When Mary Jo said she longed for order spoke to me. Thats where I am at . Longing to come back to the Catholic Church. But its so difficult because I am the one responsible for leading my family into evangelical church. My wife my children brothers sisters nieces and nephews. Please pray for me
My dear brother in Christ; today, love today, one step at a time. Live out your Catholic Faith authentically and never be afraid to tell the story of what and why you left the Church and with that how merciful and gracious God is to lead you home. God Bless, praying for you.
Pray for you ? Will do . Lead your family to Protestantism ? Me too . In His mercy , He has lead me back to the Church . For my family I'm trying to trust that God works all things to good for those who love Him .
You two are amazing! This cradle Catholic loves listening to these stories about Protestants coming home. I have learned so much from every one of you. Your excitement enhances my excitement about the Catholic Church.
As a cradle catholic i'm amazed & proud for the converts. You are the modern Paul of this generation. God bless always. See you in the Wedding supper of the Lamb in heaven. ❤
Thank you so much for your prayer Mary Jo ❤ I'm converting and I know I've not handled it in the best way with my husband. If anyone reads this and wants to pray for healing for us I would be grateful 🙏🏼
I am in the process of returning to the Church after 20 plus years. I can relate to so much of what you said said. The primary reason is the Holy Eucharist and the Sacraments! Thank you for sharing your experiences!
What a beautiful conversation. Mary Jo articulates so well the challenges we converts grapple with. It’s been almost 30 years since I made the journey. I still speak with an accent sometimes, but still lost in wonder, gobsmacked at being home.
Thank you. This gives me so much hope. I am investigating the Catholic Church for myself but my husband is very antagonist about it, For now, he at least is showing interest in A church - which is new, and I hope will lead eventually to the true church and all of its fullness.
@alwaysathome, 🙏🏻😊 I don’t know how far you are in the process. A couple of wonderful fabulous Catholics and scholars to pull up on TH-cam, is Scott Hahn and Brant Petrie to start. You can learn a lot from them. They have many many many teaching videos . Brent is an awesome scholar, and he teaches all the wonderful Jewish things and how it is tied in to the faith. Scott Hahn was a protestant pastor and the Lord let him to the Eucharist. You may already know of them , I just wanted to let you know if you didn’t. 😀They’re a huge huge help. Also “On the Journey “ with Matt and Ken also you can pull up on TH-cam. There is 150 or so videos that they have - it’s awesome. ❤️🙏🏻 May the Lord bless and keep you! 😀
Normally I am able to be at the recordings live while they are happening. I wasn't at this one, and I'm kinda glad. I would have been sobbing in the background and you probably would have heard it on the recording. I'm only part way through and am completely blown away. WOW! I can't wait to hear the rest. Side note, I do wish I was in town to be able to hang out with these two when they were here. I totally missed out.
Wow I needed this!!!!! I’m in there, I feel without a home now that my eyes were open to the Catholic Church. But every time I don’t understand or “agree” on something I want to run back 😭😭😭😭 I was born catholic but then in my 20s I turned Protestant and after 14 years now GOD is talking Catholic to me. I had an encounter with Mary or it was the Holy Spirit bringing her to my heart, I was sobbing just thinking about her and the scriptures that talked about her rushed in that moment SPECIALY when she went to present JESUS to the temple and the prophet told her heart would be pierced 😭 I feel at war back and forth, scared because I want to be Catholic with my family too not just me. I want them in my boat too. We are a family of six, first generation Protestants, lifelong Catholics in my maternal side of my family, huge Catholics, passionate for CHRIST and Mary. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 GOD IS IN CONTROL AND I PRAY THAT HE LEADS US TO ALL TRUTH❤

Wow this story got me in tears, born Catholic and raised and never felt this way of all the riches gifts that God gift us through Christ I have this special thing I know that Jesus it is in the holy Eucharist he had showed me because I’m like a Thomas character and this month of advent I keep seeking to fulfill the flesh know Jesus and in my heart I don’t need nothing else but this my fight please pray for me indeed to know my vocation ✝️✝️✝️ I do pray most almost everyday the Holy Rosary and definitely will place all these petitions in these messages in Mama Mary’s Hand thanks Keith for these videos not only for the Protestants but the lukewarm Catholic 💔
Fascinating story. Wonder how God felt knowing both sides at once and the outcome? In many ways she still is the pastors wife, just a radically different sort of pastor.
What a great testimony, I love when Prostestan come to our faith. Thank you so much Keith. I love all you do for my faith. i am Catholics for ever and ever.
Wow, Keith. The fruits of the daily rosary are phenomenal. Praise God! The recent guests and your interview questions are so incredible. I cry, laugh, and get chills repeatedly. ❤
This video explains for the first time how confused, disoriented and, I guess, traumatized Protestants feel when they first come to the Catholic Church. I will make a real effort to try to help someone if I notice, the same way I would try to help someone who is lost, a child separated from their parent, or a refugee who doesn't know the language. I didn't realize it was an upsetting experience for people.
You will be doing a great service if you are attentive and sensitive in offering your help. I was a Protestant for 58 years and became Catholic this spring. And it was difficult and still is. The decision to become Catholic was traumatic. For several months I could not sleep and woke up in the middle of the night in anxiety. Because it is not easy to be sure that I am really following Jesus and not that I am wrong and becoming an idolater. And the mass was so strange to me. I was almost desperate because I felt very lonely. Then I realized that during Mass it is intensely me and God. Both the strength and the weakness of Protestantism are in friendly fellowship. After the service you drink coffee and people notice you and try to integrate you, they invite you somewhere. You quickly become a member of a prayer group where you can share what is on your heart. Since I became a Catholic, my relationship with God is incredibly intense. I often have tears in my eyes during mass. The Eucharist is an incredible strength. Etc. But it's a fact that I miss the community of brothers and sisters - feeling like a family.
@davidbroz6755 It's true, those are the differences. I sometimes spontaneously get a tear in my eye during the Eucharistic liturgy also. When that happens, believe me, it's because you are seeing Jesus on the Cross. When I was young we were taught to gaze at the consecrated host when the priest holds it high and says "Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world." We really are seeing HIM and when we shed a tear that is our proof. Go to all the activities in the bulletin. Catholics are a lot of fun outside of mass.
@@lisapolanski9379 Maybe American Catholics are more fun. I live in Prague (Czech Republic). They're not very fun here. Most of them seem lukewarm to me. And there's not much activity here. But I made friends with some Franciscan nuns and they're great. They really love Jesus. But I can't live with them :D
Thank you for this amazing interview. Mary Jo has a gift with words... Her words spoke to my heart. As a lifelong Catholic I think converts are amazing. I'm a cradle Catholic, but I'm also in my own liminal space right now related to vocation and geographical location. Your words were so helpful. The way you described your time of waiting and subtle shifting was just the encouragement I needed to embrace it and not to run in my own direction out of discomfort. Thanks so much.
I was in denial that I was wanting to listen to her story, I don't know why. This story has so many more "points" and quotes from Mary Jo's journey than even Kenny's, and I share his name. Ha. Mary Jo, you are a blessing to society, to your husband, to the Church, to being a human. Human, God, husband, everything else. I never thought of it that way before. We are humans first, as God made us, and Plan B is ugly and should not have been our path, but it is. And Christ and His Church allow Plan B to work, as difficult as it is, in being a fallen human. I absolutely LOVE the aquarium analogy. I was born into a rich aquarium and my wife was not. And even though she did become Catholic, technically, she is that scared fish living behind that rock to afraid to see the rest of the aquarium. Confession is hard when you were taught the faith by a priest who gave it up to marry a woman and dissolve his own beliefs. I pray for my wife everyday to have the scales lifted to see the whole aquarium and the rest of the beautiful journey it could be from growing up a MS Lutheran. So many good points on your journey, thank you for all the talking points. I will have to listen again. God Bless you and Kenny. Have a wonderful ChristMass! Keith, I am trying to find a good time to share a rosary with you and your crew and find the funds to bring you to the Twin Cities for a lecture. Pray about it.
An awesome episode! I have been following Kenny's channel for a while. Now I know his wife is just as on fire and as deep. Thank you, Keith for bringing her to us.
Wonderful and inspiring talk and truly very beautifully heartfelt prayer Mary Jo - Thank you very much . Thank you very very much Keith Great Videos from you always 🌟🙏
I agree - human being first fashioned in God's image and I am in a liminal space right now too so can identify with both her and Kenny and feel driven too to get out of that place. I feel a little bit tired of myself and my current faith dynamic. Mary Jo is brilliant and interesting. Mary Jo and Kenny had compasses pointing due north to Catholicism. I hear her about 'fracture'. It is terrible to have a fracture or fissure in your faith. Welcome home. I need to get a new copy of the Catechism. Thank you, Keith, for introducing all of us to wonderfully inspiring people devoted to Jesus. BTW, the Truman Show horrified me! Wow! Thank you too Keith for your amazing interview skills. Each interview you give is amazing and/or awesome.
God bless you both, your articulation of scripture, Church and history was weaved beautifully to a fabric of many colors and graces. My faith as a Catholic has strengthened with a deeper understanding of the richness of the truth and faith Let's swim in the ocean of mercy.❤
Thank you ever so much to both of you, Mary Jo and Keith, how deep and precious your testimony was, Mary Jo! I realize how brave you, and all the other christians following the same path, needed and still need to be all along while going through the whole process of becoming Catholic! from a cradle Catholic belonging to an ecumenical christian community. May God bless you!
In listening to this, this suddenly popped into my mind: “The Bible alone because you are alone with your Bible.” It was never supposed to be that way.
Jesus said: "For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 14:11 James 3:13: “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” The true wisdom is often accompanied by a humble attitude, recognizing our limitations and dependence on God. Humility allows us to learn, grow, and understand more deeply. “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”Proverbs 11:2 One Jesus. One Universal Church. One Christianity In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF OUR CATHOLIC CHURCH HE SAID Mathew 10:37 - "he who loves father and mother more than Me is not worthy of Me and he who loves son and daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me". Mathew 10:38 - "and he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me" LUKE 8:18 - "TAKE HEED THEN HOW YOU HEAR; FOR TO HIM WHO HAS WILL MORE BE GIVEN AND FROM HIM WHO HAS NOT, EVEN WHAT HE THINKS THAT HE HAS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY". MATHEW 11:15 - "HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR LET HIM HEAR".
@ my husband is a follower of Jesus and I can say He loves OUR LORD more than anything in this world. He doesn’t know a thing about Catholics except they “worship Mary” God has done great things in our marriage, through prayer He has kept us together, because our marriage had all the ingredients for a divorce. BUT GOD 🙏🏻 always comes through. Anyways, why now? You know, it’s a hard walk that I’ll have to take. I was alone being a Protestant and now that he is with us in the same church, GOD calls me to a different church, back to Catholicism ⛪️
First, you pray ceaselessly for him - before the Blessed Sacrament when possible. The Holy Spirit converts on His own time and using His inimitable methods.
The Catholic Church is really and truly God's Kingdom on earth. Catholics just receive whatever the Church gives, just like paradise. But Protestants came in like the serpent and told them you need to have the knowledge of what is good and evil, what is right and wrong. You need to be like God. What the serpent actually meant is you need to be like me. Then, fallen away Catholics who did not have great faith became unfaithful to Christ's Church, converted and followed where the serpent or the Protestants lead them. Weak Catholics really do become Protestants.
What the Catholics try to live by is based from Jesus command Himself. Spoken directly from Jesus lips . The Apostles are the most reliable source of information passed on through the Sacrament of Holy Orders in the Catholic Church. “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”” Matthew 22:36-40 NIV “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Matthew 7:21, 23 NIV
A Protestant response. There is absolutely no way to be only partly connected to Christ (ie Roman Catholics are fully connected to Christ while other Christians are only partially connected). That is pure sectarianism which is a gross error if not downright sin. There is no way Protestantism ever taught that authority resides only with the individual believer or that interpretation is strictly a private matter. That is utter falsehood.
Some Protestantism explained, to clear up what is, perhaps an unintentional utter falsehood on your part. Charles Hodge in Systematic Theology: “What Protestants deny on this subject is, that Christ has appointed any officer, or class of officers, in his Church to whose interpretation of the Scriptures the people are bound to submit as of final authority. What they affirm is that He has made it obligatory upon every man to search the Scriptures for himself and determine on *his own discretion* what they require him to believe and to do.” Charles Hodge in Systematic Theology: “Protestants hold that the Bible, being addressed to the people, is sufficiently perspicuous to be understood by them, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit; and that they are entitled and bound to search the Scripture and to *judge for themselves* what is its true meaning.” Robert Vaughan in The Life and Opinions of John Wycliffe: “Indeed, the whole of the reformer’s conduct with regard to the papal power resulted from his conviction as to the sufficiency of the sacred scriptures, and as to the *right of private judgment*.” John Wesley in The Catholic Spirit: “The *right of private judgment* is the pillar upon which the whole Reformation stands.” James Buchanan in Justification: “The Word of God, and the interpretation of Scripture must never be placed under the intolerable servitude of the ‘consent of the Fathers.’ We use the writings of Augustine and Chrysostom, just as we use the writings of Luther and Calvin, as helps to the correct interpretation of Scripture; and in doing so, we exercise the *sacred right of private judgment*, subject only to the authority of God speaking in His Word.” A.H. Strong in Systematic Theology: “In discovering the will of Christ from the Scriptures, each member has *the right of private judgment*, being directly responsible to Christ for his use of the means of knowledge, and for his obedience to Christ’s commands when these are known.” Article 23, 35 Articles of the Reformed Episcopal Church in America (1875): “General Councils (forasmuch as they be an assembly of men, whereof all be not governed with the Spirit and Word of God) may err, and sometimes have erred, not only in worldly matters, but also in things pertaining to God. Wherefore things ordained by them as necessary to salvation are not binding, as such, on a Christian man’s conscience unless it may be proved that they be taken out of Holy Scripture. No law or authority can override individual responsibility, and therefore the right of private judgment. For *the individual Christian*, as Christ distinctly affirms, is to be judged by the Word. The only rule of faith is God’s Word written.”
Protestants always rejects and protest against the words and the church of Christ because they want to build their own churches and with their own authority they search the scriptures from the words of God itself and they dare challenge against His words and His church. HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT YOU HAVE FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE WHEN YOU REJECT HIS WORDS AND HIS CHURCH???? THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BUILDING THAT ANY MEN CAN BUILD THEIR OWN CHURCHES. LUKE 9:25 - "FOR WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN IF HE GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSES OR FORFEITS HIMSELF". LUKE 19:26-"BUT AS FOR THESE ENEMIES OF MINE WHO DID NOT WANT ME TO REIGN OVER THEM BRING THEM HERE AND SLAY THEM BEFORE ME" MATHEW 7:21 - "NOT EVERY ONE WHO SAYS TO ME LORD LORD SHALL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN" NO ONE CAN BUILD THEIR OWN CHURCHES, ONLY CHRIST, HE BUILD WITH THE AUTHORITY OF HIS HEAVENLY FATHER. THE CHURCH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST HE IS THE LIVING BREAD. AND JESUS SAID IN MATHEW 15:13-14 - "EVERY PLANT WHICH MY HEAVENLY FATHER HAS NOT PLANTED WILL BE ROOTED UP. LET THEM ALONE; THEY ARE BLIND GUIDES. IF A BLIND MAN LEADS A BLIND MAN, BOTH WILL FALL INTO A PIT". JOHN 6:51 - "I AM THE LIVING BREAD WHICH CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, IF ANY ONE EATS OF THIS BREAD HE WILL LIVE FOREVER AND THE BREAD WHICH I SHALL GIVE FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD IS MY FLESH". JOHN 6:64 - "BUT THERE ARE SOME OF YOU THAT DID NOT BELIEVE. FOR JESUS KNEW FROM THE FIRST WHO THOSE WERE THAT NOT BELIEVE AND WHO IT WAS THAT BETRAY HIM". JOHN 10:25-26 - "I TOLD YOU AND YOU DO NOT BELIEVE. THE WORKS THAT DO IN MY FATHER'S NAME THEY BEAR WITNESS TO ME; BUT YOU DO NOT BELIEVE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT BELONG TO MY SHEEP". JOHN 12:48-49-50 - "HE WHO REJECTS ME AND DOES NOT RECEIVE MY SAYINGS HAS A JUDGE; THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WILL BE HIS JUDGE ON THE LAST DAY. FOR I HAVE NOT SPOKEN ON MY OWN AUTHORITY; MY FATHER WHO HAS SENT ME HAS HIMSELF GIVEN ME COMMANDMENT WHAT TO SAY AND WHAT TO SPEAK. SAND I KNOW THAT HIS COMMANDMENT IS ETERNAL LIFE. WHAT I SAY, THEREFORE, I SAY AS THE FATHER HAS BIDDEN ME".
Ultimately it does come down to individual belief and interpretation of the individual because they're given many options and it's up to them to decide what is true. A good example of this is baptism.

Wow, that final prayer was really lovely, thanks Keith for your awesome podcast and the great guest Mary Jo ❤️
Good morning Crew
An awesome episode! I have been following Kenny's channel for a while. Now I know his wife is just as on fire and as deep. Thank you, Keith for bringing her to us.
Superb!
Thank you both very much. Wonderful. You and all your dear ones are in my prayers. From Ireland 🇮🇪 ♥ ☘ 🙏 🕊😇
Wonderful and inspiring talk and truly very beautifully heartfelt prayer Mary Jo - Thank you very much .
Thank you very very much Keith
Great Videos from you always 🌟🙏
This was such a great interview! I resonated with her story so much! Thank God for his love for us and bringing our spouses along! ❤️
God bless you !!
Beautiful testimony
Thank you for sharing these beautiful people with us! I’m enjoying her new channel, Oremus. Can’t wait for more prayers on her channel.
Wonderful
God bless you both, your articulation of scripture, Church and history was weaved beautifully to a fabric of many colors and graces. My faith as a Catholic has strengthened with a deeper understanding of the richness of the truth and faith
Let's swim in the ocean of mercy.❤
Your a good man Keith 💪
THANKS BE TO GOD 🙏
So True, Good and Beautiful. Thanks
If the Eucharist is all I have then what I have is enough.
"If the Eucharist is only a symbol, to hell with it" - Catholic author and essayist Flannery O'Connor
Great Story God Bless You Both
Martin Luther REALLY did SO MUCH damage to billions of Christians 😭
The Church of England did too.
😢
I like the way you say it. He misled many believers.
This was a really good one, Keith!
Thanks!
In listening to this, this suddenly popped into my mind:
“The Bible alone because you are alone with your Bible.”
It was never supposed to be that way.
💯
Amazing prayer. Thanks Mary Jo.
Great video!
….Bravo!
Catholic pray is so humble where protestants pray is like God is deaf they have to throw tantrums for God to hear
When Jesus asked Peter to walk on the water, He was actually teaching Peter Catholicism! 😂
He taught us NEVER to take our eyes off of Christ.
@@po18guy-s4s Exactly.
Welcome ho,e❤❤❤❤
I take away the statement about living in tension and accepting that it is ok to live like that, because Jesus is working in you all the while.
🙏
🥰💞💗
🙏💞🌏🙏

Jesus said: "For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 14:11
James 3:13: “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”
The true wisdom is often accompanied by a humble attitude, recognizing our limitations and dependence on God. Humility allows us to learn, grow, and understand more deeply.
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”Proverbs 11:2
One Jesus. One Universal Church. One Christianity
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
💯
How can I go back and see who I left behind if my husband does not want anything to do with Catholicism.??
Go back for yourself if that’s what your called to do .
CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF OUR CATHOLIC CHURCH HE SAID
Mathew 10:37 - "he who loves father and mother more than Me is not worthy of Me and he who loves son and daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me".
Mathew 10:38 - "and he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me"
LUKE 8:18 - "TAKE HEED THEN HOW YOU HEAR; FOR TO HIM WHO HAS WILL MORE BE GIVEN AND FROM HIM WHO HAS NOT, EVEN WHAT HE THINKS THAT HE HAS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY".
MATHEW 11:15 - "HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR LET HIM HEAR".
@ my husband is a follower of Jesus and I can say He loves OUR LORD more than anything in this world. He doesn’t know a thing about Catholics except they “worship Mary”
God has done great things in our marriage, through prayer He has kept us together, because our marriage had all the ingredients for a divorce.
@@po18guy-s4s thanks 🙏🏻
The Catholic Church is really and truly God's Kingdom on earth. Catholics just receive whatever the Church gives, just like paradise. But Protestants came in like the serpent and told them you need to have the knowledge of what is good and evil, what is right and wrong. You need to be like God. What the serpent actually meant is you need to be like me. Then, fallen away Catholics who did not have great faith became unfaithful to Christ's Church, converted and followed where the serpent or the Protestants lead them. Weak Catholics really do become Protestants.
Yet here we’re seeing the Church, the Body of Christ, winning converts back into the true faith. God triumphs.
@MarlaTanuan converts are coming in droves. Strong Protestants become Catholic.
Surrender to God is what Jesus Christ did. He is the Way the Truth and Life.
@Keithnester, react to Mike gendron
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.””
Matthew 22:36-40 NIV
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
Matthew 7:21, 23 NIV

A Protestant response. There is absolutely no way to be only partly connected to Christ (ie Roman Catholics are fully connected to Christ while other Christians are only partially connected). That is pure sectarianism which is a gross error if not downright sin. There is no way Protestantism ever taught that authority resides only with the individual believer or that interpretation is strictly a private matter. That is utter falsehood.
Some Protestantism explained, to clear up what is, perhaps an unintentional utter falsehood on your part.
Charles Hodge in Systematic Theology:
“What Protestants deny on this subject is, that Christ has appointed any officer, or class of officers, in his Church to whose interpretation of the Scriptures the people are bound to submit as of final authority. What they affirm is that He has made it obligatory upon every man to search the Scriptures for himself and determine on *his own discretion* what they require him to believe and to do.”
Charles Hodge in Systematic Theology:
“Protestants hold that the Bible, being addressed to the people, is sufficiently perspicuous to be understood by them, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit; and that they are entitled and bound to search the Scripture and to *judge for themselves* what is its true meaning.”
Robert Vaughan in The Life and Opinions of John Wycliffe:
“Indeed, the whole of the reformer’s conduct with regard to the papal power resulted from his conviction as to the sufficiency of the sacred scriptures, and as to the *right of private judgment*.”
John Wesley in The Catholic Spirit:
“The *right of private judgment* is the pillar upon which the whole Reformation stands.”
James Buchanan in Justification:
“The Word of God, and the interpretation of Scripture must never be placed under the intolerable servitude of the ‘consent of the Fathers.’ We use the writings of Augustine and Chrysostom, just as we use the writings of Luther and Calvin, as helps to the correct interpretation of Scripture; and in doing so, we exercise the *sacred right of private judgment*, subject only to the authority of God speaking in His Word.”
A.H. Strong in Systematic Theology:
“In discovering the will of Christ from the Scriptures, each member has *the right of private judgment*, being directly responsible to Christ for his use of the means of knowledge, and for his obedience to Christ’s commands when these are known.”
Article 23, 35 Articles of the Reformed Episcopal Church in America (1875):
“General Councils (forasmuch as they be an assembly of men, whereof all be not governed with the Spirit and Word of God) may err, and sometimes have erred, not only in worldly matters, but also in things pertaining to God.
@paulsmallwood1484 Who does Protestantism teach that authority resides with?
@ depends. What kind of authority are you referring to?
LUKE 19:26-"BUT AS FOR THESE ENEMIES OF MINE WHO DID NOT WANT ME TO REIGN OVER THEM BRING THEM HERE AND SLAY THEM BEFORE ME"
MATHEW 7:21 - "NOT EVERY ONE WHO SAYS TO ME LORD LORD SHALL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN"
NO ONE CAN BUILD THEIR OWN CHURCHES, ONLY CHRIST, HE BUILD WITH THE AUTHORITY OF HIS HEAVENLY FATHER. THE CHURCH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST HE IS THE LIVING BREAD.
AND JESUS SAID IN
MATHEW 15:13-14 - "EVERY PLANT WHICH MY HEAVENLY FATHER HAS NOT PLANTED WILL BE ROOTED UP.
