    i think you enjoy those soft-close drawers too much lol, I can see you walking past them as you're going through the house and just randomly opening a drawer just so you can close it

    Looks great, please remember to treat you countertop on both sides, since you otherwise risk ending up with a bent countertop. Especially if you put in a dishwasher which gives out steam that can penetrate the countertop from beneath which will in essence over time steam-bend the top and make it crack (I have run across this problem many times! On a side-note on that is - you need to seal the edges as well - especially the edge that is where you cut out the hole for the sink - otherwise you risk moist and mold getting into the end grains. A recommend using a few coats of lacquer on the edge of the hole. Keep up the good work 👍💪 best regards from a Danish cabinet maker ;)
    PS. A nice trick if you want a silky smooth wooden countertop is to sand it using scotchbright sponges 🧽 while its wet with oil and then wiping it off after about 20 minutes. This will fill the grain in the wood will oil and sawdust making it smooth as a baby’s bum ;) if you want it even smoother you can polish with a peace of cardboard (make sure to fold it so you can scratch the surface)

    Kitchen is really looking wonderful! I would have used the 20cm face plate then installed 2 draws behind it for the 1m upper cupboard.

      Now that is a good idea 🧐 the tricky thing is that we’ve never used it as a ‘kitchen’ yet so it’s hard to know how we are going to use it and were exactly things will be stored! But it’s easy to change if we ever want to

    Really enjoy watching your videos. I am amazed that you have managed to do so much of your house renovation all by yourself. Well done! Your enthusiasm is infectious and has rubbed off on me so much so that I have finally got round to tidying up my study! How could I not tidy up one room when you are doing a whole house. Your place is going to look great when its finished (garden too!). Steve (A Scot who is currently living in San Diego, California)

      Aw thank so much for the awesome comment! We are very much looking forward to having a finished house… doing it ourselves is slower but I feel like it will be more rewarding when it’s done! And glad we inspired you to tidy, even though our house is a right mess haha 😅

    Putting drawers this high up will probably end up annoying you. Also that the cabinet isn‘t lining up with the fridge on top makes me itchy 😂
    I love you progress though, it‘s so much fun to watch u guys.

    • @BARBSTER360
      @BARBSTER360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We spoke about the cupboard not lining up with the fridge a few episodes ago… basically there was suppose to be a cupboard above the fridge which unfortunately didn’t quite fit so that’s why it’s not lining up! But once it’s all done it will look great as the shelf’s etc will make everything all line back up again, it just looks a bit odd at the moment as it’s only half done! Also, the drawers are just an extra bit of storage so having them is better than not having them! Any extra storage in a kitchen is a good thing!!

    Love your content! FYI, see if you can avoid using flexible ducting. It will be extra noisy and the extra drag reduces the efficiency off your hood.

    • @BARBSTER360
      @BARBSTER360  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I think flexible is our only option, if I’d realised and put it in before the ceiling went up I could have put in dedicated ducting. It’s super big ducting at 150mm so hopefully it will be fine and not cause too much drag

  • @temporarynoble
    @temporarynoble 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good job on all this, think hood has to be 700 above worktop, usually in a smaller cupboard lined up with top of adjacent cabinets, not bottom…

    • @BARBSTER360
      @BARBSTER360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, as we have an induction hob the extractor is a minimum distance of 550 so that’s why we can put it in a normal cupboard at the same height as everything else. We wanted that nice clean consistent line running around the bottom of the cupboards so they don’t go up and down above the sink and cooker like a tradition kitchen usually has

    Aren't those fridge cupboard doors or handles going to hit the wall each time you open the fridge? Won't that damage the wall over time?

    • @katbar6066
      @katbar6066 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks like it opens past the end of the wall so not touching. I would probably have hinged the cupboard and bought a fridge with hinges on the left.

    • @BARBSTER360

      No we didn’t, we ended up getting them separate. Mainly due to stock issues as it was mid Covid times and they didn’t have stock of the solid sustainable wood in the correct lengths! So we got them from a different company
