Hey guys sorry I was wrong about the Sugar Cane growing 6X faster, (Didnt realize minecraft fandom was basically Wikipedia) I misread it and it actually is 6X more common to find sugar cane in dessert biomes and 2X in swamps. Sorry about that!
Thank god I read this on time.. I really wanted to build this in my base but because you said that I was already getting ready to move 1500 something blocks everytime i wanted to farm my sugar canes lmao
For those wanting to make the farm more efficient, you should use mud instead of dirt/sand and put hoppers underneath connecting to the middle hopper. This way you don't lose any sugar cane and get the best results. The mud isn't a full block so the items can go through it and into the hopper. It's more expensive, but worth it if you want to collect that extra sugar cane.
@@unknownwolf7958 I was stupid typing the below comment. I was watching several guides. If you have a rail, leave out the water to push things. Reason being that sugar cane above the piston will not get pushed and land on the block it grows on. do this farm, but with the minecart running under the dirt you grow the sugarcane on. and fence it completely in. then the only way to make it more efficient (without being complicated) is to place observers on EVERY 3rd level on sugarcane. so that if ANY grow to 3 high the system gets triggered. Leaving my original here, just so you see what I thought and where I went wrong. "Yes, but since the sugar cane can only land on the block it is growing and a hopper minecraft is able to pick up through a solid block, it would actually just cost more and not be more efficient. that is solid advice when you build a farm which relies on the pistons pushing the sugar cane into a water stream though!"
