I love these, especially the brick wall. I just don’t have the imagination, then panic when there is so much white space, or I just block colour it and It looks plain. Thank you for sharing. I will save this video 😊
Your work is gorgeous! The birds on branches pic on the other side of the scarecrow picture is particularly striking. Beautiful colour palette and feels like a spring day.
Hi, yes I do. there is a playlist with some in - they are probably different to the ones in that video though! - th-cam.com/play/PLewgurQ60fdi9Wna_4ZRzQN-di0BOCeUe.html
@@RachelHendersonColouring my head is swirling thinking about pages I’ve already colored that might have not turned out as well as I wanted. I’m thinking I can practice backgrounds on them. 🍁🍫🍁
Thank you so much, it is so lovely to hear that you are finding the videos helpful. My aim is to spread the joy of colouring and so it is so lovely to know that it is working.
Hi, sorry for the late response! I use Loxley Spray Fixative which is the only one I have tried. It works well but does smell so much you need to use it outside. I got it from an independent art shop in the UK which has closed down. You can get it on Amazon - amzn.to/3k2dfhe
thanks for this video ! :D I am always afraid that i mess up the background . I actually still have a background which looks horable ...and i really hope i can fix it haha. I am trying to do that background with chalk pastels ... but oh dear. I think coloring pencils are better i guess? Although it seems indeed like a lot of work hihi.
@@RachelHendersonColouring ooh cool.... so you can colour over chalk pastels with pencils. I might give it a try some day. Hope it works. Yeah i guess it will take some time indeed.
@@RachelHendersonColouring :O oooh you can erase it as well !!? :O Wauw ! Thanks so much.. this helps a lot. Now i have a few other options! Thanks again !! :D
Thank you. I do have a few background tutorial videos. Whether I do the background first depends on the picture. I always decide if I am doing one first and then decide on the media I will use (pastels or pencil) and then depending on the intricacy of the picture and my mood, I will then decide whether to do it first or last and sometimes do it as I go along.

Hi Rachel! have you made a video when you color the sky so beautifully with the branches, the one next to the clown? Best regards, Marina 🇸🇪

Beautiful backgrounds! Which workable fixative do you use for your pastels?
Thank you. I use Loxley spray fixative most of the time, but it smells so much it has to be used outside.

Hi Rachel, your pieces are stunning!
May I ask which workable fixative you use please.
Which one d'yu find is the best, and available in England?

@@missstarbuck yes you can, you can also erase pastel with a normal eraser if that helps....Good luck

Backgrounds are elementary at best for me... But yours are inspiring
aww thank you. They take a long time and so sometimes I just do not bother!!!
Your backgrounds are beautiful, BUT this video doesn’t show/teach me how to do this 😒 For example, did you do the backgrounds first?
