The feeling, the touch, the sound, even the suit, it's as Chet as you can get. I know what I'm talking about, I've been playing Chet since first time I saw him in Njaardhallen, Oslo, on April 15th. 1964. I know a good guitarpicker when I see one. This is the upper echelon as far as I'm concerned. A Country Gentleman. :)
Sir, I do own a Marshall but I grew up listening to the Strings-a-Long album on my parent's stero. These were remake of popular songs of the time like Wheels, Walk Don't Run, Perfidia. Listening to you play reminds me of this wonderful era of my youth. Strings-a-Long were my first guitar heroes and still hae a very special place in my heart to this day. You master the guitar like a pro...Thank you so much sir for all these beautiful moments and for sharing your passion...
Hi Bill, thanks for the kind comments! I'm a Brit living in the beautiful North West of England. Been into Chet for a good while now having been introduced to him and Jerry when I was at college a few years ago. I especially love Chet's early stuff - you can't beat it.
Matt, really great picking. I've always liked Chet's version of this song. I especially like the version he does with the Carter Family on the Grand Ole Opry. I've only seen a few old film clips of it and I wish it could see the entire performance.
Matt Cowe I have been practising Chet's style for years and now I'm looking at learning these songs and you've done fantastic covers of them! I'm watching and learning from your videos! you show how to get that chet sound and feel very well, you give your guitar justice. sit back, smile, and realise, you're a guitar man! haha hopefully I can be too instead of raping the earth mining
Hilarious !! I once let someone play my guitar who was quite better than me and when he handed it back I looked in the center hole and shook the guitar around saying How did that Get In THERE!!!
Hi Dwayne, thanks for the kind comments, I don't know about 100% accurate! You might find a tab for this at Jack Baker's excellent site - see description (Sometimes the tabs are unavailable though), but give it a try.
Hi Matt, you do masterful work on this song. As close to 100% accurate and flawless playing i will ever hear. Excellent tone as well, i might add. I own a Gretsch 6122- 1959 model country gentleman. Although i know how to play this song (in my own verison) , my next challenge is to learn it in this style. Any suggestions where i could obtain some guitar tabs for chets version? If you know of any, please let me know,...thanks!!
Hello there Matt,,I sure like your picking,,mighty fine,,,where you be from ? ,,I will watch all your tunes tonight, have a good day....you are playing my kind of music....KyThumb.....Bill
Hey Matt! Love this tune, and your rendition! Can you please let me know if there's any special tuning for it or is it standard? Also, do you have any tab reference? I'd love to learn this.
@@LarryTheRoleplayerTM By FAR the best way to learn, and crucially, you have the video. Ear training is massively important for any musician. Back in the day, when learning songs for my band, all I had was a cassette or record.
well im gonna stick to learning the simple chords way cuz wow your to good bud lol and plus your playing it exactly need like classical lessons rock and metal and country and finger pickin to play what your doing lol wow man awsome dude thats amazing specially that roll you do up the neck !!
Aside from some of the minor embellishments, I would have thought this was an overdub! Very, very nice, clean work. Now, how do I get the .tef file to open correctly from the tab you have posted at your website? I've wanted to learn this for a long time, now. Thanks!

Talk about keeping ‘pure Chet’ alive!! 😊

Absolutely FANTASTIC Sir !!!
If I practiced just that one song for 153 years I would never be able to match that.
Matt, I was very surprised to see someone who could come so close to Chet Atkins playing..what a great pleasure. Keep it up.
Excellent!
Keep posting these great instrumentals.
You are encouraging me to pick up my Taylor and play again.

That Gretsch Chet Atkins Nashville sounds fabulous. Great playing too.
I hope you're playing that stuff live out in public once in a while, because that's the kind of playing the public should hear.
Great job! Lovely version of a great tune.
You play great guitar. I want to learn this one on the fiddle. I may never live that long. Live long and prosper.
