Ok the burst isn’t a silver burst but the shape of the burst is identical. Plus the rear artwork! I don’t care that it’s a rip off, I like it :)
Another great review! The uncut reviews are definitely the way to go. Makes one feel better about ordering one of these guitars without worrying about a bunch of setup you are going to need to do to get the great sound you always get on those things. Because of your videos I bit the bullet and bought myself one of the Firefly semi-hollow telebodies and I LOVE it. It has a nice bright sound and in my opinion it’s perfectly suitable for beginning to intermediate players on a budget. Thanks for your work!
I had a es 335 1980. It needed a fret job and had paint issues. Who care who made it if it sucks it sucks if it's good it's good. Branding doesn't change anything
Guy, I'm a retired (might not stay that way) pro guitarist, I've been playing 50 years, and I LOVE inexpensive guitars like Fireflys. They look and play great, often sound great, mod easily, and have great bones, you can do the rest yourself. There's really only a small handful of guitars I'd be willing to spend a grand or over on, and in more than one case that's more a personal thing than based on any concrete scientific reason.
They’re worth every penny imo. I’ve got the beginnings of an unhealthy collection of them going. Aside from a little minor setup work (mostly preference) and a random microphonic pickup in need of replacing or repairing, I’ve had no issues that would make me consider anything other than ff guitars
You should definitely go for it , I bought the Firefly SG a couple years ago and it was comparable to my $600 Epiphone SG Pro as far as quality but for a fraction of the price....
That is an absolute bargain for the spec and sound. Not available (yet) on Amazon UK but if it does arrive in the UK, I could buy that no worries at all. Great review and very detailed too. Cheers buddy.
Very cool video and presentation Brother! I have several Firefly's from about 3 to 4 years ago and all seem pretty good quality. I have 2 with the Stainless Steel frets and the Strat is really cool. You play fantastic too!!
Incredible quality for the price. But one day we'll cry when there's not 1 guitar brick n mortar, or American made & employing product left in the USA. I'm not anti import, or decent entry level guitars for beginner or budget players, but maybe sometimes things are "too cheap". Maybe I'm an old man shouting at the sky, but if someone isn't 60+, they can't remember the decline of USA MFG. So much is already gone. When was the last time I could AFFORD to buy "Made in the USA" guitar. Answer: 50 years ago my Dad bought two Ovations made in CT, USA. When I came of age he gave them to me. Haven't been able to afford a USA guitar since.

When all shipping, 'non-container', on land was by rail, the string tensions on many fine guitars, broke the necks on those mishandled.. 'Damaged in Shipping' warehouses, where goods were sold, existed at every main terminal.. ;}
As a canadian it's a bit trickier for me to get these , but I'm on my way as of this week to owning 6 FFLPS models just ordered the black beauty they currently have, even after the conversion these guitars are a great value
Whatever FireFly has done to step it up, they are slamming homeruns! I just bought my 2nd The MadCat Tele and it’s one of the best guitars in my “Guitars under $800 collection” I have 31 now thanks to Max and these budget guitar companies offering such outstanding product for less. I’ve said it in many comment sections and I’ll say it again, The last few years have completely changed the landscape of the guitar world. The factories that once couldn’t exist because computer design software and CNC machines expensive costs now have the tech and equipment to produce what only the Big Brands were able to make and sell for hefty prices. The gift to us is, no more hefty prices and every bit of quality and reliability in the guitars! We are SO LUCKY TO HAVE WHAT WE ARE OFFERED THESE DAYS!

Max, I always appreciate videos like this one! As a player I like to NOT spend a lot on a REALLY good guitar. You don't have to spend a whole lot in order to get a really nice guitar these days? With a guitar such as this one(Firefly) it's not about the name on the headstock, as much as it's playability! I own 2, and am very pleased with them both! I must've gotten a special deal cause both of mine came with a really nice case, for under 300.00 including shipping! A great deal is a great deal. Thanks for this awesome video Max... ✌
Perhaps, if Epiphone and Gibson didn't want your arm, a leg, and a loosely written contract to name your first born, to buy a commemorative piece, there wouldn't be a knock-off market.

Max, I recently grabbed one of the current production model FFSP's in a solid ash top, maple fretboard, "set-through" neck joint, belly cut, locking tuners, and of course stainless frets. You should really consider grabbing one. It's a very unique looking LP style guitar. With the addition of the set-through neck joint and belly cut It's the most comfortable playing LP I've ever owned.
How are you guys finding this information on the guitars? It looks like the website has the most basic information. Nothing as detailed as what you and Max describe.

Max, I was all prepared for a lukewarm performance (no, not by _you,_ by the _guitar😂)!_ Imagine my surprise when this almost ridiculously priced Firefly started spinning out great, chunky sheets of RuptureTone from hell! I mean _daaaayyyumm,_ this guitar sounds WICKED. The minor issues it does have are pretty easy to correct, like that tiny dose of fret buzz in the 7-12th area: that is right where you said your personal 'go to' setup would be for a slight cup, or relief, in that area. I do believe that would fix the fret buzz. Man I'm impressed, both by the Firefly & by your ability to deliver a coherent, insightful analysis of a guitar with no overdubbing, no script, & no bullshit. Just for my few poker chips tossed in, I would love to see you do more like this. Awesome job bruh!🎸🤟
When I had arms close to the size of yours, 1 pound wasn't a noticeable difference. But as I've aged, it's amazingly noticeable. I'm sure it's my back problems and tendonitis, but yeah. 1 pound is a difference. Thanks for all your videos, dude. Peace
I recently bought one of the semi hollow body firefly models that is patterned after dave grohls signature model. Metalic blue with diamond cut outs. I love it. Looks and sounds amazing. Now if i can just learn to play better.
These guitars are great. I have two and I love them. I will say I did have to do wire a ground on my destroyer style guitar but honestly learning to work on your own guitars is a fine thing to learn with such a steep price drop.
I like the cut they make for the single cut, I don’t like others that use the sharp point cut in the cut away. Im diggin these one take videos. Take care… 🎸🤓👍🥓
I got the buckethead looking lp. I like it so much I upgraded every part available. Seymour duncan pickups, tone pros bridge and tail piece, graphtech ratio tuners, wiring harness, I even changed the two red kill switches to white tesi switches just to change it up a little. None of the parts was really necessary. I just like working on my guitars and it's cool knowing every part is the best and I just kinda suck at playing 😂. I can always put all my parts on a different lp if I want. It plays so great though. The bone nut and stainless steel frets were done well
Ive purchased 2 firefly guitars and love them.! My last purchase was the Birds Eye Mable Veneer with locking tuners...! Its absolutely gorgeous but the locking tuners on this one was so loose and bad that i changed them out with Wilkerson style tuners and plus i had to set the action up on it and that was it.! It plays killer man...! Im ready for another one
I got this exact model last week. Looked at these ff for years and decided to pull the trigger. In short, badass. Took out the pickups, they were pretty bla. Neck is really awesome. Weird 16" radius or so from what Ive measured but feels amazing. Never would buy it if I knew but glad I did. Added push pulls tones for coil split for the new dimarzio fortitude bridge and tonerider AC4 classic neck. Couple high frets spot leveled and on to amazing feel, sustain and tone. Love this thing 🤘

I love your raw unedited reviews, you have inadvertently created a drinking game. We have a shot every time you adjust the hair, needless to say, we get shitfaced while enjoying your masterful shredding and down to earth reviews. I like the Fireflys and as for pseudo knock-off themes, more power to them! The only people bitching are the ones that dropped two or three grand on a Gibson and now realize the Chinese builders are making well built guitars at really affordable price points.

I recently bought both the Buckethead FireFly model and the Zakk Wylde bullseye model from Guitars Garden - and I could not be more blown away by the quality. With the only adjustments I had to do was tune and adjust action at the truss rod, these things should cost 4 times the cost. They were both in stock at the same time, so I had no choice but not to make a choice :D and buy them both!
I love the difference of all the companies that pay homage to the great guitars I can't afford. I can always upgrade and a professional setup all myself, keeping my costs down.
K like the fact that you gave the guitar a very fair and honest shake in your review. Seems kind of impressive for a $220.00 guitar I've seen a few of these firefly guitars over last 5 years or so. A friend of mine bought a couple and still sold them for a fair amount too. Decent guitars. I've seen worse guitars by Washburn , lol so, not bad "FIREFLY"
I just got this guitar last week (The Gorgon one though. The one with Medusa on the back.). Gotta say, I dig it!! Plays great!! Not super crazy about the tuners so they're getting replaced with a set of Gotoh locking tuners, along with a Mojotone prewired harness, and a set of Seymour Duncan Slugs! Gonna be my doom/sludge/stoner machine!! 🤘🤘 My Scootiepuff Sr. If you know, you know.
Artwork is hugely a matter of taste, personally I like the artwork on the back quite a bit. Others may not. The quality continues to get better and better and better. I love those ball end frets. I also prefer a satin back on the neck, but I have standard several gloss next and I find it a pretty easy procedure. All in all, I think this is a real winner for the price.
I just got the Firefly Les Paul with a maple neck and I freaking love it love it! But only after I slapped some Grover tuners on it. Bridge is not horrible but I’m replacing it with a Gotoh!

I have all 3 versions of that guitar just because the artwork is so cool, and I really enjoy playing that guitar. If they put out a 4th version I'll buy that one as well.
Max, these kinds of live without a net videos for guitar unboxing and first looks are the best idea. They completely shut down those cynical trolls who only exists to talk trash - such pathetic lives. Yes, for sure, one cut vids are both easier and harder to produce, with the stress of all "live" recording probably being the most difficult. Then again, you have basically zero editing to do. XD If you want to shut down any trolls for these kinds of videos even further, set up a real time digital clock running in the background for all to see....
I like Firefly Guitars. I have two. I think it is OK to copy the creativity/design, but not to counterfeit the guitar. I have a Gibson SG and Gibson LP Custom, there is a difference between those and a Firefly. Play and enjoy the Guitars. Thanks for the review.
Pretty darned cool for $220! Damn, that bridge is 🔥! I love low action but you're right. I can hear the buzz on those low 6, 7, 8, frez. 😏 I'd love to see all the complete specs and how it settles in. Put some real strings on it, stretch 'em out, and then do some serious bends on the G and B strings. BTW what gauge strings are on it? Good review!
I bought all THREE in this FF Series. I put TP-6 Fine Tuning Tailpieces on all of them. As of today, I own 50 Firefly guitars. BEST buy on the planet and GREAT Mod Platforms if you want to go that route :)
I own the gorgon (Medusa) version of this guitar. It punches well above its price point and I bought it because I liked the artwork better than anything in the Adam jones epi line. It plays and feels closer to my Gibson standard 60s than any of my Epiphone guitars do the neck carve is just closer. As far as craftsmanship it is on par with Epiphone just is lacking a bit in paint and finish work.
I like thee guitar. It is nice to see affordable guitars that play well. Great for a student who wants the feel and look of their favorite guitarists. I would think it would make them want to play more.
I like all the upgrades. Locking tuners, roller ball bridge, stainless steel frets, and all that. Just wish they would do that on one of their standard looking versions. (Not an obvious signature type thing)
SWEET! I'll be able to play every tool song if I buy this guitar! The back should have Harley Quinn naked riding a T-rex! Oh man I wish I was that T-rex!
My favourite neck finish is based on my vintage guitars: looks glossy, but feels satiny. I use an old scotchbite to cut down the gloss on my new/newer guitars so they look glossy but feels satiny.
it’s really cool seeing you do these reviews on these budget guitars that give you a lot of bang for your buck, but what I hate about brands like firefly and some of the other ones you have showcased is that they only offer only one left-handed model or they don’t offer left-handed models at all, they really are missing the boat on the left-handed market. I’m sure a lot of us lefty’s me included Would love to have one of those,considering the AIO brand does offer many of their models left-handed. I almost got one last time, but went with a Kramer instead.

such as this one(Firefly) it's not about the name on the headstock, as much as it's playability! I own 2,

Perhaps, if Epiphone and Gibson didn't want your arm, a leg, and a loosely written contract to name your first born, to buy a commemorative piece, there wouldn't be a knock-off market.
I've got this guitar, the Gibson, and the Epiphone. This is a great guitar, I am not going to lie, but it is nowhere near what the other two are.

Max, I recently grabbed one of the current production model FFSP's in a solid ash top, maple fretboard, "set-through" neck joint, belly cut, locking tuners, and of course stainless frets. You should really consider grabbing one. It's a very unique looking LP style guitar. With the addition of the set-through neck joint and belly cut It's the most comfortable playing LP I've ever owned.
How are you guys finding this information on the guitars? It looks like the website has the most basic information. Nothing as detailed as what you and Max describe.
@@kevinmatthews9469 They are definitely lacking information. I have 8 Firefly's and probably will keep all of them. The Elite and Pro pickups are pretty good overall.

Max, I was all prepared for a lukewarm performance (no, not by _you,_ by the _guitar😂)!_ Imagine my surprise when this almost ridiculously priced Firefly started spinning out great, chunky sheets of RuptureTone from hell! I mean _daaaayyyumm,_ this guitar sounds WICKED. The minor issues it does have are pretty easy to correct, like that tiny dose of fret buzz in the 7-12th area: that is right where you said your personal 'go to' setup would be for a slight cup, or relief, in that area. I do believe that would fix the fret buzz.
Man I'm impressed, both by the Firefly & by your ability to deliver a coherent, insightful analysis of a guitar with no overdubbing, no script, & no bullshit. Just for my few poker chips tossed in, I would love to see you do more like this. Awesome job bruh!🎸🤟
When I had arms close to the size of yours, 1 pound wasn't a noticeable difference. But as I've aged, it's amazingly noticeable. I'm sure it's my back problems and tendonitis, but yeah. 1 pound is a difference. Thanks for all your videos, dude. Peace
I recently bought one of the semi hollow body firefly models that is patterned after dave grohls signature model. Metalic blue with diamond cut outs. I love it. Looks and sounds amazing. Now if i can just learn to play better.

These guitars are great. I have two and I love them. I will say I did have to do wire a ground on my destroyer style guitar but honestly learning to work on your own guitars is a fine thing to learn with such a steep price drop.
I like the cut they make for the single cut, I don’t like others that use the sharp point cut in the cut away. Im diggin these one take videos. Take care… 🎸🤓👍🥓
I got the buckethead looking lp. I like it so much I upgraded every part available.
Seymour duncan pickups, tone pros bridge and tail piece, graphtech ratio tuners, wiring harness, I even changed the two red kill switches to white tesi switches just to change it up a little.
None of the parts was really necessary. I just like working on my guitars and it's cool knowing every part is the best and I just kinda suck at playing 😂. I can always put all my parts on a different lp if I want. It plays so great though. The bone nut and stainless steel frets were done well
I started out not editing, but learned that I have diarrhea of the mouth. I edit mostly to save time. Great stuff, Max.
Ive purchased 2 firefly guitars and love them.! My last purchase was the Birds Eye Mable Veneer with locking tuners...! Its absolutely gorgeous but the locking tuners on this one was so loose and bad that i changed them out with Wilkerson style tuners and plus i had to set the action up on it and that was it.! It plays killer man...! Im ready for another one
I got this exact model last week. Looked at these ff for years and decided to pull the trigger. In short, badass. Took out the pickups, they were pretty bla. Neck is really awesome. Weird 16" radius or so from what Ive measured but feels amazing. Never would buy it if I knew but glad I did. Added push pulls tones for coil split for the new dimarzio fortitude bridge and tonerider AC4 classic neck. Couple high frets spot leveled and on to amazing feel, sustain and tone. Love this thing 🤘

I watch a lot of your Videos and a lot of other stuff related to Music and always liked your vids and knew you were Musically inclined, but I never knew how much so and how versatile you are till I saw you in a Music video that Im sure most of your fans including me would be surprised to see you in, but it was very cool to see you in it and I have a wide range of musical influences and I was watching a video of Tommy Wright the Third from Memphis doing a live show in LA in 2018 and you were what looked like doing some stage handling at that show, very kool!........Can you explain what you were doing there if you dont mind., Looked like a really good and positive mixture of Peeps there having a lot of fun including yourself., And I have Subscribed and play the guitar as well!

Been a subscriber for awhile I like your content and I file it in my music 🎶 file. Glad to see you're a pilot also. Think I filed one of your videos awhile back to watch when I had time and forgot that I think you were flying a chief or Taylor craft. I will look for it tomorrow. Anyway I agree with your opinion on the shorter rounded frets,the smooth tuners,and appreciate your honesty on the buzzing 6-8 frets and that it could be fixed with the trus rod. I love your raw unedited reviews, you have inadvertently created a drinking game. We have a shot every time you adjust the hair, needless to say, we get shitfaced while enjoying your masterful shredding and down to earth reviews. I like the Fireflys and as for pseudo knock-off themes, more power to them! The only people bitching are the ones that dropped two or three grand on a Gibson and now realize the Chinese builders are making well built guitars at really affordable price points.
Truth is there is an important market for these guitars and they will continue to produce them. I would not be mad if I were gifted that axe!

I recently bought both the Buckethead FireFly model and the Zakk Wylde bullseye model from Guitars Garden - and I could not be more blown away by the quality. With the only adjustments I had to do was tune and adjust action at the truss rod, these things should cost 4 times the cost. They were both in stock at the same time, so I had no choice but not to make a choice :D and buy them both!
I love the difference of all the companies that pay homage to the great guitars I can't afford. I can always upgrade and a professional setup all myself, keeping my costs down.
Really like these "one-take reviews"! Hate the shape of the firefly single cuts, its the cut away... just looks wrong. Great playing as always Max!

I've seen a few of these firefly guitars over last 5 years or so. A friend of mine bought a couple and still sold them for a fair amount too. Decent guitars. I've seen worse guitars by Washburn , lol so,

I just got this guitar last week (The Gorgon one though. The one with Medusa on the back.). Gotta say, I dig it!! Plays great!! Not super crazy about the tuners so they're getting replaced with a set of Gotoh locking tuners, along with a Mojotone prewired harness, and a set of Seymour Duncan Slugs! Gonna be my doom/sludge/stoner machine!! 🤘🤘

I really need to get a Firefly. I would love that guitar but a different color. The artwork on the back is amazing.
Artwork is hugely a matter of taste, personally I like the artwork on the back quite a bit. Others may not. The quality continues to get better and better and better. I love those ball end frets.
I also prefer a satin back on the neck, but I have standard several gloss next and I find it a pretty easy procedure.
All in all, I think this is a real winner for the price.

I just got the Firefly Les Paul with a maple neck and I freaking love it love it! But only after I slapped some Grover tuners on it. Bridge is not horrible but I’m replacing it with a Gotoh!

Max, these kinds of live without a net videos for guitar unboxing and first looks are the best idea. They completely shut down those cynical trolls who only exists to talk trash - such pathetic lives. Yes, for sure, one cut vids are both easier and harder to produce, with the stress of all "live" recording probably being the most difficult. Then again, you have basically zero editing to do. XD
If you want to shut down any trolls for these kinds of videos even further, set up a real time digital clock running in the background for all to see....
I like Firefly Guitars. I have two. I think it is OK to copy the creativity/design, but not to counterfeit the guitar. I have a Gibson SG and Gibson LP Custom, there is a difference between those and a Firefly. Play and enjoy the Guitars. Thanks for the review.
Pretty darned cool for $220! Damn, that bridge is 🔥! I love low action but you're right. I can hear the buzz on those low 6, 7, 8, frez. 😏
I'd love to see all the complete specs and how it settles in. Put some real strings on it, stretch 'em out, and then do some serious bends on the G and B strings. BTW what gauge strings are on it?

I bought all THREE in this FF Series. I put TP-6 Fine Tuning Tailpieces on all of them. As of today, I own 50 Firefly guitars. BEST buy on the planet and GREAT Mod Platforms if you want to go that route :)
I own the gorgon (Medusa) version of this guitar. It punches well above its price point and I bought it because I liked the artwork better than anything in the Adam jones epi line.
It plays and feels closer to my Gibson standard 60s than any of my Epiphone guitars do the neck carve is just closer. As far as craftsmanship it is on par with Epiphone just is lacking a bit in paint and finish work.
The burst finish is all over the guitar. that is so bang. love it.

I like thee guitar. It is nice to see affordable guitars that play well. Great for a student who wants the feel and look of their favorite guitarists. I would think it would make them want to play more.
I like all the upgrades. Locking tuners, roller ball bridge, stainless steel frets, and all that. Just wish they would do that on one of their standard looking versions. (Not an obvious signature type thing)

My favourite neck finish is based on my vintage guitars: looks glossy, but feels satiny.
I use an old scotchbite to cut down the gloss on my new/newer guitars so they look glossy but feels satiny.
it’s really cool seeing you do these reviews on these budget guitars that give you a lot of bang for your buck, but what I hate about brands like firefly and some of the other ones you have showcased is that they only offer only one left-handed model or they don’t offer left-handed models at all, they really are missing the boat on the left-handed market. I’m sure a lot of us lefty’s me included Would love to have one of those,considering the AIO brand does offer many of their models left-handed. I almost got one last time, but went with a Kramer instead.
