Uruguay gifted this to them...

Honestly depending on how much time is left in the game, taking the red and the chance that perhaps the opposition will miss the PK is the best course of action
It's certainly unsportsmanlike. But yeah, he accepted the red card and the PK you can't say he cheated really. He broke the rules and accepted the consequences, he probably saved his team, but there's no denying that this is among the scummiest things in world cup history.
@@1ena585 its not scummy when it worked. its not like the goal gets given if a handball saves a goal, so that part of it isnt rule-bending. the best athletes in the world all break the rules as much as they can without it become a disadvantage.
@Leaferr you're confused. someone breaking rules, cheating, lying, scamming, stealing, etc is still scummy even if they successfully do it. it doesn't suddenly become an OK thing to do because it helped them out. any player can decide they're a goalie and cheat a whole team out of a goal by literally knocking the ball out with their hands. what's the point in playing and having rules and positions then? it's scummy and weak, and ruins the game for everyone.
@@rh8884 that's why they give red cards if you do that. so it's ok as long as you're ok with getting a red card and not playing for the rest of the match. Players get paid millions so it would be dumb for them to constantly do this

Exactly. He did to save his team. Come on, this is a world Cup after all.
