Shame about the VR removal, I’m just glad I got to experience it, I personally thought it was amazing, although I did have to hold it firmly on my face for the full effect. Even though space is a vacuum with no actual air, the cool wind on your face seriously felt like you was gliding through far afield planets. Went in the Galactica store on October 12 2019...sells vr headsets despite it not being a vr ride anymore (I didn’t get one though. I got a Nemesis monster keychain)
I had a copy of the air soundtrack somewhere back in the day. There's actually a guy who used to write quite of lot of themes for rollercoasters and themeparks. Managed to track him down one day.
Air was my first ever rollercoaster I’ve ever been on. (Just recently) I remember begging my friend to not go on it and began walking away from the entrance of the ride. Long story short, when i was climbing up the lift hill i was suddenly so happy.
Alton Towers seems like a fun place to visit, and maybe cheaper than Disney World. If I ever go to Great Britain this is the place I'd visit. Seriously...if they really want to have people on a flying coaster that makes it seem like you're flying through space, they really should make a dark ride type coaster that has a combination of large wall mounted monitors and the tubes painted to look like star fields.
Great video! I loved getting the history behind this incredible coaster design. My favorite flying coaster is Tatsu. In fact, it's my favorite of the 96 coasters to date that I have ridden. The intense sensation of flying over the park, the dives, rolls and the intense pretzel loop, finishing with a tight sweep over the main plaza of the park is truly phenomenal. Flying Dinosaur is a bucket list coaster for me because I hear it is even better than Tatsu. One day I hope to be the judge of that.
I worked as a videographer for one corporate event at Alton Towers hotel during the off season. They opened up Air for all these upper management types to ride on it - one bloke just went round and round for 30 mins and I had to wait for him in the rain until he had enough! I tracked on the copy “we are on the right track” over the video footage lol.
Everything from the color scheme, the ride's name, the letter type, the design of the station and the air shop with the silver panels, the blue-green glass. It's all very early 2000s minimalism.
I went on Galactica during the 2018 season, but chose not to use the VR due to its poor reputation. If I'd have known it was about to be removed entirely I probably would've tried it.
Honestly didn't even know about the rebrand/retheme to Galactica with the VR thing, the last time I was at Alton Towers was in 2002 and I remember going on Air.
This may be something that has already been done, but after watching your flying coaster expedition series I'd love to see something similar with the history of Arrow. Perhaps the rise with its history at Disney, the fall with X/X2, and everything in between? That would be really cool!
Manta at Sea World Orlando is incredible. That (not sure what you'd call it) inverted pretzel loop was such an unexpected feeling the first time I rode it.
I love air but they really need to add more themeing around the track! Also I think they should have kept the last few seats with VR so people had the option. But ah well.
B&M have continued to produce bigger and more intense flying coasters, such as Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. But after riding that I felt that the new bigger coasters are only going after the title. Although that pretzel loop is insanely cool, and the height of it is literally breathtaking

Alton Towers RipSaw please I never. Got to go on it
At some point
@@ExpeditionThemePark A video on Submission would be nice too.
Hazel LoveGood what? What's rip saw?
Susie Studios an old ride at Alton Towers
@@susie4284 Ripsaw was a Huss Top Spin located in Forbidden Valley that was removed in 2015.
Been watching this channel for so long so it’s weird when a clip I uploaded is used 😂 cheers for the credit
Conor Boyle hahah
Air will always be one of my favourite rollercoasters!
Air is my favourite coaster too, but I wish they would revert the name back, as 'Galatica' doesn't fit well with it.
Went in the Galactica store on October 12 2019...sells vr headsets despite it not being a vr ride anymore (I didn’t get one though. I got a Nemesis monster keychain)
I was going to say the same thing, was surprised to see so much VR gear being pushed in the shop when it has nothing to do with VR anymore.
I love your videos! They’re actually really interesting and I’ve been watching for hours XD
You’re fast becoming one of my favourite TH-camrs
Keep it up
so glad I got a ride on this with the VR (I live a long way from Alton Towers so only go there once every couple of years)
The first time I even saw a flying coaster and got to ride was in Universal Studios Japan on the pterodactyl coaster. To date- best experience ever
Great video miss the theme of air like the sound track something very special about it #prepareforair
I had a copy of the air soundtrack somewhere back in the day. There's actually a guy who used to write quite of lot of themes for rollercoasters and themeparks. Managed to track him down one day.
I really wish they kept the air theme song, its just so relaxing and so much better
Air was my first ever rollercoaster I’ve ever been on. (Just recently)
I remember begging my friend to not go on it and began walking away from the entrance of the ride.
Long story short, when i was climbing up the lift hill i was suddenly so happy.
me and my friend tom love watching your videos together
no homo tho
Good bonding time!
Gay
Come out of the closet mate
Might not be homo but it's definitely sexist
Just make sure you're wearing socks, then it's not gay.
I used the headset once and thought it was rubbish. Kinda low-res. Should have stayed as "air"
ive said it once and i will say it again, alton towers is genius with their theming
I'm back and went yesterday and it seemed to be riding great these days, felt much more intense than usual. had me giggling all the way!
Been some years since I've been to alton towers. But air was my favourite hands down
Great video!
This one is probably one of the best ones for me I think it’s suitable for everyone and it’s so fun ! :]
Air’s logo/branding looks gorgeous
Man your final thoughts on it at the end are the exact same for me and every word was getting me wetter. You really know how to turn an Air fan on.
Your videos are amazing!
A very underrated ride. Great video!
Air, was a breath of fresh "air", the VR aspect was a gimmick in my opinion
I'm glad I got to experience Galactica while the VR was around, but I reaaaally wish I got to experience it as Air!
Honestly didn't even know about the rebrand/retheme to Galactica with the VR thing, the last time I was at Alton Towers was in 2002 and I remember going on Air.
You’ve gotta say though...
*dat new galactica music is dope*
Zachary Nolan tru dat

This may be something that has already been done, but after watching your flying coaster expedition series I'd love to see something similar with the history of Arrow. Perhaps the rise with its history at Disney, the fall with X/X2, and everything in between? That would be really cool!
Love the video! Air was the coaster that got me into coasters. Would love an Expedition Skytrak though - never got to ride it!
“Roller coasters are changing forever”
*removes the VR 3 years later*
Manta at Sea World Orlando is incredible. That (not sure what you'd call it) inverted pretzel loop was such an unexpected feeling the first time I rode it.
Yesss it's finally here! Great video BTW and I guess that wraps up all of the secret weapons at Alton Towers other than wickerman
The only rollercoaster to gain two ‘world’s-firsts’ in the space of 14 years
I love air but they really need to add more themeing around the track! Also I think they should have kept the last few seats with VR so people had the option. But ah well.
Hello There, great video, very informative and it was fantastic to hear your perspective on this. Thank you for doing this. Cheers Peter :)
I went on Air once. It was amazing. My favourite all-time ride!
Air was the first roller coaster I ever went on... I miss the old theme so much :(
B&M have continued to produce bigger and more intense flying coasters, such as Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. But after riding that I felt that the new bigger coasters are only going after the title. Although that pretzel loop is insanely cool, and the height of it is literally breathtaking
