    I really hate the amateur style, and wearing the headgear. Also the gloves are not only bigger, but the padding is so front loaded on the knuckles. I honestly find it very hard to get any feedback from them. sometimes my trainer tells me in the corner that I landed a hard shot but I didn't even realize it

      You probably don’t hit very hard. How much do you weigh? I’m 200 pounds and when I’m boxing if I hit my opponent cleanly, they are done.

    From the little I've seen of Amatuer boxing matches on TH-cam, I do enjoy the straight to the hits.

    Hey Coach V. I love your videos. I want to start my amateur boxing career. The province in Canada I live in, Alberta, doesn’t have the best boxing competition when compared to Quebec, Ontario and BC. Should I stay here first and smoke the amateurs and continue on somewhere else or should I be looking for the best competition and relocate to a different part of the country

    At 3:18 You left out “defense” Coach. It’s four criteria. It also don’t help that they make it difficult to find those criteria, as well as all four of them aren’t clearly defined. Landing clean punches is clear enough, it scores points. Defense aka stopping opponents from doing that, is also clear.
    Ring Generalship is vague to most not involved in the sport.
    Effective Aggression is defined.

    • @ritzkola2302
      @ritzkola2302 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@k-dogg9086 Nah he really only left out defense. The matter was about scoring criteria. There is no “what anyone is concerned” there’s only the factual scoring criteria.

    • @ritzkola2302
      @ritzkola2302 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@k-dogg9086 “Going for the ko” isn’t apart of the scoring criteria so that’s an irrelevant question.
      Unless you meant to ask “what if someone knocks out their opponent?” At which case they win. Yet that changes nothing about the *scoring criteria.* Which is the point here.

      I'm -4.5 and -3.5. I used to train MMA 6years ago. Had to stop because the eyes were getting worse. The depth perception is a problem really. I could see the punch coming but It was really hard to judge the distance. Anyway I'm planning to save money for a PRK eye surgery which is specific for Athletes. Plus there is always high risk of retinal detachment for people with short sight even after the surgery. So there's that.

      @@lukas9065 Trust me man I understand you. I have the same situation. I competed in MMA with -3.5. I was really skilled and passionate but like I said it's just not possible to compete with blurry vision. Unnecessary damage to the head and it's not even your fault you know. I'd suggest don't go to a boxing gym without a surgery if you're intentions are to compete at the top level but if it's only for fitness and learning the art sure go ahead.
