I honestly thought Rodtang walked away with the victory until they announced the winner. Very close fight though

Gotta check out the after-fight replay of the knockdown from the other angle! It looks like the elbow didn't really connect and Rodtang's foot was rolled over. It looks more like a tripping slip. Replay is at 4:14:08 of the livestream
That fight could not have been closer. I think Superlek's extra weight helped him and so did the lack of rounds 4 and 5. I predicted Superlek to have the edge; now I think if it had gone 5 rounds at real weight I would give the edge to Rodtang. But both guys are fantastic.
Rodtangs camp def should have went with 5 rds. Lek always looks gassed by the end.

SuperLek is a technician fighter and That’s a really good technique to fight against punching fighters it’s 100% legal maybe they called long guard or long clinch
Definitely need a rematch. Honestly this could have gone either way. When 2 fighters are so evenly matched all it takes is 1 bad day, a little bad luck, an argument with their spouse and they lose.

Just finished watching the fight. Amazing warriors. After all the combat they hug it out. This is why I love kickboxing/muay thai. The sense on community and mutual respect across all parties is so strong.
Rodtang tripped over his left foot after superlek push Rodtang's guard towards the rope, if you watch the replay you can see the elbow missed Rodtang chin while Rodtang was already off balance and his foot twisted. Rodtang also mentioned it during his live chat with fans that he "just tripped over his foot and elbow didn't connect, but it is what it is so just let it go" refering to the decision.

That was a very close fight, I thought it would be more one sided, Rodtang is tough!!
Rodtang could of taken this over 5 rounds, Superlek looked quite fatigued towards the end.
Also surprised Rodtang did not use upper cuts, Superlek was closing distance by leaning in with his head down when trying to grab Rodtangs wrists.
Now that I think of it I'm not sure I have ever seen him throw an upper cut, not even sure I see many MT guys use the upper cut now I think of it.

I read that Muay Thai scores kicks a lot more than punches and elbows, so advantage Superlek there. They do call him the "kicking machine".

From being surprised with how Rodtang dominated the elbow & dump battles; to the fight being super close; Rodtang looking looking more composed/refined than ever; about the knockdown being the deciding factor (can't see clearly if the ref was correct in counting though, but since it was counted, then judges' decision was correct); & of course, the 5-round rematch being necessary 🙏

What a fight! I think if Rodtang did not slip off balance (because he clearly did not look knocked down or dizzy when he stood up fast), he would not have had a count and would have won the fight. Or at least a draw since it was so close.

Volume was a bit low on this video, quality reaction!
Rodtang used his power and durability to try and stop Superlek with the punches and elbows. But Superlek was landing with a variety of attacks, body and leg kicks, flying knees etc as well as elbows and punches.
Rodtangs best land was a risimg elbow, if he'd launched some knees when Superlek was coming in head down it could've been effective.
I agree Superlek winning based on the knockdown and variety of kicks which score higher. But I feel Rodtang landed heavier and fought emotionally with his hands and elbows. If Rodtang had mixed it up more and veen more effective defensively rather than eating shots to land shots he could've won imo

Wasn’t a knockdown. Rodtang got pushed slightly off balance, then the elbow grazed, then the tricep landed and pushed him and the ankle rolled. Not a knockdown imo.
Also you miss the weight by 5 pounds, you’re almost in a different weight class.

The count by the ref is what makes the difference. It was a slip and wasnt a knock down to me. Rodtang also did more damage. Superlek missed weight by 5 pounds. He might move up to bantamweight
Even without knockdown, Superlek wouldve won. He changed his strategy and his leg kicks, clinch+elbows put him up in the scorecard. You cant just focus on the elbow that cut Superlek and ignore all the strikes Superlek accumulated onto Rodtang. Not to mention, all those aggressive punches Rodtang missed in round 3 a sign of desperation in muay thai, that youre behind. Clear Superlek win. Please learn the complete scoring before declaring X or Y a winner
Tbf both were desperate in round 3. I didn't count points but looked like Rodtang had just as many successful elbow strikes as Superlek had kicks, so felt very equal (and more in Rodtang's favour in round 3).
@@TheQw90 No they werent. Rodtang was ovviously chasing and missing and in muay thai that's an indication of desperation. That's why all 3 judges scored it in favor of Superlek. Im really sick of casuals who dont know about muay thau scoring talking how they X scores more by their scoring gtfo

@@bunmeng007 upon reflection, Superlek also used more diverse attacks, and it looks bad that Rodtang didn't block any of his kicks. Still, the damage from those elbows was insane, I thought that was close to tipping the scales.
I thought Rodtang won. Didnt think that 2nd rd knockdown was legit. looked like it whiffed and rodtang rolled his ankle a bit,clear slip. a damn shame. Those hard elbows from rodtang that cut lek open were savage. He had hard hard punches throughout the fight that pushed lek heads back, lek was hugging to much at the end, I liked Rodtangs pressure better..bro looks unblemished. Rematch with 5 rds at 135lb Rodtang gets his revenge. I just wish Rodtang could have landed his liver shot more. Bro needs more reach.

Superlek won 2 and 3. This isnt mma where damage and overall fight is end all be all. This is muay thai with round by round point scoring by striking. Overall, Superlek landed more strikes and with more variety. Clear Superlek win. Please understand ONE muay thai scoring

This is One Championship with Muay Thai Rules based of a Global Judging Criteria. You want to know what they are for Muay Thai? 1. knockdowns, 2. DAMAGE🤡, 3. Number of Clean Strikes & 4 AGGRESSION🤡. So can you please tell me how with your vast knowledge Muay Thai Rules, not MMA rules, did I not understand? Maybe send an Email to One Championship on how they have judging rules clearly posted on there website for all to see are wrong and it's not MMA, you know the rules are based on round by round and clean strikes.
Rematch - but at weight. Superlek was big for *just* 5lb over. The 8 count was borderline, it looked more like a fall. If needing to consult a ringside doctor drew a standing 8 count then Rodang would likely be on top.
Not that I know anything, but at the end, Superlek just holdet Rodtang's hands and such. Kind of worked out seems to me.

Was an mazing and really evenly matched fight, I dont get how anyone can call such an even fight a "robbery".
Now I really hope they make a rematch, the hype would only be bigger. 5 rounds and for the belt. As it should have been anyways.
There were a few reasons. First, vast majority of not everyone gave round 1/3 to Rodtang. While Superlek had nice leg kicks in Round 1, his face got smashed in pretty badly by those elbows. In round 2, the round would've went to Superlek even if the knockdown wasn't present. Round 3, just looked gassed out, took multiple unanswered elbow shots, got tossed to the ground, was slow to get up (also while looking at the clock), etc. So most people gave round 3 to Rodtang. The problem was the knockdown in round 2 which is pretty much visually confirmed that Rodtang slipped and the scored that as a knockdown. It just happened coincidentally when Superlek was throwing an elbow which only partially landed. It was pretty evident that Rodtang wasn't stunned given that he immediatley stood back up and wasn't the least bit wobbled.
It's interesting because even though Superlek won, Rodtang looked like the all around better fighter. He looked more technical. He didn't look like he was just rushing in. He was controlling the pace of the fight more often. He landed the better shots. He did more physical damage. He threw down Superlak multiple times. He looked fresher. He wasn't just rushing in to clench and burn down the clock. Superlek might've won, but Rodtang definitely looked like the superior fighter to nearly everyone.

It's rare to see a fight where the winner understandably won the fight, while the loser looked so good, arguably better than the opponent, despite the L.. Fantastic fight. We need a 5-round championship fight next time!
I can't believe Superlek missed the wieght. Also, a main event that's 3 rounds is cheap as hell. I need a rematch of 5 rounds. I knew Superlek would win, but he almsot didn't. Good fight.

I don't know if you do it this way for some particular reason, but as an audience member, I personally would prefer you having the video just continously playing while you react to it, and you could even pause it if you need to talk more in depth about something specific (if it's not a live fight ofc). Unanimous means all judges agree on the winner a split decision would mean 1judge thinks rodtang won
Great fight but don't see hos it wasn't at least a split decision. I thought in one damage was suppose to be a major factor.
The outside view on that knock down was a slip, Rodtang lost his footing and was already going down the elbow just pushed him down.
You can say Rodtang lost the match because of muay thai rules but he completely won the fight in my opinion.

Honestly, Superlek looked freaking massive. I couldn't believe how big he looked next to Rodtang. Like, when you miss weight by 5 lbs, are you even trying to make weight? It's by such a huge margin.

Because there are people who like to say that they are afraid of superlek, and today he has shown it to everyone. that he is number 1 in the world Even if the referee makes a mistake That's the show's fault. I think Rodtang is hiding the pain of the barrage of knee strikes to the body.

Hey Gab, do you think the judges should be able to review their scoring with something like VAR in football? There's no way anyone could accurately see everything while only watching on one side

Rodtang won. He tried to finish the fight. Only lost the round where he was knocked out. I love both guys, but lets be real here.
superlek win because he did a lot of knees (high scoring in muay thai) and kicks. and he also landed elbows back to rodtang. and he block't rodtangs best wepons by holding his arms and hitind knees in the clinch. sweeps and dumps are not scord in muay thai. although it loocks good

There'll definitely be a re-match. To me it was 28-28 because of the very questionable knock-down. Not counting the knock-down I had Rodtang as a clear winner. To me Rodtang won first and third. I'd probably give him the 2nd as well but can see it as a 28-29. Because of One rules Superlek had to win if it was 28-28 since they've got a somewhat objective list of how to judge. Because of the KD it didn't matter what Rodtang did. I think the list they follow is 1. knock-downs. If no knock-downs 2. damages. If the same damage 3. aggression and lastly 4. err...ring-control?

Had rodtang winning every round obviously the "knockdown" outs the score in his favor for round 2 those short elbows and left hooks were really damaging superhug. Shitty results needa a rematch with 5 rounds.
From the start when I heard this match up I said it's a bad matchup, they obviously stated they have no interest in fighting each other. I am a Superlek fan, my conclusion - horrible fight, made up only for views and hype. The missing weight also a downside. My eyes saw just a brawl where Rodtang was more skillful and landed more shots, tossed Superlek and cut him twice. If a knockdown made the difference in all this chaos, so be it. Overall, for me, it was a Rodtang win. A rematch would make no sense.
I agree with everything you said. Also, to add onto that both fighters had no interest in fighting, do you think superlek came in 5lbs heavy on purpose? I know for fact thais do not like fighting each other, esp when a title is on the line. Isn't that why thais wanted to spread Muay Thai to the world? So they can show how great it is and so they can stop beating up fellow countrymen? With that logic, one fc still gets their fight for views, but superlek doesn't have to actually risk taking a title from rodtang, they had no interest in fighting each other so It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

They would grab my wrist during clinch when I was in Thailand. I didn't understand why because back then (2008) everyone was fighting in boxing gloves.
This is muay Thai you muppet. Its the national sport of an entire country with centuries of history and tradition. Clinch and wrist control are massive parts of the sport, if you remove that its not muay Thai anymore. If you don't like clinch just watch kickboxing. Its also a great sport with great fighters but don't ask people to change a whole sport just because you're favourite fight lost lol
