There's a movie that sort of used this concept called "The Un-Healer" only that was done through a Native American curse on a high school kid who uses it on bullies.
Yet who evil-er? The health insurance that profit and monopolies life essential Or the ruthless capitalio that would cure his employees for more work. ( That may be killing them by overworking)
Holy shit this storyline was all over the place but the artwork had this pulp feel to it which i loved. the lead up to what comes next i am super excited to see!
Agreed!! Wow and I thought Alan Moore was ridiculously intense!! From psychedelic chemical accidents, occult mambos and even cosmological extrapolarities!!! What an introductory recap of the character, I'm already intrigued by the second part of the reboot of the swampy thing!! Things are crazy and I love it!! WHOOO!!
The “peace in silence” gag still has me rolling 😂 A great video and I love all the goofy stories in here. I also have a core memory from the Swamp Thing movie where he is running on fire into the swamp; saw that way too young lol But ever since then Swamp Thing has always been a favorite character of mine ❤
Welcome back to the homie Danny! Know you got a life outside of this & putting in each work for this big episode but it bums me out when there isn’t a new episode on my Sunday mornings. Ready to dive into this homie and can’t wait to go through the Alan Moore run
I think it was a mistake to make Ellery die in chapter 7. He was the main antagonist. He should have died at the very end of the story. Having him dead before the story finishes takes away the climax of the story and the fulfilling feeling of doing justice.
I thought that this comic was about USA politicians, military industrial complex, power brokers, lobbyist and all the good stuff also know as "the swamp".... jajajaja Thanks Danny for another top notch comic video. As always, a Dannymalt video a day keeps your worries away!!
Danny you did it again since I've been a fan of criminal thanks to you now it's the Swamp Thing keep it up bro. The best if no one told you yet. Would like to hear your opinion on the swamp thing show a few years back
@@dannymalt yeah it did but it's good if you know the characters of course. I think they crammed to much in one season in my opinion. Which got people confused
Something I never understood: Alec Holland was "killed" in in an explosion; Linda was SHOT; how did Matt Cable conclude that a SWAMP CREATURE was responsible for their deaths?!?!?
You’re a great narrator and reviewer of these fantastic stories! You’ve turned me onto quite a few comic stories! Like The Sandman series and my favorite, The Ice Cream Man!!! My favorite! 🎉 so glad this channel exists. If I could help the channel monetarily I most definitely would. 😊 I hope there’s more lore to the Ice Cream Man to be explored on your channel in the future!
Alan Moore also later went on to do a run of "Captain Britain" for Marvel which helped redesign the character. I'm curious if you'll cover that someday.
I love this, thank you dude. I wanted to make a request, no one has covered the IDW ninja turtles books on TH-cam yet, so you'd probably corner the market if you did. I can't even find the short image run of the turtles, either.
I’ve read maybe 4-5 trades of it, it’s really fun. Too long to cover it all though, I think they are like 100+ issues. But maybe I’ll cover some of it.
I love this comic but as a non-native English speaker I am having a bit of trouble with the far-fetched literary vocabulary used in it. Understand the whole stories but the vocabulary used by the narrator to describe what is happening is challenging.
I respect Antons decent ambition...i mean if i lived in a world where all this crazy stuff is possible. Why not shoot for longer life. Specially with him being a scientist.
Hey Danny, have you ever read the Image Comics series named “Radiant Black”? If so, do you plan on covering it on your channel someday. I love the comic because of Nathan and Marshall, who are both relatable to me. If not, I highly recommend it.
A long video and as you say, a slog in parts. It was worth it though, for background for the Alan Moore era, so thanks for your work. The earlier writers seemed have no problem retconning their own and others lore, maybe they should be writing for Disney or WB. Anyway your work is appreciated, cheers.
1:38:14 - Matt was captured by The Three Stooges led by Groucho Marx. Makes about as much sense as anything else in this run. Alan Moore's stories sometimes give me nightmares - these make my head hurt.
Maybe one day. Let’s see how these Alan Moore videos do first. I have read New 52 Swamp Thing, but Mark Millar and Brian K Vaughan also did some runs too which I have not read, but am curious to check out.
Man, i nearly had to stop listening because my misophonia couldnt handle your enunciation, but as the video went on, I either got used to it, or you started speaking normally. Great work!
Omg please no, don't cover Black by that clown "fake holiday" Osajyefo. Its horribly written and is just all over the damn place. It also makes no damn sense as to how exactly the evil white people were able to put themselves on top when black people have super powers, wouldn't Africa and America have a completely different history then? It's never addressed. Just because it's getting a live adaptation doesn't mean it's written well or any good. Sounds more like it was brownie points for the people who cry about inclusion and diversity. It's got Lyfield vibes introducing characters and plots just to never make another mention of them and leave plot lines hanging without ever going back to them or explaining what he's talking about. Please don't 🙏🏿 cover it JustSomeGuy has covered the whole series and points out how ridiculous it is.
Yeah my bad on that I should have mentioned Bernie at least cause he was the co-creator. I just focused on the writers names as there are a lot of artists on all these books over all the years I covered.
You are the best Comics Content creator on this platform bro
The corporation developing clones to save money on health insurance and not lose productivity might be the most realistic comic book plot ever.
So true and sad😂😢
They later did it in a Ewen McGregor movie. Can't remember the name. But yeah, good point

I see Swamp Thing and I clicked fast 💚 Definitely hyped.
22:35 Swamp thing should do a crossover with Fable all these secluded towns😂
When they make him part of the Green all that traveling shit gets alot easier😂

Stuff i di not know. I wish you would metion the artist. Steve bisette. Tom yeats. Bernie erightson. Nice work !
My introduction to Swamp Thing was Sins on the Water. It haunted me for decades.
They crash in Scotland and there are werewolves for some reason. I love it.

1:18:35 might be my favourite part of the video. Danny's spent so much time with Swamp Thing at this point that he's calling him "Swampy" lmao
This is such a treat. I hope we get more like this🎉

@@dannymalt yeah it did but it's good if you know the characters of course. I think they crammed to much in one season in my opinion. Which got people confused
Had a few solid episodes. It more or less nails the big reveal that Alan Moore did in the initial issues regarding Swamp Things “identity.”

If you like Captain Britain you might want to check out Peter David's runs on Excalibur.
I've been really looking forward to this! Xxx
Yep, the 90s tv show also had an episode of two Swamp Things.

Hi Danny, fantastic as always. Will the 2019 Swamp Thing series get a mention in your retrospective?
This was a tough listen I can't lie

Question: Would you be interested in doing Miracleman some time?
I have not read Miracleman but am very curious about it and have heard of it. So possibly.
@danymalt I feel like it would be a waste of a story because so many other comic book content creators have already covered it.

Dude, cryotherapy places are really missing out by not advertising the colds demon killing capabilities. Lol, thanks for doing these bud!
Is anyone thing that alan moore s run was a absolute ending for the character?
Well. . .he did establish that Alec Holland was actually DEAD; THIS being has Holland's memories, but that's all. That's SORT of an ending, yes?
Before Nora Fries got with Swamp Thing, Adrian Barbeau got there! Amazingly, Swamp Thing gets around!

I always wonder what Matthew's human life was like before he turned into Dream's raven

The Swamp Thing comic is quite absurd and ridiculous, it doesn't make much sense as you keep reading it but I guess that quirkiness is its appeal 😆

I only enjoyed the film because of Prime Young Adrienne Barbeau.

It was funny how they inserted an unnecessary topless scene of her in the swamp. Such an 80s movie move.
