In almost every Goldie episode, there's a moment when she has to choose between what she wants, and the life of someone she loves, and she risks her own life choosing the one she loves every time (pushing Scrooge out of the way of a falling stalactite, standing between Louie and B.O.Y.D., jumping into the youth-draining water). But this was the first time she didn't get the treasure she was after anyway, and she was okay with that because she'd rather grow old with Scrooge than be young forever.
My favorite part of Goldie's face turn is the fact that while her decision was influenced by Louie, he wasn't actually trying to manipulate her into it. It's an honest connection between two (basically) conmen, and it's a stronger moment because of it.
Goldie has a good heart deep down, and I was wondering if her constant running away stems from something in her childhood, or maybe a betrayal... I need her backstory, dang it
Ducktales producers: Can we show blood on the show? Disney: No. Ducktales: What about a lion character that begins rapidly aging to the point where he crumbles & disintegrates into dust and gets sucked down a water drain, traumatizing most kids that see it? Disney: Yes, brilliant, spectacular, make it happen!
This is yet another one of my favorite season 3 episodes, both Scrooge and Goldie looked good young, and the part where Goldie finally kissed Scrooge, i was shocked. lol
I gotta say, having Ponce De Leon be a lion was pretty smart and man his death was actually creepy. I also wasn't expecting John D. Rockerduck to return to the series, but I'm glad he's back. And I do like how gradually the relationship between Scrooge and Goldie has been developed over these 3 Seasons.
God I love this episode. It gives an element of closure to Goldie and Scrooge’s relationship that I honestly didn’t ever think they’d get- with the second chance at youth they get to be open and upfront about the fact they *like* each other and *want* to be together, without the veils and innuendos they put up, presumably cause they thought it was just too late to change anything.
I liked this iteration of Goldie and this episode for me finished her character arc nicely. Her first episode she learned the reason Scrooge couldn’t forgive her is because despite their love she always chose herself and profit above him and would leave him in dangerous situations. I think that stuck with her throughout the series because here in this episode when they were both de-aged Goldie seemed to jump at the chance to start over with Scrooge and actually be with him. The resolution of this episode being Goldie choosing to come back and help Scrooge and his family was a perfect end for her character. It gives hope that maybe one day Scrooge and Goldie can settle their issues and have a fresh start. The other plots were amusing and fun to watch. A great episode.
Zamber, you're really smart, catching that it was the pool's water that made Dewey grow and turned the teenagers into old people. I didn't catch that and was genuinely surprised when all the plot got revealed XD
I love love (ESPECIALLY with the dynamic Scrooge and Goldie have), so lemme tell ya, I SCREAMED when they kissed for real and they got that closure. They say young love is great, but I’m really here for OLD LOVE!
This is the episode where it all becomes clear - in the end, an adventure with Scrooge is what Goldie wants. Yes, the treasure is a massive bonus, but where’s the fun in it if Scrooge isn’t there to be competition to her? Also, Goldie is the PERFECT Slytherin. Self preserving, check. Loyal to only a few, check. Ambitious, check. A certain disregard for the rules, check.
Nice! I totally agree with you on Goldie being a Slytherin, but I raise you: Scrooge is a Hufflepuff. He’s incredibly loyal to his family and even his employees. He values hard work above all else, and despite his miserly ways, he is incredibly selfless when it matters (Della’s disappearance and the fact that he almost went bankrupt and was literally dragged away from the bin). Hufflepuffs are far from pushovers, and can in fact be very stubborn and tenacious. I think this describes Scrooge perfectly :)
Nestor Carbonell voices Ponce de Leon, which quite cleverly serves as a reference to TWO of his best known roles at the same time: an immortal on a strange island (Lost), who also runs a hotel with a dark secret (Bates Motel). I'm also pretty sure Young Scrooge's hair is supposed to look like David Tennant as the Doctor.
I was half expecting a "he's dead" after the Pool death scene, probably not the best place for it, given when it happens, but that's where my mind went
I wouldn't be surprised if one time in their youth they took a break and spent the a day (and night) just being together. But with Goldie taking Scrooge's wallet the next morning😂 That's nowe my headcanon.
The video title reminded me of an original song made by another TH-camr, "Young Forever" by Oh Geeez. It's based specifically on this episode of Ducktales. It's really cute.
There was also supposed to be a Darkwing Duck spinoff in development, but I'm not sure if that is still a thing they're working on or if it was canceled in favor of the podcast.
I don’t really get why people like it so much. It’s, like, the only episode in the whole show that can be safely skipped with no repercussions. None of the villains ever show up again. The plot hook of Gosalyn’s grandfather is never resolved. And so on.
@@GoldenSandslash15 It’s an amazing episode! It’s my 2nd favorite episode. I so hope Gosalyn’s grandfather plot will get resolved in the DWD reboot that hopefully Frank and Matt will be involved.
@@GoldenSandslash15 What do you mean it can be skipped? I missed the last part of it and when i watched "Escape from the Impossibin" i was confused AF about how did Beackly And Scrooge found out about Bradford's betrayal
@@GoldenSandslash15 Did you forget the way the episode ended? It is absolutely critical to understanding what's going on in the later half of the season.
Something you said... it's amazing how one little comment actually foreshadows something pretty big down the line... I know it's unintentional, but oh I really hope you recall a certain thing you said here after you finish a certain episode.
I mentally refer to Goldie as my “duck wife,” so... (I’m honestly mostly kidding with this. Undyne from Undertale is “fish wife,” I have several “husbands.” It’s kind of an internal joke. I’M NOT A FURRY I SWEAR-)
The amount of time they’ve actually been alive is very confusing, but it is way longer than normal people (or ducks lmao). I have no clue what physical age they are, especially after this episode.

*cries because I’m lonely*
I rather choose grow younger in real life , I don’t like old, teenager forver (old is bad and gross 🤮 (I hate it)🧒

This is the same company that made two movies about half the universe turning to dust. A 20 minute episode should be fine.
Well, it is Disney..
Dang, Marvel's even got their own duck, Howard.
hell, it traumatized me and i'm an adult 😭😭😭

Ponce de Lion: Dissolves into ash in toxic water
Hop Pop: He's dead.
Sprig: Mmmm hmmm
Watching Scrooge's love life unfold is one of the few things that motivate me to wake up in the morning.

I always love when a kids/family show borrows a horrifying death scene from Indiana Jones. It will make those kids watching tougher.

Funny how this episode takes place during spring break, and my spring break ended last week.
My disappointment is immeasurable.
My spring break was only 1 day + Easter, so it ended a while ago.
