Anora is an ultimate masterpiece and Sean Baker's Magnum opus. I want Mikey Madison to be nominated and win the OSCARS next year because it's definitely one of the best performance by an Actress in this entire year. Now you need to see The Brutalist next month because it's Anora's huge competitor for the Best Picture category and Adrien Brody is by far another one of the best performance by an Actor in this entire year. I want him to win for the second time after The Pianist in 2003! Ralph Fiennes will still have a chance though for Conclave because he's really amazing too!
I agree with your interpretation of the ending however I don’t think it was a relationship defining moment for Igor. The combat between them happens because Igor grabs her head to kiss her instead of admiring her body, which she was not expecting. Yes, she cries because she realises her inability for real intimacy, but only when he expresses that he too realises it by refusing sex and instead trying to just kiss her. In that moment she feels genuinely seen for the first time. Idk though, that’s what I saw!
Yeah, that makes sense to me. My initial read was that he wasn't necessarily refusing sex, but you could be right. What you said about her being seen, I think it's also possible she doesn't want to be seen--the way she currently is, at least--and that would have attributed to the breakdown. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts!
Thank you very much! I make an effort for my reviews to be less of a series of verdicts and more of a discussion of ideas and aesthetics, so I hope that's coming through.
I actually thought the trailer was disguising a violent mid-movie turn - maybe that’s because I’m not very familiar with Baker’s style - so I super enjoyed the “second movie”.

@@FeatureUndergroundI think it’s ultimately a hopeful ending for anora. And of course, love your videos man.
Thank you for this refreshing review!
And thank you for watching! Share it if you know anyone else who may be interested. We must increase the Underground!
Excellent, enlightening review.👏
Thank you for the kind words. If you know anyone who loves movies, share the video! Feature Underground is a grassroots, disorganized organization!
I like your work.

Coming through strong. Your channel is a great discovery for me. Amidst the metastatic sameness of the corporate and the conforming www.

The trailers are misleading, in that they only hint at the scope of the movie. Thanks for the comment!
