As i said in another comment, for me it feels like the last few years of good times and experiences about to end and you're about to enter a new era of good times, with a little bit of distortion representing being kinda sad because the other good times are ending anyways. That's the best way i can word it. Like a credits song on the last game on the Mario franchise before the other workers begin working on another franchise with just as much if not more potential, but still are going to miss the good times they had programming, conceptualizing and composing for the Mario series.

Even when you just spawn back in the game after the credits most the time, you get the feeling there's no more adventure after that. You won't see mario until a new game comes out. the adventure ends here. It doesn't give you the sense of "oh yeah I beat it" it sounds more like "wish it could have lasted longer. Goodbye mario."
