I couldn't agree more, I used to chime all the Christmas carols on the carillon at church and I loved it, I felt so blessed, my ringing days are over but the memories will never fade. ⛪.
I grew up in a small village on the Hudson River hearing church bells chime every hour, and mid day they'd play a longer song. Also the freight trains echoing through the valley. I miss the sounds of that little town.
It's a chime, a carillon needs 23+ bells but they're essentially the same thing! Sorry to be that "um actually" guy on the internet, just one of the very few things I have niche knowledge about bc I used to play and I'm excited to share it!
@@Andelure please, be this "um, actually" guy. I'm the one myself, and I like when people do add some explanation within conversations. So, "acktchually", you probably have a point there.
I grew up surrounded by 5 churches. One played several hymns at noon and six o'clock daily. The rest timed their bells so they never interfered with each other. It was so lovely and peaceful.
This is so damn cool. I love bells I wish we had more of this kind of stuff happening still today. It’s such a nice way to involve the whole community. ❤
I used to ring loads of Christmas carols and hymns on a carillon in Hartlepool at Stranton church, happy days, I would have played fight the good fight or abide with me and another one I would have loved to play at weddings what's the theme to Step toe and son if if the bride came in a horse and carriage but the victor would never let me do it, can't think why, happy days. 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
I lived under a bell tower for ten years and never did they play beautiful music like that! It would have been so much less annoying if they had! Thank you for sharing how it’s done!❤
Honestly, this was just beautiful. Thank you for posting this and the other videos you've posted years ago that this video let me find as well. Please consider posting more if you get the opportunity.
Crap! I forgot what this instrument is called and now it’s bugging me! One of the most impressive musical instruments in existence in my opinion right up there with those giant pipe organs. To be clear, it’s not just “bells”. Edit: Found it! It’s called a carillon!
@@Joeigraph are you sure it doesn’t qualify as a carillon? I would think it just has to be playable as an instrument from a central control like the video shows. I’m only guessing intuitively, so obviously I could be wrong.
I love how you can see the lower notes are a lot heavier.
Not just by his visible effort, the wood is even more polished from the extra friction.
He really had to work 'em.

This is the only way I imagine such an instrument could be played: a harried looking man in an overcoat frantically pushing down on the levers.

"I blame my stumpy fingers"
Luckily this song is mostly stepwise (the notes of the melody are mostly right next to each other).
Imagine you're walking down the street at night, it's christmas time and this rings out. Absolutely beautiful
Kind of the feel of the Polar Express.
Mi-am imaginat😊
The major part of the people would think that's an electronic sound.
😊 Agreed. Beautiful and touches the heart

My grandfather played bells just like that for 30 plus years in Durham, North Carolina USA at his church. Great memories!
I can hardly wait to hear the bells ringing with you brother
WOW!
The whiplash that comes from seeing the word Durham next to the words North Carolina is immense
Was that at Duke?
@bradleycarson8801 no, Duke Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown Durham NC is where my grandfather played the bells each week.
Whew. Talk about performance anxiety! I'd probably muff the first note.
I know! I couldn’t imaging making a mistake for the whole neighborhood to hear 😅
No risk - No Fun 🤟😜👍

He looks so happy with himself at the end! What a heartwarming way to hear this song, very good!
Oh THAT IS AWESOME, I don't think I've ever seen somebody play a tune on church bells before!!!
And yes, the whole assembly is basically a huge yet underrated type of musical instrument called carillon.

and right you are - this is also different, since those are the "normal" big church bells...
The few times I stopped and stared at the awesomeness of the world have been with church bells playing music. Thank you for sharing!
That humongous smile at the end was the best part.😁👍 Excellent job good Sir.
The smile at the end is a testament to how enjoyable that was.
Nothing more beautiful than hearing church bells on a freezing cold night in December playing Christmas hymns

Fantastic. Thank you. Such a wonderful sound.
Those bells are the only thing that reminds me of my childhood, Nostrand Ave church in Brooklyn, New York.
I never knew the sound wasn't just automatic. Blessings on your hard work.
If it was automatic, it would be in time. 😐
for sure - so it's my human touch ;)
This came up on auto play while I was in the kitchen... so beautiful and it made me cry thinking about our awesome Savior, Jesus Christ.
You can see how the left side is way heavier
Are you the person who narrates tiktoks?
Left side= lower notes. Lower notes= larger bells. Larger bells= heavy.
😂😂😂
Lado izquierdo = notas inferiores. Notas mas bajas = campanas mas grandes. Campanas mas grandes = pesadas.
Absolutely wonderful! Never stop.
Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, The First Noel!
