As a Senator’s fan, I just want a distraction free season. No gambling suspensions, no losing first rounders, no Uber rides, no Canadian Hockey scandal, just let the team focus on playing hockey. My expectations are still tempered though. They are in an extremely tough division with other teams on the rise and they’re all not going to make it. As long as they are still competing for a spot in March, I’ll be happy with the season.

As a leafs fan watching them in the Preseason I think they make it the sens seme different they played like they were ready for the postseason and having #35 between the pipes just proved what I was saying 2 seasons ago
Yeah I mean how many games did they have both Norris and Pinto on the ice for 6? Pinto came back and it was like a handful of games later Norris was done for the season. If you can get both those guys on the ice for a majority of the games it'll go a long ways towards making a playoff push.

I don’t think Norris needs to be healthy for this team to compete. It will definitely make it easier but both Pinto and Grieg last year showed they can play middle six minutes. Chabot on the other hand. The team no longer has the depth on the left side to cover his constant injuries. He needs to stay healthy and in the top 4.
Atlantic is hard. Detroit, Buffalo and Habs got better. (And sens) Then there's the obvious ones with the Bruins, Panthers, Bolts and Leafs. It's gonna be a really fun playoff race to watch

Probably the toughest division to try to make playoffs & they were better than their record last year. A 1-14-1 on the road against the Western Conference was what killed them. All of the changes are geared towards fixing that.

The one strength this Ottawa team has no one talks nearly enough about is their PK, it's elite. They've been training hard on this courtesy of Brady Tkachuk who's been gifting them more penalties per season than any other top 6 winger in the league since 2018. Relentless training. And he ramps it up each year too. What a teammate.

Tampa's position has looked shaky the last 2 seasons. Also Boston no longer has their tandem of aces in goal so their regular season performance may be less stable. The age factor will inevitably have the bottom 4 leapfrog the others and it will happen suddenly.

I'm a Sens fan and I don't think we make it... Ullmark is huge but Chabot and Norris not playing to thei contracts is killing us. The division is just too strong to not have these two players beeing elite. If they can be what they used to be (and I highly doubt it) and Ully is healthy then yes, I think they can make it but only then.

And here’s another problem…Ottawa isn’t even the best team out of that group. The only way the Sens get in is if a team just has a disaster of a season. And even IF that happens, Ottawa has to take advantage of the opportunity.
I don't think BOS, FLA, TB, and TOR have to have a disaster season for it to happen. Sometimes shifts in divisions aren't as pronounced. Let's say 1 or 2 of those squads has a just ok season and Ottawa ends up with around 45 wins. That would be enough.

Ottawa's defense was fine, they didn't allow particularly more high danger chances than most other playof contending teams. They were let down by a frankly embarrasing goaltending performance. Korpi and Forsberg combined to let in the first or second shot in 20% of games. Korpi's save percentage on all danger level chances was among the league worst, and by far the worst among first stringers. That doesn't happen just because of poor defense.
