I feel like FPGA vs Emulation accuracy is MASSIVELY overstated. I have asked multiple people, and looked online, but I have yet to see a point where the newest, most accurate emulators fall behind something like a Analogue Pocket.
A emulator can never be perfectly accurate no matter how good the PC or emulator. This is for a simple reason, old consoles have multiple chips doing things in parallel, while emulators work in sequence not in parallel. Throw enough cores and speed at it and it will seem like the original but there will always be differences in timing to the original machines. The real question is is this difference worth it, and for most people thats most likely a no.
