For those wondering, the only update on Sac State arena project at The WELL is here: thewellatsacstate.com/news/article/event-center-construction The Hornets are at The Nest in 2024-2025, and there hasn't been much in the way of renderings for the new projects. But if students are being inconvenienced by construction, the project is most likely a go.
Coming back to this video: The schedule release for 2024-25 season makes zero mention of this Well plan, none of the construction companies have released updates, heck even the official schedule on the Sac State athletics website still says The Nest on all home games. What is really going on??
Work on the new venue will be starting soon. Or at least that is the plan. Here is the recent update I found: thewellatsacstate.com/news/article/event-center-construction
atp just move the basketball teams to the golden 1 center like seattle university playing at the climate pledge arena or san francisco playing at the chase center
You have to do an update on this video! Volleyball team has started, and they are still playing in the old gym! Basketball teams announced their schedules and they are also playing in the old gym! so whatever happened to this project?

Wait, can we talk more about that full-court buzzer-beater shot??? Did it count?? And, they really played intramural flag football indoors at the Well?? Ouch! I've been to the Well as I did an event there when I had my corporate events business. Nice building, but yeah, over the Nest?? They have to have further plans beyond what is being reported.
So Sac St is just getting what UC Riverside has, a space to host basketball games in the student rec center! What gets me is that in actual arena was supposed to be built when they built the Well. The president at the time came up with the fairytale, and use the money to tear down the old football field house, and build the current field house. That allowed. sac st to host many track and field events. The students have been paying fees to pay back the loan to build the Well since 2004 or 05. If you figure a 30 year loan, they have roughly 10 years until the loan for the Well Is paid off. Maybe then, they can use the fees, that are still going to be paid by the students, to finance the building of an actual arena! I understand that the Kings owner is not very popular, they could get him $50 million to build an arena on campus, it might help with his image and popularity.
I doubt he would do that, if anything he would probably have them play in the G1C and only use the lower bowl seats. Not only that they can utilize public transit that way the city makes some money to
@@thetouchback Thanks for replying back about that. I was almost certain the change to D1 was during or close to the hiring of Don Newman. I remember getting into a disagreement with an alumnus about the seating capacity of the Sac State arena, and when the beginning of the basketball program moved to D1. The guy didn't believe me that Sac State has one of the lowest seating capacity venues in Division 1. I'm glad I was right on both accounts.
The 24-25 season has started. But the women’s volleyball team is still playing at The Nest! A google search shows stories from Oct and November of 2023, but no follow up stories about when/if construction started to build seats in the The Well. The women’s basketball team released their schedule and they will play all their home games at The Nest! Do you have a follow up?
Work on the new venue will be starting soon. This season will be their last in The Nest. Here is the recent update I found: thewellatsacstate.com/news/article/event-center-construction

When did Sacramento State women's/and men's basketball teams go into Division 1?
Sac State went DI in 1991-92. They played their first few seasons as an independent before joining the Big Sky in 1996.

That first decade of DI Sac State basketball could be one of the most depressing runs in college basketball history.
