Conor oberst is the best song writer I think has ever existed.he's a melody genius.he does character studies and writes songs about other ppl sometime through there perspective.his lyrics are golden..
I'll throw my two cents in. Bright Eyes got me through high school. This song and album are reminiscent of the stuff he wrote ten years ago that made me fall in love with him. Everything, from the songwriting to the harmonica is perfect. Thank you, Conor.
wow. How the hell did he dial into that? Fantastic. The economy of language is nuts. He sketches out the whole scene and all these characters in so few lines. He's got all the super cutting punchlines and asides. Very very good.
The poetry of this sounds like C. Oberst wrote this after getting impressed by books about Russian Nobility like Anna Karenina by Tolstoy or anything by Tolstoy, or The Lady with the little dog by Chekhov, or Eugene Onegin by Pushkin, or Look at the harlequins by Nabokov
"There's a glass psyche at stake, throw me a brick see if it breaks, cause the mind and the brain aren't quite the same, but they both want out of this place."
@@zaphodbeeblebrox9491 He’s talking about being Falsely Accused of SA. This album was written in the midst of that False Accusation, which almost destroyed him. He was accused of SA, and for 8 months he was attacked by “feminists.” During the height of it, he was rushed to the hospital for a rapid heartbeat. He was diagnosed with Tachycardia, which is a title to another song on the album. “The Brick” that is thrown at him is the False Accusation, which almost was the End of him because his psyche (and sanity) is as fragile as glass. BTW: The False Accuser was introduced to Conor by his brother Matt, because she was Matt’s student. Matt died a year or two after the False Accusation. I believe the False Accusation led to his death because of the guilt and despair that surrounded the False Accusation.
Lyrically, Conor is the closest to Kurt Cobain we have gotten since Cobain himself. Adroit, smart, tongue-in-cheek, dark, painful, glimmers of hope sprinkled here and there, raw, unapologetic.
I always ponder arrows when Psyche is mentioned, idk I'm write in the head I accept that's left which is wrong with Euchre games and trump and such on a peyote trip in Moab. My bad.
Imagine being the other guy and not Conor. I feel bad in the end. I am sorry Bright Eyes fans. I was the real estate novelist who never had time for a wife. It is true she did scream with pleasure. When we tried to make it work, she was never honest. It was the delusion of the era.

Beautiful song - really feel like his lyrics are stronger in this album than previous solo efforts - can't wait to see him play it live :)
Best song on the album

These lyrics could stand alone as poetry.

Definitely 💜
Most of Conor's lyrics can 💗
"I don't wanna eat or get out of bed. I try to recall what the therapist said." Oh how much I can relate to this.
Yep and no words.. sai
Exactly. He was really messed up after being Falsely Accused of SA. He described his experience so well.
O yea he was way more "in touch" during people's key lol.
Wow! What tightly written song lyrics.

"There's a glass psyche at stake
Throw me a brick, see if it breaks..."
Quintessential Oberst
This one really got me

Yup.
In one of the songs on this album he makes a reference to reading Russian authors. Great call.
Bulgagov rather
"It's a little uncanny, what he managed to do/Got me to read them Russian authors through and through..."
Beautiful 😍
Conor should have won the Nobel. LoL, Sweden.
"There's a glass psyche at stake, throw me a brick see if it breaks, cause the mind and the brain aren't quite the same, but they both want out of this place."
Evan Ford
Those lyrics resonate deeply with me too. 💜
I always wonder if he's talking about wanting to be a different person or wishing he had "the nerve to quit" the odd job of life altogether.

Perfect
Amazing track, and no I'm not referring to whoever's arm

Love you Lola.

I think will toledo is also on the level.
Treefrog Johnson That gave me chills.
Treefrog Johnson I love Cobain and have attended 3 of their shows but Oberst has very little in common in my opinion.
Treefrog Johnson Jesse Lacey of Brand New
Check out Danny Fingers and the Thumbs
Love Connor, even if he’s a crazy lefty
i have never cried so much at a song
I hope he has someone to be close to.
Aquarians hate that, The fantasy in their heads is so beautiful that no mortal comes close.
"It's no business of mine, if they can love more than one at a time" The plight of men everywhere
IDK is Conor on H now??! he makes reference to it on this track and as a former Heroin addict and 2-15 birthday sharer I want to empathize with him
It's just a song
I always ponder arrows when Psyche is mentioned, idk I'm write in the head I accept that's left which is wrong with Euchre games and trump and such on a peyote trip in Moab. My bad.
Thank you Danny Mullen
Kanye West and Conor Oberst need to unite for all the sad bois in the world.
Hope he's doing ok in light of very recent events
reminds me of Tim Freedman - love it
