Kneadable putty erasers are your friend for lifting pastels off coloured layers. It won’t lift the pencil work beneath. Just dab it. You can shape it to a point if necessary.
The Q-tip is amazing! I've been using that method for 10 years with my pastels. Before becoming a colorist, I was an artist who used chalk pastels the most. Cotton buds, cotton balls, and cheapy eye shadow applicators were my go-to!
I just started coloring in July and everytime I wanna learn a new technique I always check your TH-cam first to see if you've taught it and once again, you have!! You are so talented and I appreciate your tutorials so so much. Thank you. 😊
OH EM GEE - THIS COLOR BOOK IS GORGEOUS!!! ALL of Jane's books & cards are simply stunning!! I WANT THEM ALL NOW - ESPECIALLY THE BIG EYED BEE!! I pulled up several of your tutorials for some quick tips - especially with backgrounds, I didn't expect to have you KNOCK ME OUT with this artist. I am ALWAYS BROKE!! THANKS for enabling me.
Her books are amazing. Unfortunately, she won’t be creating coloring books for much longer. If you have one you love I would snatch it up when you can. I’m not sure if something has changed but when I last spoke to her, this is what she said. Her publisher was a closing down.
You are so welcome! There is another awesome background tutorial coming in our current Color Along. Be on the look out for that one. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I just found you what I would like to know what kind of fixative you use and what is the name of the erase pen I have never seen anything like it. Thank you so much for sharing you talent!😊
Hi great tutorial. When you spray the workable fixative spray on your work throughout the process, do you spray it at the end once finished, and if so, do you use the same spray or something else more permanent? I have just bought some workable spray for my pastels after watching your video.
I think you may be. I haven't had many people say they aren't on Facebook. I have tons of videos for you to watch and learn from even if you're not on Facebook and in my group.
Dear Pamela, there were a very large number of comments about the pastels being tumbled all over the box, a large spread of color dust all over and colors hitting each other and rubbing off on each other. Is there a way to request special packaging from Amazon? The price is good, and the colors look very pretty, but I am afraid of the shipping messing them up.
You mean comments on social media in general or here? I haven’t heard of this. Mine were fine when they arrived. If yours aren’t Amazon has wonderful customer service.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils What fixative do you recommend? And do you use it on the entire page? And after using the fixative, can you still use colored pencils again over it? Sorry for all the questions 😅 I've had soft pastels that I've been wanting to use for my backgrounds so badly but know nothing about fixatives 😔
@@PamelasPassionforPencils Duh, nevermind lol, I should have just watched the whole video before asking 🤣 I am still wondering if I can still use colored pencils on top of the fixative once it completely dries?

Great tip!
I have been trying to figure a way to make the beautiful backgrounds I see, and now I know how to do it through your video. Thank you.
That makes me happy. I’d love to see your background if you’re in my Facebook group and would like to share it with us. 💕

Just ordered these today, love the qtip idea
Thank you so much for this idea. I love blue and yellow together. I also love putting yellow around glowing objects!
Thanks for the tips. I am just starting to use pastels.
Glad it was helpful!

I love this background. I just bought this book & I love it. I bought three of her books. They are very well made. Ty for sharing. ❤️
I just started coloring and I'm enjoying this method
The q tip and make up sponge are a brilliant idea
Thank you. Let me know if you try it. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I like your nice, calm yet upbeat attitude.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils thanks for the info - this is sad news
You don’t need to go buy an exact knife for these. Any sharp edge will work. I’ve used a plastic ruler☺️
I use a cotton ball for larger areas .. Works great ... Same way you used the Qtip ..
So glad you made this video. Exactly what I need right now.
I’m glad you enjoyed it 💕
Never mind my question! I read some other comments! Great video! Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this turned out beautiful I love the yellow 🤗🦋
Than k you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Yellow always makes things look so bright and happy 😊
I have a new technique to add to my coloring pages and now I can go back and color the backgrounds.
I ordered the 48 set. Now I'm learning how to use them.
Waiting for my pastels to arrive!
Have fun with them. They're great!
This looks ab fab 👌❤️🔥. You make it look so easy 🥰💙
Thanks for all your help
Thanks for a great video. I've been looking for 'non-colored pencil' type backgrounds. The chalks give a more 3D effect. Awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
You could wipe color onto your makeup sponge from the pastel instead of shaving.
Love these type videos this page turned out awesome beautiful colors!
Thank you 😊
Great tips - thank you. I have a set of Derwent pastel pencils - they’re easy to use for backgrounds.
Could you do a tutorial on this page ? Can you tell us what colors you used?
I love yellow too ! It’s my favorite color
Just found you and subscribed...thank you for sharing....looking forward to your tutorials:)
Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. There is definitely more to come. Thank you for watching.
Very very very cute!
Fantastic!!
Thanks!
hi,i have a doubt, the colors are like chalks or oil crayon
i want to get one, but i dont know what kind i have to buy
Thanks!! So much for this tutorial video 🧡 I have seen some beautiful backgrounds but not sure which brand or methods I want to try.😊

She is so cute!! 😍 Makes me think daughter nature!! 🌎 That blue worked wonderfully!! 💙 How do oil pastels work?
Thank u! I just learned about pastels and can’t wait to try it. If you do get some on your cloud how do you get it off? With an eraser?
Yes with an eraser
I just found you what I would like to know what kind of fixative you use and what is the name of the erase pen I have never seen anything like it. Thank you so much for sharing you talent!😊
Welcome to my channel. This is probably the eraser pen I used in the video: amzn.to/3ZI0YD5 This is the fixative I use now: amzn.to/3KczS0P

beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
Loved this. I was lookng at getting some pastels and at the ones you were using. Turned out beautifully!!!! Keep it up!!!!
Once when your done with the background Do you spray the whole page with fixative or area i work on ?This is my first time doing this
Is the "workable" fixative applied when you are completed? I use a UV clear coat artist sealer with my Prismacolors when I am completely finished.
Yes, when it’s finished. 😀
Thank you very much for your tips that helps full👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am so glad my video was helpful. Happy Coloring!

When you’re finished, do you use any fixative spray to seal the work? Love hearing your thought process as you create! 🌸🌼🌸🌼
Yes I did use a fixative to set it. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. ♥️
I literally did this with you 😂 thanks so much great video
Glad you enjoyed!
Look at the GUN SHOW !!! I forgot that you are also into exercise and healthy living. I was like, whoa- I gotta exercise more.
Inscribe pastels are the same same box same pastels
Could I use Pastel Pitt from Faber Castell for example? Love your work btw, new sub here :)
Nice to see pastels used. I’ve never used them! Did you use pencils on the rest of the page?
Yes I did
Will the pastels rub off onto the previous page or rub off if you touch it again once applied?
Hi Janet, yes they will. You would need to add a fixative.
