    OMG eventually VW nailed it. However, this review is as great as the concept car itself and you guys are very lucky, special and dear for VW group to be invited for this opportunity to shoot at the VW studio WOW. For me, it is the first time ever to see such a thing occurs :) BTW guys as a matter of fact you don't sleep or take some rest at least. Of course, you great work is very highly appreciated. At the end, special thanks for our lovely Thomas and the rest of the team.

    physical buttons are a must i think, capacitive buttons are really bad and we can learn from mobile industry that they are not the best way to move forward.

    Well done Thomas, it's been so cool watching you get better and better at your reviews; also well done to the camera guy/girl whole review looks amazing (please introduce us to your team one of these days). I think the hybrid is a definite win, and I agree about artificial leather, very big yes to the infotainment system as well! The car looks good and it really makes one wonder if the Q7 and Bentley price tag make sense.

    I feel the lack of physical knobs and buttons gets in the way of a complete premium experience, i like it looks clean, i feel it lacks a little bit of emotion at the interior, the exterior looks expresive, I really want to see how they solve the front interior ventilation, personally I would hate capacitive touch buttons for the windows and suntoof. Good review by the way

    Hello, I have purchased two Touareg previously both 3 litres and towed with both and can rely on them completely.
    The new 2017 Touareg concept is perfect..! If anyone from VW is reading this I would purchase my new Touareg as shown.!
    Touch screen is fantastic and four seats a pure luxury option please.
    It is correct most of us do not go off-road it is comfort and luxury we want to pay for.
    I look forward and hope all the features shown are in the launch.!!

    Great looking concept, the next Touareg should be a real contender in the crowded lux SUV segment. Love the digital display. It is the way to go in the future and makes my current BMW look so yesterday. Disagree with you on leather, there is nothing like the feeling of luxurious supple leather interior. Unless the next gen x5 ups its game, might really consider a Touareg next time...

    Very good review as always! In the video you kept asking us for our opinion.My opinion only - for what it's worth: this concept exterior is very good looking and I hope VW introduce it as their next Touareg - it looks like a bigger New Tiguan or a grown-up Passat B8 Estate - very nice. You ask us to comment on the dashboard/interior. I really like the classy New Tiguan's bright and dynamic Active Info Display combined with its simpler big square 8" display integrated into the dash, with proper fixed 'hot-keys' for main functions. My initial first impression - from your video - of this new T-Prime Concept's display, is that it will need to be sharpened up and made more classy and integrated, and be one-up, or a step-up on the New Tiguan, before production (a decent specced-up present-day Touareg is nearly double the cost of a New Tiguan, so the New Touareg's got to be special and clever to win sales...!)

    I can only hope that VW will bring to the market the exact replicas of this amazing concept.
    I have never purchased a VW before, however, this would be exactly the type of vehicle I would like to drive.
    Great comfort features, for all passengers!
    GREAT SUV
    Please bring it to CANADA ;-)

    • @woodypwx
      @woodypwx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The second gen Touareg is a great car, but it feels a bit dated even today. Its going to be even worse when the third gen comes. For example the sat nav is very slow in every possible way and its map updates come up every two years (so they are already obsolete) for 190 Euro (about $300) and a few hours spend in the dealership! In comparison my Navigon app on iPhone is blazing fast, it's very easy to navigate, cost me about $100 once with many in-app purchases and it's automatically updated every 3 months for free!

    especially after last year's VW scandal, I never thought of using a VW car but a friend of mine asked me to try a test drive in the 2016 184hp diesel powered Golf Alltrack, I ordered mine few days after that test drive, the car is awesome, smooth and packed with standard tech and the price was fine and the car is getting bigger, you think it is a Golf but it is spacious. My next one would be probably a GTE Golf if released or get the Passat GTE....

  • @cristiananghel8552
    @cristiananghel8552 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good review Thomas. It looks very good this Touareg GTE Concept. For me the analogical instruments have a longer life than the digital ones. But for me the real problem with the fully digital instruments with no nobs is about the regulation and safety on board.
    If you saw on the news recently Thomas in US, a Tesla Model S P 85 D, going on AutoPilot Mode was crushed by bridge and the driver was killed immediately. Of course it was an isolate accident, but right now I'm pretty skeptical about full digitalization of the instruments and the autonomous driving cars.

    The problem with no-button solution is the lack of sensorial feedback which force the driver to look to what it's been pushed. :/

    Personally, I would go for the digital instruments. I like capacitive screens and if they are responsive, like on an iOS device, then great!

    Now if the new T looks like this, I`d get one. Good job VW. If the car really looks like this. Hope it comes out soon since I am in the market for a large SUV. Greetings from Dallas.

    If price was irrelevant, I would get this car upon release! It looks absolutely stunning - it's a huge 4x4, but it looks so sleak and elegant. You ask why people would then buy the Q7, and I wonder even today, as from the start the Touareg has in my opinion been a much more elegant car than the Q7. And the interior in this car looks absolutely stunning. I don't mind the touch controls, as I have faith in VW to make it work properly, but I would add two extra foldable seats in the back, because a car of this size with only 4 seats is a joke. It could be delivered in 5, 6 and 7 seat configurations for example. I think a 2+2+2 layout is very comfortable and would easily be doable in this car.
    I dislike the overuse of DRL LEDs on the front, and think that the ones in the main headlamps would be plenty. I also agree that the bar across the front will not be allowed in the EU, but perhaps in the US and other markets. But that is really small critism on a concept car stage.
    As for a hybrid - sure. The existing Touareg Hybrid didn't make sense, because it only raised MPG a little bit, at the expense of being a petrol engine, meaning more expensive fuel and actually a lower real world MPG because most real world driving is different to the consumption test. Also, I think the current Touareg buyers aren't too concerned with MPG, since the only offerings are V6 or V8.
    A plug in hybrid with a stand alone electrical range of 50 km is very different though - it means that for most users, the car would not drink fuel in the day to day driving at all - but you still don't need to have range anxiety. In my example, the car would be able to drive to work a whole week on just one charge, and realistically if charged every other day, it would meet all needs of shopping, commuting and so on, on a day to day basis. When going for a longer drive to visit family, or if needing more power, for example to tow a boat or something, power is readily available. Sadly, in Denmark hybrids are taxed fully - only pure electrical cars have lower taxation. Sad, because if you have e.g. solar panels and batteries in your house (which will be much more commonplace in a few years), then the fuel for your car could basically be free, unless you went on a long drive. Very appealing, I think.
    Also, the Danish car registration tax of an insane 180% + 25% VAT is applied to every equipment that isn't specifically excempt, so ESP is excempt because it's old, so law makers can keep up, but xenon or LED headlights is not, because it's not excempt, so it is per definition a luxury, not a safety feature. Same for autonomous braking, lane keeping assist, tire pressure monitors, adaptive cruise control, and the list goes on for miles. With the equipment in this car (either as base equipment, or basically because a car of this stature makes no sense without it), and with the expensive hybrid technology, I would fear that the price of this car would skyrocket in the Danish market. And that - is why I started the post with "if price was irrelevant", because while I do love this car, I think it'll end up being way to expensive, even compared to the current models. Maybe as a leasing package, though.

    It's pretty but is it useful? 4x4? approach/departure angles? locking differential? skid plate? towing? Anyone remember when SUV meant sport and not shopping?

    digital dash is very nice and should allow for apple carplay. Executive seating in the rear should allow the seats to slide back to offering more leg room similar to long wheel base range rover. the VW should have the most offroad capable offering and leave on road only to Audi and Porsche

    The iterior is gorgeous, but I like real buttons and knobs. plus I am one the few who go off-road, I have the air suspension, big ugly fog lights on the front (which I love), and even a second set of rims that are 17" with slightly oversized off-road tires. I better take care of it if I can't replace it.
