this makes me feel better about my new purchase. 2012 cat m8 with 8200 miles on it! got it for the right price, guy said he went thru the engine 2000 miles ago and the chaincase and clutches 300 miles ago. sled ran good, everything worked, not very much broken. so now im doing a bunch of research to find out what i need to do to hone this sled in

We have a 2012 with 10,000 km on it. Same problems as you with the clutch so just changed to the CVTech. Geared it down a bit. Just put in Weisco pistons for piece of mind as everyone was telling me stock pistons only last 7500 kms. After taking the engine apart there was nothing wrong with the stock pistons. It's getting pretty beat up but still running strong
I currently have a 2017 XF8000 153", best sled I've ever owned. For the terrain I ride, I should probably have an M8000, but I still want to be able to ride trails every now and again. My neighbour has a 2012 M8000 with a big turbo on it. 3 weeks ago he got a bunch of stuff installed and got it up to 310 horsepower from 270. Then a week later the motor literally ripped itself in half. Turns out 16 pounds of boost on a stock bottom end at sea level doesn't end well
Hi nice video 😎 I have mountain Cat 2018 162/3". Got 8500 km on it 💪 right after 7600km the sprocket on starter failed. My bad there.. did not know it needed cleaning, dirt was the reason.... Hit rock this weekend in the Alps and destroyed the track. Just cleaned and added fluids on it and never fails 😸

yeah, I tried the new stuff. I had an 2020 alpha but the engine blew up at 200km.. I know I was very unlucky, but im going to look for an older cat in good condition
My old 2013 M8000 has 12.000km (8000miles) on it , everything stock in engine, primary cluch nr 2 , stock Un touched fox float 2 , had to replace one chain tensioner becorse i hit a rock that broke the chaincase housing other then that a solid machine and it Will last alot more
My buddy had a 2.6" power claw on his 14 with a boondocker. It trenched and was stuck all the time. He stabbed it because his rail caps fell off. Replaced with an epic 280, 2.8" track with rail ends and anti-stab. Thing won't get stuck now. Doesn't trench, just grabs and goes. He couldn't believe how much better the 280 performs, and even if it needs replaced every 2-3000 miles it costs a little over half of the power claw.
My 17 rolled over 6000 today so far the stators seem to be an issue i have a bad connection somewhere in my secondary circuit. Sled is awesome and cant beat the reliability! Probably going to rebuild the top end preventively this summer!
That's exactly what I'm doin. Just giving the weight a smack so that the clutch can open up again. The weight was wedged against the roller against the spider on that one.
Appreciate the vid.. love my 17 cat..reliability counts.. the folks in my riding group are all on polaris and one doo and mine seems to be the reliable beast of the group despite its handling quirks.. my summer upgrades will include some mohawks and a skid rebuild.. should I plan anything else?
