Seems like Debit Card facility is the problem of this issue. The new vendor no longer accepts it. I tried both debit and credit card to purchase in game Crysta, my credit card went thru with all transactions.
What is crazy, is that you used to be able to buy the game and expansions directly on the mogstation but they removed it because there was a glitch where you could somehow assign it to yourself for free. And they just never fixed it. Actually, realized it's been years since I last checked, so maybe they did fix it at some point.
To simplify: You have a 3-day grace period for inputting your full Dawntrail registration code. It opens on July 2nd, and if you haven't put it in by July 5th, you can no longer play until you do. (Steam users haven't received CD keys yet as of June 26th)
Nothing more iconic than Square having an asinine process for anything involving their online store. Instead of just linking your XIV account to the Square Store and the store purchase flagging your account automatically, instead the XIV account being linked to the Square store does seemingly nothing and we still have to input everything manually. Thank you for making this video! This is my second expansion launch (Endwalker being my first) and while I remembered some what I had to do for that, I didn't remember all of it, so having a reminder like this helps a ton for me since I'm not quite used to how they do this stuff yet.

Oh it will happen again lol. Probably not as bad as EW launch which was peak FFXIV popularity but it's still pretty naive not to expect massive q times during the first week. I just hope it doesn't keep dcing as it was, and you had to restart your q. That's what was killing me, you were in q for 3/4 hours, get around 1k q spot, then it would disconnect and bam! back in line at like 7k ,and another 5+ hours q time (if it didn't disconnect again in the meantime that is lmao).
Dont forget Endwalker launched right in the Middle of Corony so many people were in Lockdown and right before that we had the big refugee Wave of WOW Streamers and there Community. Where most of them already quit. I doubt it will as bad as EW but there will be queue Times for sure. But instead of a 10k+ queue its maybe 3k at max.....still a lot but way better than before ^^ also they did countermeasures for it with new DCs....etc all of that wasnt possible at EW Launch.

But it'll be also naive to not expect 0 issues, especially considering EA comes out during the weekend and A LOT of people will be home just like rona time. Then by monday 1st you will probably not have that much trouble getting in as most of us will be at work (especially during working hours whatever your region is). But expect EA days to be a fight to get in lol. Again, not as bad as EW but with definitely 2/3 hours Qs and issues.

Every time an expansion releases I'm wondering what is keeping them from making it so there is only one code (the normal game code) and if you put it in before or during early access you have early access... Another part that is needlessly complicated
Can't enter Dew mount codes, etc, till July 2, I think, as well. We had a person in FC *today* (6/25) that had pre-ordered on Steam, and didn't know about the code, or where to find it. FC people set them straight, and they have the items and can log in on Friday, so, yeah.
I still don't know why Square can't just do the second part of the registration on their own rather than handing out a second round of codes. It's always been a bit of a weird thing that I don't recall happening for other games that do expansions like this. Regardless it's always been there so unless they streamline the whole thing it's probably not going away in future expansions either.

at EW's early access tho, it was hard to make the pre-purchase. it just wouldn't accept my card for a while. when it did finally accept, i got given the pre-purchase code without paying, and only got charged when we got the second code.
And that is actually the reason they give you 2 Codes and the Preorder Code lasts till AFTER the Expansion launch. It was the same for me in SB and i was happy to play further since my CE Arrived 3 Days AFTER the Expansion launch.
What happens if you're in a Dawntrail (or other new expansion) zone when the early access ends and you login without entering the second code? Does it teleport you to your home aetheryte or something?
you can look up if you have early acces on the mog station under service account (i am german so i need to translate sorry if its wrong) and then scroll down there should be a list with the expacs you are owning (they have checkmarks), if you have early acceess there will be a Dawntrail early access section, if thats not the case go into your steam libary, rightclick on FF14 - manage - product key, copy dawntrail bonus content code and paste it unto the mog station but if you got the early acess items already (Zidane Minion and Earring) you should be good to go
It's crazy that they still have not updated this process. Most games just flag your account for early access if purchased before a certain date. This is so convoluted.
Is the pre-order bonus code the same one that grants Early Access? Which means I should be able to go right into Dawntrail until I receive the launch registration code, then I must put that second code to continue playing after Friday. To my understanding, this means there isn't a third code to register just Early Access, since the pre-order bonus code covers that. Am I correct?

SE had this same overly involved process with FFXI back in 2003. At least we don't have the Playonline Launcher. It's been 21 years and we don't expect them to fix it.

No, you still need to add it to the Mogstation, you will get a second key soon when you right click on the game in your Steam Library (it isn't there just yet). Steam won't auto-register you.

If you have your earring and minion then you have early access. Bit you should get another code in your Key Section for the Full Access. These code you have to put into the Mogstation once the Expansion launches on July 2nd

@@evans178 It's definitely confusing if you're new to the game and expecting an even semi-coherent/competent registration process. Even back in the dark ages of MMOs most didn't have to split release into multiple codes, and send them out separately at random times when they can't even be used.
Just to make sure I followed, this is my first Xpac launch, and I'm a bit unsure if I understood all that. ^^; I've put in the code for Dawntrail awhile back, I have the earing and the minion, but that doesn't mean that I have Early Access on my account? I need to look for an Email Today/Tomorrow with a new code which needs to be entered to gain early access, but then later on in the week, there will be a second code to gain full access to the expansion on the official launch date...? This sounds, super weird and overcomplicated, so I kind of assume I'm misunderstanding something. ^^; .. But also, the fact the portrait system is the way it is, I wouldn't put it past them to over complicate this process into a multi phase mess like that, lol
If you have your Minion and earring then you have early Access. Depending on where you preorderd you get another code in the next Days that you have to put into the Mogstation when the official Launch begins. And they do it that way because if you preorder at Amazon or other Online Stores it could be the Case that your Game arrives AFTER the launch of the Expansion due to shipping. Happened to me at Stormblood. Bit because the Early Access last longer than the official Launch i was able to play the Game while waiting for my physical Game
If you have the EXP earring & the Zidane minion, and you entered any code associated with the pre-order then YES, you have pre-order access. If you're not on console SE will send you a code for the expac launch on July 2nd. Make sure to enter that code before the deadline on July 5th to ensure full access going forward. It's very arcane and still gives me email anxiety every launch 😅

Yes but they are 2 keys that have to be entered as described in the video. Right click the game in your Library and you will see an Early Access key and a regular Expansion Key, then add them both on the Mogstation as described.
probably can go in the mogstore and add the early access code first, I think the link is one that says "add bonus code" or something. not the "add expansion code" this one is for the one that you can add after july 2nd. then put the code that will be sent out by square enix on a different email on again on july 2nd.
So slight request for clarification. I was a console player for years and pre-ordered the collectors edition on PS5. However, I recently have transferred over to strictly PC as I finally have a sufficient setup for it. Will the early access still apply to my PC client automatically since I did the payment via console or should I expect a separate email?
I always thought that the licenses weren't transferrable between platforms. Like, I own everything on console, but if I wanted to play on PC I'd have to buy everything again. I've never swapped platform though, so could be wrong.

Edit: relooking over my service account, I only have early access available via console. However, there is no option to purchase DT for windows either atm. Every time an expansion releases I'm wondering what is keeping them from making it so there is only one code (the normal game code) and if you put it in before or during early access you have early access...

Can't enter Dew mount codes, etc, till July 2, I think, as well. We had a person in FC *today* (6/25) that had pre-ordered on Steam, and didn't know about the code, or where to find it. FC people set them straight, and they have the items and can log in on Friday, so, yeah.
I still don't know why Square can't just do the second part of the registration on their own rather than handing out a second round of codes. It's always been a bit of a weird thing that I don't recall happening for other games that do expansions like this. Regardless it's always been there so unless they streamline the whole thing it's probably not going away in future expansions either.

They really do need to fix up the account creation & modification. I just helped a friend set up the free trial and even just figuring out how to refer them (turns out it's after the free trial, but before they set up a subscription??) was ridiculously convoluted.

at EW's early access tho, it was hard to make the pre-purchase. it just wouldn't accept my card for a while. when it did finally accept, i got given the pre-purchase code without paying, and only got charged when we got the second code.
This was the killer for me in Heavensward. I ordered off Amazon, and the physical copy didn't arrive until like a week after EA ended. Shit was rough
And that is actually the reason they give you 2 Codes and the Preorder Code lasts till AFTER the Expansion launch. It was the same for me in SB and i was happy to play further since my CE Arrived 3 Days AFTER the Expansion launch.

What happens if you're in a Dawntrail (or other new expansion) zone when the early access ends and you login without entering the second code? Does it teleport you to your home aetheryte or something?

you can look up if you have early acces on the mog station under service account (i am german so i need to translate sorry if its wrong) and then scroll down there should be a list with the expacs you are owning (they have checkmarks), if you have early acceess there will be a Dawntrail early access section, if thats not the case go into your steam libary, rightclick on FF14 - manage - product key, copy dawntrail bonus content code and paste it unto the mog station but if you got the early acess items already (Zidane Minion and Earring) you should be good to go
think a new code appears in the CD key section under ff14 on steam but I could be remembering wrong
It's crazy that they still have not updated this process. Most games just flag your account for early access if purchased before a certain date. This is so convoluted.
Is the pre-order bonus code the same one that grants Early Access? Which means I should be able to go right into Dawntrail until I receive the launch registration code, then I must put that second code to continue playing after Friday. To my understanding, this means there isn't a third code to register just Early Access, since the pre-order bonus code covers that. Am I correct?

The pre order registration code is the one yhat gives you the earing and minions right or its another code? Because i already have those items and i had to cancel dawntrail bit i rebought it and now i cant enter the new one they gave me but i still have my items anyway

so ive never had to do this stuff. i always prepurchase grab my steam code and put it in. when dawntrail prepurchase first came out i also purchased it and grabed the steam code and put it in. i double checked the mog station just because of this video but it shows dawntrail and early access both with a check mark still. so is this something they have changed and ill still get a new code or am i good then?

SE had this same overly involved process with FFXI back in 2003. At least we don't have the Playonline Launcher. It's been 21 years and we don't expect them to fix it.

No, you still need to add it to the Mogstation, you will get a second key soon when you right click on the game in your Steam Library (it isn't there just yet). Steam won't auto-register you.
I’m glad I’m a console peasant first and only buy my pc copy when raid starts. I haven’t dealt with Mogstation on launch for anything past the ps3 beta.

If you have your earring and minion then you have early access. Bit you should get another code in your Key Section for the Full Access. These code you have to put into the Mogstation once the Expansion launches on July 2nd

Yes, another code and you have to register it the same way as the pre-order code.

It is:
Buy pre-order > get pre-order bonus code > apply pre-order bonus code
Get another code on the 24, that you CAN"T APPLY for 8 days
Start playing the game on the 28, still can't apply the full game code
Wait until July 2nd then apply the full code

@@evans178 It's definitely confusing if you're new to the game and expecting an even semi-coherent/competent registration process. Even back in the dark ages of MMOs most didn't have to split release into multiple codes, and send them out separately at random times when they can't even be used.

If you have your Minion and earring then you have early Access. Depending on where you preorderd you get another code in the next Days that you have to put into the Mogstation when the official Launch begins.
And they do it that way because if you preorder at Amazon or other Online Stores it could be the Case that your Game arrives AFTER the launch of the Expansion due to shipping. Happened to me at Stormblood. Bit because the Early Access last longer than the official Launch i was able to play the Game while waiting for my physical Game
If you have the EXP earring & the Zidane minion, and you entered any code associated with the pre-order then YES, you have pre-order access. If you're not on console SE will send you a code for the expac launch on July 2nd. Make sure to enter that code before the deadline on July 5th to ensure full access going forward.

Its fine, you just won't be able to access DT until you add the code, thee code does not become invalid.

Yes but they are 2 keys that have to be entered as described in the video. Right click the game in your Library and you will see an Early Access key and a regular Expansion Key, then add them both on the Mogstation as described.

probably can go in the mogstore and add the early access code first, I think the link is one that says "add bonus code" or something. not the "add expansion code" this one is for the one that you can add after july 2nd.
then put the code that will be sent out by square enix on a different email on again on july 2nd.
Then you will be fucked until Friday cause all the sites including where you enter the code will down for maintenance as well

So slight request for clarification. I was a console player for years and pre-ordered the collectors edition on PS5. However, I recently have transferred over to strictly PC as I finally have a sufficient setup for it. Will the early access still apply to my PC client automatically since I did the payment via console or should I expect a separate email?
I always thought that the licenses weren't transferrable between platforms.
Like, I own everything on console, but if I wanted to play on PC I'd have to buy everything again.
I've never swapped platform though, so could be wrong.
