People who get rezzed as Guardians usually exhibted some level of virtue in their previous lives, including Uldren Sov.
Taniks on the hand is only in for the money, he doesnt really have any virtues we know off.
I’d actually prefer it to be Skolas. But that’s probably just my bias of loving Skolas as a character

History of the Hive's dark gods? Nah. Unraveling the mysteries of the Vex? Nope. Learning the ancient cosmic history of the Darkness? No.

To be quite honest, writing compelling lore about an alien race eating ramen is way harder than creating a cool story about the darkness or hive gods, as this one needs to feel grounded and human to be appreciated.
It's always nice to enjoy the little things once in a while.
There is more lore built upon that moment as well, dont know on which gun though

@@TerribleWarden in one of the Destiny 2 promos, there was a video of zavala and the time he became a guardian. It shows how he brought people out of a dark age who had nothing and into a city with protection. That video also showed how the fallen would frequently attack and how he defended the people.
New ramen emblem in the database for this season, I do not think we know the source yet though.

Honestly seeing old enemies as potential allies has always fascinated me, and between Ciatal and Mithrax I see a unified force willing to stand for our right to survive, as that’s what all of us are in the end Eliksni, Cabal, and humanity, Survivors.
@Ghost Phoenix Well by nature before the current human timeline Krill are the sole property of a para-causal entity of unknown power while the Vex are super futuristic robots from before time itself as far as we are concerned whose only goal is to determine and fulfill forseen simulations in which they are the "only remaining thing alive in the cosmos" if one can call them alive...
It would make sense our enemys become our allies, Cabal, fallen are the races we have a good chance of working with, even if new leaders learn from the mistakes of the old groups they followed

@@iterationfackshet1990 I've given that some thought, and I don't think it would be too far of a stretch to have a splinter faction form from the Vex that side with the Light. Where the Vex in general seek a stagnant future where all things are Vex, and the Sol Divisive openly worship the Darkness and Seek to bring all things to a final End... Perhaps there could be a group of Vex who are impressed by the Light, and the idea of a forever changing and self perpetuating future? However, the Vex operate under different objectives than the rest of us. So for them to join us, they would need a radically significant end goal. Something like having the chance to become part of existence itself, as a sort of keeper of time and space to prevent anyone from unraveling the Traveler's end game of a self perpetuating and ever evolving universe. This can't happen if the Darkness wins. But it can if either the Light wins, or both the Light and the Darkness are shattered and dispersed throughout the verse. This to me seems like an acceptable gamble for the Vex to dedicate a token force to achieve. That way, no matter what, the Vex will exist perpetually. It's just a game theory though, so don't put any stock in my words here.

I saw two Eliksni in front of a vending machine on my way to the Black Armory. It warmed my heart. That and the hatchlings. Those were adorable when I saw them.
They're bickering over how to properly use the machine while the hatchlings just want grape soda.
i thought that it was a fuse box and they were turning the lights on and off but vending machine makes so much more sense

1 year later... they are still at the machine trying to get a soda. Very concerning especially with Drifter nearby.
Personally I think the Destiny 2 storyline should end with the Guardians and the enemies of humanity all just hanging out together at the Ramen shop. Sharing some drinks together, having a good laugh.

These stories make me so happy. Ever since I learned the history of the Eliksni I've wanted an alliance. They were chosen once just like us and suffered just like us. The darkness pitted us against each other and it's funny how now it brings us together. I hope everything works out in the end.

It's bittersweet because of how troubled the transition is going to be, but I'm just really glad this has finally happened despite how hard it'll be for both of us. I've waited a *long* time for this moment in destiny history and I'm proud to be there to see it.

Me too. I never stopped feeling guilt for killing Fallen no matter how long I played. It’s war, but it’s so much better to be building relationships.
I hope this teaches some people IRL about how to love people that are different from themselves.
And the day we can play as a new eliksni guardian for a character, will be a truly beautiful day. Heck, could even allow for a whole new range of armor!!!

That’d be really cool. Especially considering our guardian is seen as a hero among guardians and the city folk alike. It’d be neat but I doubt it
Personally if I had the choice if this alliance doesn't work out I'd gladly ditch the Last City to help House Light. The people of the city are morons. The Darkness is here and has literally stolen planets, why can;t these idiots see the bigger picture it's really not that hard.

Other species don’t, it’s very difficult for the people of the city to realize that the only reason they are even breathing is cause guardians. Sure guardians aren’t all great, they’re flawed but also are human who can see why we need allies. The people just see it as us pushing them around.

Ever since I've started playing Destiny, I've always been fascinated by the Eliksni, just everything about them is so interesting, and hearing about them trying to adjust to the last city has me even more interested in them

After reading it myself I now feel more disgusted with the anti eliksni people of the city with their sociopathic leader Lakshmi-2 than the Hive and their Taken. I was put off by the faction leaders before but now I want Lakshmi’s head to be severed and firmly mounted on a titans shoulder guard to serve as an ornament.

I've been waiting for this! It makes me smile like a dope to hear of eliksni experiencing human life and showing us some of their culture as well
same!! so nice to see this in the lore, although it's not all happy it's still a compassionate addition to the storytelling. so much so I have a hard time completing bounties that make you kill eliksni and I refuse to to call them "fallen" now lol

All I want is for more Eliksni to appear around the tower as we go further into the season. Banshee needs a gunsmith apprentice
He would just constantly turn to him and needing to be explained again that he is a friend and not an invader
@@giorgiomezzanzanica3693 conversely though, Bungie could also turn it into a way to tease the next season pass exotic. Each weekend you talk to the Eliksni as the gunsmith and you see Banshee slowly constructing a new exotic we haven't seen until we get the new season trailer where we get to see it in action.
And would also add a bit of context to why you get the catalyst quest from Banshee.
I like Ada's lines about not fearing the dark as a new tool, about seeing guardians and warlords do just as bad with the light

They are not nice words, but our eliksni connoisseur did not know that.
the fact that he offered the ramen shop owner a little floating traveler model is the cutest shit ever and i would GLADLY accept that as compensation.
Hopefully in the near future we can see some of Caital’s Cabal in The Last City, and hopefully people will get along with them to.
Not something that could happen any time soon (as in before witch queen), but maybe before light fall we could see some more alliances form.

I actually love the story of this season. I’m not even gonna lie.
Honestly I didn't expect how truly happy and delighted I would be this season by these little tidbits of positive interaction with the Eliksni, both humanity and the free-thinking Eliksni of house light DESERVE a chance at shared peace and hope, because if we CAN attain a true alliance with them, think of how much stronger the city and the guardians would be for it! We stand so far better a chance at not only surviving but thriving in this dark world if we stand together, Humanity, Caiatl's Cabal and Miisraks' house of Light, together no force could stop us, not the Hive, not the vex, not even the darkness could stand against a united Sol, and one day we might know true peace and prosperity.
Not even the vex are all bad like captain jacobson (friendly harpy) and the empatic minds who turned him into a vex so he won't die
Reading some of the lore this season makes me really sad. Simple misunderstandings keep leading to tragedy.
On the other hand you also have Eido observations on humanity, such as partying (which she's not sure any Eliksni could survive the drinking)
A lore tab about an Eliksni eating spicy ramen in the tower is something that I didn't know I needed but that just made my day

I love these lore entries. Ever since day 1 I wanted eliksni to ally with humanity because both species were basically the same. The day where an alliance was possible is a good day for me a D1 vet.

Thanks for your final thoughts Byf - you absolutely nailed it! Guardians are also amenable to having Eliksni allies because thankfully - player guardians are decent empathetic people and I am 1000% sure that Bungo is counting on that to create an organic livable story.

I just want to imagine Byf having his own little library corner in the city where he holds history lessons and talks to citizens and guardians about lore and being a voice of education and reason to contrast that of Lakshmi-2's fear and ignorance.
I could just imagine guardians and the fallen sitting Cris-cross together just listening to byf talk about the history of the last city and the history of the fallen in his library.

I came here to listen about Fallen living in the tower, what I got is not only that but a wholesome lesson as well about morality and respect for other races. It's amazing how a game could convey such a message that can relate to real-life happenings right now.
The story of the Eliksi eating ramen has officially become my favorite piece of lore in the whole game

I really like the little bits and pieces of lore about Eliksni integration in the city. Gives us a whole new perspective.

The ramen story is some of the most heartwarming stuff ive heard, damn
I just realized that the Eliksni learned the phrase that stunned everyone in the ramen shop, (Chroma Rush lore), from the event we see in part 3 of the "Beneath The Endless Night" lorebook. That Eliksni is also referenced in the Shattered Cipher lore, and there are more connections on either end of that chain. I love how connected all the lore this season is, even if those connections are part of what makes the sad ones so sad.
Watch as that one Eliksni from the ramen shop brings back his whole family group and Maurice has to give them all the first customer pass.
I love that after years of requests, eliksni get to sparrow race before guardians in D2.

I’m really happy that the Ramen story was the first covered. And if he was still around, I’m sure Cayde-6 would have enjoyed that one too.
On a side note, I’ve got a bit of a head cannon story involving my warlock:
On a patrol to a far-off asteroid, my warlock, Jack, encountered an Eliksni tinkerer named Ga-chet, and had a nice little bonding experience discussing the small number of old-world sitcoms that had been extracted from data the salvager had found.
I know it’s not part of the official lore, but I thought I’d share it since we’re on the topic of “shared experiences”.

As a cook I absolutely agree with "Peace through food", I can't tell you how many arguments or confrontations I stopped by pulling out fresh bread with homemade jam.
The vandal sat under the ever-dark sky of the Last City, she leaned against the ground with one pair of arms and rested her head on the other two. She was getting used to having four arms again, after all this time she had regrown her limbs to their natural size. The ether that was "confiscated" from Dusk and Salvation had been just what the doctor ordered, as the guardians said.
It was strange, here she was under the shadow of the Great Machine, not just that but in the very tower and home of those that had once pointed cosmic power at her and her people. It was things like this that made her almost believe in what Misraakskel said about the Light. Almost. She had yet to take up the colors of House Light, still didn't feel right. No matter what Eido or the other said, House Light was not a true fit for her. She had been working with Variks and a few guardians well before they showed up, She didn't need them or their run-down district.
"Figure I'd find you here." A voice reverberated through metal, she turned to see the hunter named Tarba. "Savos said you came here to think."
"Alone." She huffed out.
"Don't be like that, otherwise you'll end up like Ragnell." Tarba chuckled.
"The quiet titan knows when to speak and when to be still. He is wiser than most."
"Wiser than me, you mean?" Tarba said, a smirk on her face.
"Hmm. Different kind of wisdom. You know when to bend and not break. Much like Savos. The other one, Reg-nail, he bends to the Darkness perhaps too much." She shook her head, she saw what the Pyramids did to Eramis first hand. They played with dangerous toys.
"You say that, but you haven't seen those two argue about Light and Dark. Savos rarely uses Stasis unless he is forced into a corner, even then its begrudging. For a Warlock, he sure is cautious. Though, I guess you'd know that since you've been out in the field with him." Tarba squatted down next to her. "So, Athryx, wanna do something fun?"
"Hmm? What is this?" She asked, her many eyes full of suspicion.
"Nothing too bad, just a quick fly-by of the Traveler, what do you say?" Athryx held her breath. A chance to be brought so close to the Great Machine? Did she dare? She looked up at the massive form dominating the sky, she had her doubts about Misraaks, but she always trusted the Machine even when she served Eramis for survival.
"This fly-by. How close can we get?" She chattered nervously.
Tarba smiled in a most sinister way, "Don't tell Savos."
The ramen story got me grinning ear to ear through the whole thing. Thank you for this :)
Last season, we had really strong character development in the wake of an impending danger. If we don't keep getting wholesome Eliksni lore over the next 10 weeks I'm gonna riot
The Eliksni working with and trying the human races foods are wholesome
this is too wholesome for me. I want to see this happen in-game if we ever get to explore the city itself again.
