    Love me some Pewter Report. Ty for all the free content and please let us know how we can support you as PR fans! I grew up in the Tampa area and we had season tickets when I was a kid during the 90s through the first Super Bowl and a few years after. I now cheer on the Bucs as a very rare fan in the Natural State!

    Great job, Scott. Always enjoy your analysis/videos.
    Really looking forward to seeing this Bucs team this year, it's loaded with talent! With good coaching and a little luck, they could be very good!

    Very informative piece about the secondary, didn't know Tavierre Thomas came with that kind of speed. Hopefully now Bowles won't play so much off coverage and let these receivers do as they please off the line of scrimmage. Love these Pewter Pulses Scott, keep them coming!

    All that speed in the secondary won't mean much if we can't pressure the QB. If we could hurry the throw and blast the QB every once in a while with just our front four, the guys roaming the D backfield could make the big plays we need to take the Bucs to the next level in the post season.

    Josh Hayes may emerge. Very physical, but if has the hands... McCollum, Hall and Funderburk 🔥🔥🔥. Lets do this 💪🏾

      That's the hope. And the Bucs should stockpile talent there with another draft pick in 2025.

    Speed in secondary is exactly what todd bowels needs to run his blitz's efficently i think we will see a lot less frustrating deep balls on 3rd and long against our defense

    • @PewterReportTV
      @PewterReportTV  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. The Bucs boast the two fastest cornerbacks in the league now.

    For me the most interesting player in this draft is Cooper DeJean of Philadelphia. Will he play corner of safety. If corner he will be the first white corner in a while. Josh Allen and Joe Burrow has a name for White DB's. In a video out there they call them "Milk". No matter what the play call is they change the play to go after Milk. Allen at the line of scrimmage will say Milk in his verbiage. DeJean may have a tough start. He has elite speed, elite jumping skills and tracks the ball like a elite DB. He is a ball hawk. Jason Sehorn is the last white starting CB in 2002. DeJean at Iowa never dropped a interception that hit his hands. It could be a high interception number for DeJean if they pick on him. I think they will until he proves he can defend.

    Honest question for Scott, do you believe that Todd Bowles is a SuperBowl Caliber Head Coach? I think he’s done a great job being a stabilizer while we reload after we sort of mortgaged the future for the superbowl. But in your honest opinion, is he the guy to lead this team to a championship or is the strategy to rebuild a superbowl caliber roster and nab a head coach like Vrabel or someone and ask Bowles to step down or remove him from his position.

    DB straight line speed is a useless diagnostic. Game speed has more to do with how you flip your hips when covering routes. Unless you're only covering go routes, quickness is a better measure

    The cornerbacks is a bellwether for this defense. With all the blitzes Todd runs they will be left on an island. Can all of Dean's nicks and tweaks he goes through during the season be a thing of the past. Can McCollum actually learn how to play the ball instead of the receiver. He is not looking back at the QB he is looking at the receivers signs the ball is coming. Some cornerbacks come into this league who know where the ball is at all the time. McCollum does not. He has improved tremendously over his two year. But if he cannot improve this one thing he will never get to the next level. It is similar to a wide receiver being a hand catchers versus a body catcher. Evans is a hand catcher. Scottie Miller is a body catcher. Tom Brady once said, I can throw a hands catcher the ball anywhere near him. A body catcher I need to hit his numbers.

      Good point. I think the CBs could be a team strength or a team weakness. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

      Granted it was at Houston… but Zyon did have 13 interceptions during his 5 years there… and his interception in preseason against Pittsburg was impressive

    Speed is neutralized when the corner is giving up so much ground in passive soft zones
