  • After all the work I completed recently on the layout I'm taking a short break and thought you might be interested in my other project. Its a 1975 Ford Granada Coupe that I bought in January this year. I hope to fully restore it and will keep you updated on the progress over the coming months.

    Those Grenada's, both the first and second generation, drove fantastic. They were very very very comfortable! But after a couple of years the comfortable suspension got help from the fading body...... Not many to survive. Good luck with the restauration!

      Thanks. I drove a granada 2.8 auto last year for about 40 miles. It drove just as well as the modern stuff even though it was made in 1980!

    Hi. Must be something about cars and model railways going well together. I have a 1975 Chrysler Centura restoration on the go (similar to the UK Chrysler 180), and a 1977 Mercedes 280SE also in the garage, slowly rebuilding the motor. Sadly the business of earning a living gets in the way of all this fun! Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers, Angus.

    LH Drive cars are great to drive in uk. Makes the car seem that bit more special. 2.3 V6 is a good little motor I had one in a 'T' Reg Cortina 2.3S. Looking forward to the progress. Lucky to have a place to do all that work in.

    A rare beast indeed. Looking forward to seeing this progress. I had a few 'Grannies' myself all Mk2s though but they a drive beautifully and handle surprisingly well for such a big car. Makes a change to see one being restored as most ended up on the banger track. 'Retired' a few myself lol.

      I'm working on a Capri 1600LS at the moment and I'm making a vid on that. Will post a link when finished. That capri in the background has just started the metalwork stage. Theres a lot wrong with it and I expect it will be quite some time before it leaves the workshop.

    Always interesting watching what look like cars that are well past their sell by date being restored to their former glory. Watching CAR S.O.S it amazed me what can be done, even when the body is in a really shocking state. Looking forward to seeing this project progress.

    My Father whilst working for Ford's in the 1970's had these as a company car, which got changed every six months. Two were coupes, 3 litre ghia's of course one a light metallic green the other red. Both had the earlier colour coded wheel trims. Numerous saloons followed too and the odd capri I think.

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi rich nice little video of a great car I drove a normal granada gear for three years one of ford's best I was a ford registered technician at a ford main dealer as I remember this model had the fewest mods and recall of all ford's other models

      will you be converting her to right hand drive or leaving her factory?
      stunning motor, can't wait to see her done.
      sod the railway mate, let's have more on the Granny please

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be keeping it factory spec. Converting it would be very difficult as the the LHD and RHD bulkheads are very different from each other. I've driven a few LHD cars in the UK and its not really much different to RHD. You just have to be careful at some junctions and the odd narrow street.

    • @JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller
      @JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EverardJunction great stuff.
      really want to see more on this car. great to see another going back on the road and hopefully one day see her out on the road or at a show.
      gotta love a classic ford. that said, I use mine as a daily driver, what's the plan for this one mate? Daily drive or Sunday show car?

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I will probably show it but my main plan is for an everyday driver when the weather is good. It will be hidden away in the winter months. I've driven both the mk1 and mk2 and the enjoyment comes from the driving. They cruse very well and the engines are very smooth despite the age.

    • @JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller
      @JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EverardJunction excellent. look forward to seeing her back on the road soon.

    • @GrahamFoulston
      @GrahamFoulston 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent, I shall look forward to that. Can you get replacement panels for this OK? ............Graham

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Replacement panels are very hard to find. The best option is new old stock ford panels which go for crazy money these days. Luckily for me my car came with a load of these panels. I've got front & rear valence, sills, wings, inner wings, arch repairs and various other bits.

    • @GrahamFoulston
      @GrahamFoulston 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought that the panels were as rare as hens teeth by now so you were really lucky to have the vast majority of the major ones come with the car, that will make life a lot easier for you but not taking away the difficulty of getting this car back up to scratch again but what a great car this will look when complete, well done so far buddy. ...........Graham
