    I fell in love with Stomatella snails, they're so small, easy to breed and get to places not even the small Trochus, turbo or Astraea snails can clean.

    Greatly appreciated this video. I've started having a horrible ?algae? bloom and the exact pattern you described is happening in my tank. In doing research, Astraea snails were highly recommended. I've added ten of them to see if they have any effect on the problem. The last thing I wanted to do was add a ton of one kind of CUC only to have them be ineffective and just die and contribute to an already overwhelmed bio-load. As you said they are really beginning to make a difference and I'll be adding some more A.S.A.P.. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed and having a healthy tank again.

    I've never had any luck with astreas, they did fairly quick. I've had 3 bumble bees in my tank for 2 years. I'm on my 2nd trio of turbo snails, they are like shop vacs on the glass.

      justonemorecast, bumblebee snails eat astreas if they get hungry.

    Mine tend to avoid the gravel substrate in the tank. They stay on the rocks.

    Totally stupid, unrelated question here, but where do you get your frag racks. I noticed what looked like injection molded frag racks in the video and can't seem to find them online. I like the fact that they are fairly solid and provide a better surface for CUC access to the frag plugs.., not to mention less area for algae to grow.

      +Dave Davis They are made custom for me. We used to use egg crate back in the day for everything because that's all we could really afford for the systems of our size. Once we could upgrade, we had these made for us. They are much much nicer but acrylic is quite a lot more expensive.

      Thank you. Have you ever thought about offering them on your other site. I think other reefers might find them functional as well as aesthetically pleasing.., just a thought. :)

    Awesome video! I've been looking for a snail species for algae control. These guys sound perfect! Are they good for eating algae off the sand, too?

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Josh's Aquatics & Railroad Videos I've noticed they tend to stay off the sand and hang out on the glass and rock much more.

      +Mark Saake No, it was not Bryopsis, more of an annoying thick moss.

      That's what I'm going through now. Thick to almost sponge-like mossy stuff growing on a frag of radioactive zoas in between all the polyps. It sucks.
