest place to rip long wheelies.
If you have foot brake on lock it’s fine but the highway definitely isn’t the place to learn or progress. I started off on the highway like most people and now that I’ve got it down I’ve started doing highway wheelies again, but for people trying to improve the lot is really the best place
🚀 love the video man! Thank you! I am on day 28/ 30 wheelie challenge, and learnt to clutch up, chase pretty high and foot brake. Approaching balance point feels so sketchy as I feel the bike get very light and try to pivot back from underneath me… so I brake or cut the throttle 😂 2022 MT09 in 1st gear with power mode 4(rain mode) and traction ctrl off
Love the video brother❤ my favorite series ❤ fast wheelie are boring love practicing the slow wheelies now on my smaller bikes for now 😂🎉❤ I used to dip my daytona 675r and used to carry the wheelie longer but never knew about dipping past the balance point When the bike is weightless is it at balance point or past balance point? I can wheelie way better after practicing to clutch up to balance point and practicing foot brake for muscle memory. ❤ Thank you once again brother ❤ need more videos on this series and maybe featuring your friends for more tips 😂
If it’s weightless and you’re on the throttle it’s balance point, if it weightless and you’re off the throttle and the bike is slowing down without the front end coming down it’s behind balance point
hey jar7d i seen alot of brasilian guys do a "swerve" wheelie start, they do it alot with small cc bikes that don't have alot of power but also with bigger bikes at higher speeds i think it helps the bike getting up with more ease than just doing a clutch up, do you have any idea on how to do it and eventually make a tutorial about it
I think the word your looking for is muscle memory and yes it's crucial to being able to control a wheelie. If your have the brake down then when you go to these big rides and they say "anyone that can't control a wheelie then this ride isn't the place to learn" you won't be in that category anymore.
Usually I say muscle memory but I chose not to because it’s really more than that. Foot brake should be your automatic reflex just like when the doctor taps your knee in a check up. Muscle memory is kind of more like the feel for how much brake you should give, but being a reflex is a reaction to foot brake based on where the bike is at
That’s a good idea. For the most part body position is just however you’re comfortable and a good psi is around 20-25. I will say though, if you’re having issues wobbling side to side, sitting close to the gas tank can help vs sitting way in the back of your seat
I’m at the point where I gotta try and dip and it’s so damn hard I never thought dipping would be so difficult mainly because I’m scared of the wobbles
So do you need to be able to get higher up at balance point to control the wheelie? I can wheelie but I would need to get up to speed, clutch up and I find my myself chasing the wheelies, plues my R6 power band is shit so even revving it high to pop wheelies is difficult, hence why I wheelie and higher speed because it’s easier to pop it up since it’s already at power band, I’m gonna change the sprockets so that should definitely allow me to wheelie without higher speeds
Do you have your ecu tuned for less engine brake? Or is it idled up for less engine brake? Just wondering because my fz07 has soo much engine brake that i have to stay on the throttle even after balance point while also using the brake. Its kind of annoying having so much engine brake.
I don’t run higher idle and I don’t have a tune. If you can’t let off the throttle and still be dipping you’re just not far enough back. My bike has a 54 tooth sprocket so I most likely have more engine brake than you, you’ll just have to go higher or maybe try a higher gear
@jar7d Got it👍 thanks for the reply, this helps. And these tutorials are top notch 👌 If you have any tips on one-handed sit downs/knee knockers, I would love to see that.
Great video im almost at balance point and i dont quite have the muscle memory down so this is a good video to help get over the hump from that intermediate level to more advanced wheelies -MIXTPRINCE
Bro, if they try to follow you they will loop their bikes.. they need to work on brake control and that's it.. if your bike hits 23mph put the front down. Just work on pulling it up almost from a stand still and going as slow as you can to 20 mph. In fact you should practice riding in a straight line as slow as you can using rear brake only before trying to wheelie. Try to balance bike at stall point. That will teach you side to side balance and back brake control. Master wheeling slow to a stall speed where you can hop off and walk with the bike at 12. That's the foundation to all other wheelies.
Yea bro seems like you completely missed the first 2 minutes where I said if you don’t know brake control to just work on popping up and immediately footbraking. This video isn’t about learning footbrake to avoid looping it’s about the precision with it to actually control the bike and the way you dip to control speed in a pack or set the 12 bar down nice for a scrape. And this is for any bike, what you’re recommending is basically only useful for a grom. Anyone who wants to learn with only a difficult bike like a stock 600 or liter bike is not gonna pop from a dead stop. And anyone too short to really get both feet on the ground is gonna drop their bike slamming it down at a dead stop. And the way I teach about popping it up and immediately foot braking wouldn’t make anyone loop as long as they actually hit the foot brake like I tell them to. They would loop the same from a dead stop too if they get spooked and don’t hit the brake, the only difference is they’d probably get less hurt.
@@jar7dhitting the brake to catch the bike is more advanced. They should start off with pressure already on the back brake, and pull up slow. The idea is get comfortable with the bike at 12 when it's going slow. You dont want to experience the 12 o clock feeling while going fast for the first time because people panic. You should be able to pop clutch and park bike on its tail withing a couple feet before doing faster wheelies. You started the video right but they should just keep practicing at slow speed first.
@@jar7d But what's the reasoning behind that, it would still let you brake so wouldn't it just be safer to not lock up the rear? Or will the brake not work at all because of the ABS-sensor?
Finally a video on YT that explains every move you do when doing à wheelie. This is some good stuff man. Keep it up 👍

Lettssss goooo!!! Cuz of you i learned in 3 days. Been riding for 5 years, finally achieved my goal 🎉 Thanks Dude 😎 💪
That’s awesome!
This vid is fire, I’m in the beginning stages and you explained it perfectly💯
Will practice first things tomorrow. Needed to hear the "should be reflex" part where u talked about rear braking . Good video bro!!!
Very helpful man. Wish I had a r7 to practice on my buddy has one and it just seems like there balance point is so good
this video is gold man. You deserve 100k subs. this year!!!
That tip about foot braking when you don’t need to to build muscle memory is really great
That bike sounds awesome 👌
This is insanly good, even more so how sensitive the mt09 is with the torque
Nice tutorials. And you have a playlist for em🏆😁✌️
That has got to be the most tier marked floor I have ever seen in my life.

Could you make a video now about body position during wheelie and what psi to run in rear for best balance of riding/wheelies?

@@jar7d 👍Thanks for the tip
Nice bro
Q: oversized rear sprocket
The R7 has one, not the fz09. It’s not necessary for wheelies though, it just helps for circle wheelies. I wheelie stock bikes all the time
I noticed you've got a crash guard an a wheelie bar that protects the sides of the tail too. Is it all you need to be crash proofed ?
Yeah
I’m at the point where I gotta try and dip and it’s so damn hard I never thought dipping would be so difficult mainly because I’m scared of the wobbles
Just have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. But try to work on being less wobbly first

Whats the best type of bike to learn to wheelie on?
Honda grom
What’s the extra lever on the clutch side
Rear break on a lever
Very helpful video! What steering damper is on the fz09? Really want one for mine but don't have GPR or Ohlins money. That one looks to be off brand?
From Amazon
Nice video, what tire pressure is best for wheelies like this ?
Probably 20-25
Tnx dude @@jar7d
Bro you’re on second gear? I’m with mt07 same motor like yours trying to figure out
Yes
In which geAr ⚙️ were you wheeling
In this video probably all second gear but depending on what I’m trying to do I could use gears 1-4
Thank you for the fz i talk to your friend about it
Say hello to him
What bar is at the back for wheelieing
FMS sub cage
@@jar7d thanks
I can do this in Yamaha DT
what mode and gear do you use on the fz09 for those slow wheelies?
B mode 2nd gear usually. Sometimes 1st but mainly 2nd
What should the rear tire air pressure be?
Whatever you wheelie best with. I wouldn’t go less that like 15 though
How are you recording audio?
Mic plugged in to my go pro
@@jar7d man I barely hear the motor. Are you splitting off a sena or something? Super clear. Thanks for the reply bro!!
do you pull the clutch when you use your rear brake?
For advanced stuff sometimes but not with a basic wheelie
Like and subbed, Mezz sent me!
Do I use 0% gas after balance point?
only the brake?
Yeah when you pass it you let off the gas completely, when you’re in balance point though you stay in the gas
What is the gearing do u use? 13-48?
Stock fz09, and the r7 is stock front with a 52 in the back
