This hopefully is the last vlog in which all you see is me gardening :)
My parents and American uncle and aunt are coming for my birthday so I want to get all the final chores done so the garden will be beautiful for us to enjoy the sunny days ahead.
So I hope you enjoy a pretty silent vlog and my butt... as you'll be seeing me garden from the most unflattering angles. I tell myself: I dress for the jobs and work I'm doing, not to look good on TH-cam, don't say I didn't warn you LOL

Really like the varied plant plotting and spaces throughout an apparently fairly large property. Whoever does the camera pan/edit does a first rate job too. Happy Birthday...mine was May 1st and at 77 I cherish every bit of life now. Keep enjoying life! 😉 😊🍺🍰🍾

@@annemiekvandorp4457 yes correct we have that too. It still doesn’t prevent weeds though as grains / seeds from plants fall in the gravel and grow but because they can’t root you pull them out very easily

Our winter temperature in Sth Australia can get down to -4 and the Oleanders do very well without protection.
Yes the man at the garden center told me there are a few different varieties and some can stand as low as minus 15 Celsius. I do see them at multiple places in the villages around me and I guess it really is all about the soil, the wind and where it sits.

It looks like there is new growth coming from the roots on the plant outside the greenhouse. Cut back what has died and the new growth will thrive. I think you will be amazed at how quickly it comes back.

I think you mean the one right by the door? That is a fig tree that we've kept in the greenhouse during the winter and hope to plant somewhere. We had one by the swimming pool that really didn't like it there and never gave fruit. It unfortunately didn't survive the building works of the septic tank back in 2021, so we're trying again with this one!
Oh wow, your garden is wonderful! Maybe you could give us a full tour of it one day. That would be great 😌
You basically see it all in most shots, it really isn't very big. But I will do a tour in a next video!

Merci! Tigrette me suit un peu partout et surtout elle a adoré gratter la terre où je venais de semer mes fleurs :)
Pour les lauriers, j'avais coupé les tiges et elles étaient tout sèches et mortes malheureusement. Mais je suis preneuse de tout conseil pour mieux faire l'hiver prochain pour le laurier que j'ai acheté pour cet été!
@@FrenchCountryLife j'ai longtemps gardé mon laurier rose en pot en terre cuite, sans le rentrer l'hiver mais en mettant un voile d'hivernage lors des températures basses (j'habite en région parisienne, essonne). A l'automne dernier je l'ai transplanté en pleine terre car je trouvais qu'il était étouffé dans le pot et l'hiver dernier qui n'a pourtant pas été très rude, je l'ai paillé avec de la paille de lin mais il n'a pas bien supporté cette transplantation, il est tout moche et n'a pas fleuri. Il va peut être s'adapter. En tout cas, en pot, je l'ai gardé plusieurs années. Normalement il faut les rentrer en hiver. Bonne continuation !

Moi mon olivier je ne le couvre pas du tout. Il est devant la maison, couvert par le balcon. J’habite en Moselle, il fait aussi très froid.

Winter protection: burlap works well, too.

@@FrenchCountryLife Wrap it around the plant that is being kept in the green house but leave a bit of breathing room. You don't want to choke your plant. Make sure you have a pot that cold hardy. I live in Northern Germany - similar climate as yours.

Marloes, you need to water the plants
I do and I did but the leaves turned brown very quickly after wrapping the plants for the winter… could also be the soil was still wet from all the rain the plants had. Hard to say what exactly happened

yes indeed. The female was there too but she ran into the field. They looked so adorable together ❤️
I know that you cover the plants with thick paper. In plastic they can not breath.
